[Updated lots] Jake Gyllenhaal at the VGAs - videos and pictures and sweater

Even a dodgy internet connection to Spike.com doesn't hide how hot Jake Gyllenhaal is at the VGAs this evening in Los Angeles. This updatable post begins with Jake on stage and backstage, where he could be seen joking around and even pretending that he was about to fall over at one point. He will be back to announce the winner of the Best Game - see update below. Thanks to Stephanie at IHJ for these great pics of a man who loves his sweater! Video below.

Updated to add - with so many thanks to Stephanie (who also spotted the sweater before me) - the video of Jake's first contribution to the VGAs. There may be little that's new about PoP here but Jake's appearance on the stage makes it so worthwhile!

And as we can see, Jake took his favourite jumper with him!

[Update] Jake has now been back on stage to announce the game 'that had you by the balls' in 2009, the game that was better than real life. Unfortunately, I was far too concerned with Jake being on stage looking hot to worry about what game it was. Even more unfortunately, at least on the online version, the cameraman was so starstruck by people in the front row who weren't Jake, he didn't even show Jake handing over the peculiar looking awards. Video to follow, in the meantime...

Update: Never mind Game of the Year award, my vote goes to Stephanie because here we have part 2 - and it's much better than the online version I saw! Thanks Steph!

For a moment I liked the look older and more mature. Put up a smile on my face!
But after reading this ^^

The trailer was good.
I think people liked it! Good sign!

Monica - I don't know what to say - Jake was simply reading the script and laughing and horsing around. It's not a big deal. One can do that and still be a mature adult. Presenting at a video games awards is not in the least bit serious! He's having fun and looking so hot doing it :D

The trailer was great and got such a good reception.

Thanks so much Stephanie for all your help this evening and for keeping me company!

Jake has always been someone who jokes and entertains people. But he is serious about his work and works very hard. He's someone who is well-read - obviously intelligent. And to have humor along with that is an admirable trait.

Exactly, Anon! And I have no idea why it would be displeasing to see Jake having fun at a video games awards. He's obviously an intelligent and thoughtful person.

I thought he looked great. I love that grandpa sweater passionately. :) I hope we hear more about PoP too.

Hi there Anon! I love how Jake gets attached to something like a sweater - and he makes it look so hot! I hope we hear more aboout PoP too - I think we will :)

Take a fun pill, he's at a gamers function, it obligated to have some fun! *g*. I mean how could you want seriousness - look at the silver-swimsuit award assisting girl there!! lol.

the outfits is "seriously" gorgeous though and so is our guy!

*sigh* Only Jake could make me think a grampa sweater is sexy. How does he do that? Boy did he look great!

Geez, they could have put a little bit less money on the set and bought the poor girl in the silver costume a skirt. I hope for her the place was well heated. :D

Hehehe. Well said. That's why you gotta love him. He's an unconventional free spirit where it seems he makes people seem comfortable around him. That word can NEVER be overused when it comes to Jake. He's adorable. He has the right to be young and fun loving just as he brings out the fun and youth in many of us here.

Mwah to you too WDW. Thanks for all your hard work and safe journey back to Blighty.

Jake really looks hot with the new haircut. Whether I love the sweater or not, I'm glad that he loves it and wanted to wear it. He was probably cold. It's been freezing and rainy in California. Well, at least it's our kind of freezing. And I want to add how great it is to see the goofy, dorky, fun loving Jake!

Jake was seriously sexy on the VGA's. Looked sexy with the new haircut, which I love and the grandpa sweater never looked better. He was so funny and adorable. I know I use that word alot...adorable...but he is and it only makes him more charming, if that is possible. :D

Hello everyone! Sorry for the silence - I've been robbed of internet... But at Orlando Airport now which has - and may London's airports take note - free wifi! Such a beautiful hot day here, makes it hard to go home, back to work, especially as I've been sick most of the time here. But anyway... what can I say? How hot was Jake at the VGAs!!!!!

Hi Winterbird! OMG those girls in their costumes. I was watching them backstage and they needed help walking! Seriously gorgeous :D

Hey Gretchen! I think it is at least one of Jake's well worn grandpa sweaters - I'd know those buttons anywhere - love that he wore such a funny thing and made it look so damn hot! I hope backstage video will turn up. They didn't show Jake for long but he was having a lot of fun and was the centre of attention.

Hey Olympia! You're so right - if Jake needed his woolly jumper those girls must've been freezing!

Hi there Sheba :D Without doubt, 'adorable' is the word I use most to describe Jake - well, that and 'hot' and last night Jake totally lived up to it. Loved it! Thanks Sheba - nothing for it but have to head back to Blight now :(

Hi Dani! I heard about it being a wet day so maybe Jake thought he'd slip his jacket over the woolly jumper - it wouldn't work on many but with Jake superhot :D

Couldn't agree more, Get Real, seriously sexy. I love the hair and how good it is to hear his voice and see him centre stage. I know, I'm gonna say it again too - adorable - sigh...

Good to see you all here and I'll see you on the other side!

What a weekend!! Holiday hell kept me from my computer most of the weekend but I happily watched both Sesame Street and The VGAs on my television set over and over and over again!! Whoowhee Jake is Lookin' Good! :-)

He looked fabulous at the awards - I loved the hair and outfit! I don't think that is "the" grandpa sweater. The one he had on Saturday night seemed a lot thinner and flatter (i.e. no pockets, no rolled collar) - I think we would have seen the rolled collar with the way his jacket was open and moved a bit as he moved giving us a good view. I'm LMAO at how so many of us have analyzed the sweater! Oh the things we do!

I just love fun, joking, goofing Jake! Even though he's a liar LOL (not his fault, I know) - footage that hasn't been seen before? Ya, right! Where's the real "never been seen before" stuff Jerry?!?! And I don't know what it says about ME but I have really been enjoying how liberal he's been with that mouth of his...merkins, nakedness, balls, junk, tall blonds who get in the way - LOL! Keep it young Jake, keep it young!

I'm glad to hear he was enjoying himself backstage...the "scene" of him joking around and pretending to fall over reminds me soooo much of EXACTLY how he was behind the scenes on the Nailed set. He was definitely talking and joking with cast and crew in between takes and literally pretended to fall over when the wardrobe people were helping him change his shoes! This seems to be his thing - too funny!

I have to wonder...what will this week bring? A slow week? Hmmmm...not sure I'm ready for that after all the excitement of the past few weeks. Phew! If I feel this way how do WDW and Stephanie feel??? Thanks to both of you for all you have given us during the last few weeks and beyond. I've been loving all of it!!

Now, is it too much to ask for a few "out and about" pictures? People in LA please take your cameras with you when out running errands this week, okay?!

Oh...one more thing...I am happy to be off of SS duty and it looks like with Shalom Sesame not being out until Hanukkah 2010 we have some time! I don't know if Shalom Sesame will even air on television or if it's just a DVD series...past episodes are sold on DVD so I guess we'll have to look into that when the time comes. What a year 2010 will be huh?!

I'm not sure if you are in the air right now, WDW, or back on the other side of the pond already but I hope you are feeling better. I think there were MANY highlights from your week even though it would have been better if you felt more yourself. Good luck getting back into work-mode. *rolls eyes*

Until next time...

:-)

Hello everyone - just got back home. I am a Zombie.

Good to see you, BBMISwear :-) He's Lookin Good indeed - I've studied the sweater some more and yeah it must be another from Jake's collection of grandpa woollies!

Jake always seems so interested in what's going on around him and this backstage Jake is as adorable as the onstage Jake. I love to hear you talk about Nailed Jake :D For this one it was like a fake faint! He didn't dall all the way down but he was pretending that he would - so funny. He's a real performer.

Yes, LA pics please! And I think you're right about the Shalom Sesame - that it'll be on DVD next year.

I need to put my feet up... :D
