Highlighting some of the best bits of the GyllenNoughties - Part 2

Time to get down to the nitty gritty in our review of the GyllenNoughties and our presentation of the Jake Gyllenhaal Awards. In today's post we look at the best (and some of the dodgy outfits) of the rapidly depleting decade. I'll start with a picture.

Let's get the difficult bit over with - I definitely think that Jake is in these pictures below solely because he was being polite. Without doubt, this top photograph is an offront to Gyllendom. The photographer is still on the run.

This photo slipped in...

As an antidote to the above, here are the candidates for best portrait of the decade.

This picture below was my first ever Jake computer wallpaper. The one above was my first avatar on the net.

Nothing - or very little - preoccupies Gyllenhaalics like Jake's hair. A haircut is a sure sign that filming has finished on the latest project while hair growing can be an indicator that filming is about to begin. Long, short - Gyllendom is divided.

And then there's the fluff, which, while never having reached the levels of bell- and bead-wearing Brad Pitt, can vary enormously. Note how I'm not mentioning moustaches.

One thing's for sure, no matter the length of hair or the extent of the facial scruff, Jake Gyllenhaal has a face that demands to be looked at. Here are just a few of the nominations for expression of the decade.

If you can't make up your mind, how about one of these?

This Thursday is my birthday. I've not yet chosen how old I'll be but I do know that Jake will be cooking me up a feast in his trailer. That's one option - the other option is that some good Jake friends are taking me out in London today to re-enact the ice-skating scenes from Brothers. Nevertheless, there is one more crucial element of this survey to come.

Includes pics from IHJ.

The boots are in this post, ok!! :D Along with legs...

Still no frying pan.

I hope everyone has a good evening!

If I may digress slightly, here is my annual recap of important cinematic trends of the last year:

The time-travelling Boleyn girl’s avatar meets the chipmunks.

Mary Boleyn had led a sheltered life before King Henry the Eighth asked her to be his mistress, but now she found that she was in over her head . The birth of her second child by Henry had set off an unfortunate tendency to travel through time, and space, hence the strange blue people she now found herself surrounded by. Relax, Mary, she kept telling herself in an effort to remain calm, they have young ones of their own, so they will not hurt my two little children. The blue people smiling as they escorted Mary and her babies to a clearing, where three little chipmunks were singing in high-pitched tones.

The children were clearly amused by the chipmunks and would have loved staying to hear them, but suddenly the time-travelling kicked in again, and the little family found itself at Yellowstone National Park on December 21, 2012 just a few minutes before the entire park blew up.

But what was that on the horizon? A house held aloft by hundreds of brilliant balloons. As it got closer, Mary could see Spiderman and the Prince of Persia lowering themselves by ropes so they could rescue her. Suddenly the time-travel kickedi n again, and Mary found herself and her childrej back in Henry's castle....

Hey Ruby :D That is what I call a picture - *sigh* - I should get that one framed, I look at it enough.

Hi Paul! OMG a cinematic world populated by Scarlett Johanssen and chipmunks :D It has been a good year for movies. I'm wondering what 2010 will bring, that's if I see anything that's not a Jake movie this year! In June I won't and February I won't and maybe at the en of the year I won't. April might be free.

Are they the same boots and jeans in the 'leaning on the lamppost' pic? I love that picture, that was my desktop at work for ages.

As for hair and stubble, I liked his look a the VGA's, but the hairier look for the New Eyes picture is gorgeous too.

I almost didn't read the rest of the post after seeing the first pic. The only way to make it better would be to not have the sunglases. But the rest... Perfect hair, perfect stubble, glorious white T-shirt, long, long legs and well worn cowboy boots. *sigh* Just stunning.

I so agree with you about the shower pic, it's hideous, I barely recognise Jake. It's behond me how a photographer working with such beauty can take such an uggly picture. You got Jake Gyllenhaal in a shower and this is what you end up with? What a wasted opportunity!

I choose the one with the glasses for the portait of the decade. The big version is so beautiful, I love how you can see the freckles on his nose. :)

For the hair, I say the blue T-shirt pic and for the scruff the purple shirt.

I can't pic just one for expression of the decade but that black and white one is among my favorites. I so love the Vanity Fair video!

I hope you have fun ice skating. :)

I'm trying to ignore the shower pic and that other one.

The Vanity Fair portrait (and vid) is something special.

I feel so shallow. I love his mind too. :D

Wet Dark and Wild said...

How I love the lamp post pic - OMG, the way he just leans there. I'm having a happy fangirl moment :D

Hi Olympia! That shhower pic is Atrocious! What can the photographer have been thinking? Awful - ugh... Fortunately, there are plenty of good ones to make up for it an I kinda think we'll never get a bad photo again!

The glasses pic is simply stunning - what a handsome man Jake is. I love how he's ageing. Vanity Fair is just amazing.

I realise I left a pic out - one of the behind the scenes Zodiac pics where Jake is all ruffled and sleepy in a purple t-shirt. Adorable.

Thanks - I have apprehensiveness about the ice skating because I think everyone going with me has won at least an 8 for their triple axle. I'm going more for the Brothers 'try and stand up' approach. Mind you, there's a good chance Mr WDW could be worse than me :D (Don't tell him I said that)

Rubes! You and me both - that's the generous thing about Jake - he gives us looks and brains. Thank you, Jake!

Early Happy Birthday wishes WDW in case I don't get online before:)

At work today so just skimming through the posts of the last few days. Will have a proper look when I get home later. Have to quickly say that shower pic is the possibly the worst photograph ever taken!!!

I don't know. I just don't know. I don't know how I can look at these pictures all together and all at once like this and then form complete sentences. It all seems just so unfair...LOL...but I'll try to come up with something! :-)

First...thank you WDW...these end of the year picture polls have been AWESOME and obviously a lot of work so thank you thank you thank you!!

First, The Picture...that is hotness through and through. I love how we all have "a picture". Look at my avatar if you want to see mine (although many already know that's my favorite picture ever, including Jake himself, not sure if he remembers though...LOL)!

I may have to run and hide too as I kinda like the picture with the bridge...hee hee!

Portrait...hmmm...a tough one for sure. I can't decide between New Eyes and leaning on the post. Guess I'll have to gawk at them for a little longer (all in the name of research)!

Without a doubt my favorite hair is long PoP hair but not styled for PoP...just like it is in the last two pictures of him bopping around in regular clothes and long hair. Beautiful. Sexy. OMG can't even describe it correctly so I'll stop. But, I doubt he likes it or we'll ever see it again unless it's for a movie roles so then I'll pick regular Jake hair. You know...medium length and kinda spikey on top! I am digging the "current" cut though too. I guess I'm not as picky as I thought!

Scruff...medium scruff...TRL, VGAs, etc. Love it!

Expressions...love them all! Jake is one of the most animated people I've ever talked to... with his hands, his body language, his facial expressions and especially those eyes. I hope he never changes!!

I'm so excited for you and your Jake friends getting ready to celebrate your birthday WDW! I'm glad you're taking us with you and I look forward to updates. I so wish I was there to celebrate with you! I will be introducing my sister to Moonlight Mile at some point this holiday weekend and will surely be thinking of our time at those locations. *sigh*

Can't wait for more of the survey!

Cheers!

:-)

Hello everyone! And thank you so, so much for the birthday wishes! I am having a lovely birthday, which any birthday would be beginning with a birthday breakfast with good friends. And a fabulous meal last night in a very wet and atmospheric Notting Hill.

So love and thanks and hugs to Mr WDW, Mr and Mrs Ruby, Nouskie, Winterbird, Uli and X for so much fun. And no ice skating accidents - although someone may have fallen over but I won't say whom :D Extra hugs to Uli for handmaking and personalising Jake calendars for each of us. I'm gonna treasure it.

Sorry I missed you all here earlier - lack of internet. But back home and settled with Christmas pud and brandy custard.

I heard you, BBMISwear! Many happy wishes for a fun evening tonight - I'll toast you for sure.

Thank you Monica!

Zodiac! Wonderful to see you and thank you, my friend :)

Hi Paul! That's lovely you thought of me - I took a couple of days off to play with the Jakers but back now :) It is a shame that Brothers has gone for some. I'll just be glad when it finally arrives here and elsewhere.

Thank you Get Real! I hope you have a lovely evening :D

ooh, thanks for the tune, Olympia :D Many thanks to you - have a virtual chocolate :D

Safe travels to Uli and X *)

Happy, happy Birthday and Thank you WDW for looking after my every whim. You spoil us. Love it here, love the fun, frivilous, fabulous and diverse posts you do (it's like describing Jake himself). Thanks for the Boots (they're him) and the Goodlooking Revolutionary Tshirt pics. Spooky but that picture was also my very first wallpaper picture too.

I want to wish all my fellow Gyllenhaalics all around the world a peaceful, loving and very happy new year. And to Jake, all the happiness in the world.

Hi WDW. Good to hear you are having a lovely birthday. Thanks pals for a fun day yesterday. Although I managed to stay upright I am feeling a few after-effects of the skating - I think I used new muscles. Whose dumb idea was that anyway? :D

WDW, I have a great pic of you and Mr WDW on the ice. I'll send it to you and you can put it on the blog!! ;-) Or maybe not. :D
