Yesterday (19 January), Jake Gyllenhaal and his Prince of Persia producer Jerry Bruckheimer went to see the San Jose Sharks play (and beat) the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center. Thanks to Molly for the headsup! Surely that's not a different jacket...?
Apparently, the back of the head below belongs to Vince Vaughn!
Jake developed a liking for the game when he was in Alberta filming Brokeback Mountain. 'Gyllenhaal says he owes his new-found fanaticism to Lee. “Ang was the one who persuaded me to go to my first game. I was actually opposed to the idea, but now I’m hooked. Maybe not as hooked as Ang, but hooked nonetheless.”' Looks like Jerry's doing his best to keep Jake hooked.
Uodated to add pictures from IHJ.

Morning everyone! So so good to start a snowey day with new pictures of Jake! And at the ice hockey too - very appropriate. He's looking good! I like to see Jake with Jerry, it reminds me things are happening with PoP.
Have a great day everyone and hugs to those who are facing a difficult one today :)
Can someone put the kettle on?
LOL.. Jerry looks more interested in talking to Jake than to the game, while Jake looked a bit distracted (or maybe thinking, "when can I concentrate on the game?")
The leather jacket looks fab!
I am ready to go back home and get under the duvet!
He does, Winterbird! I was wondering if maybe Jake would prefer to be at some other type of game :D I love the jacket! Jake looks so so good!
Sigh, me too. It's horrible sleet here.
Hi WDW
Watched Film 2010 last night and was very happy to hear Jonathan Ross say "Gyllenhaal is outstanding" in Brothers.
I am going to see it this weekend and CANNOT WAIT!!
Great pics today :)
Hi Karen! That is great to hear!! I wasn't able to watch it last night so I'll be sure to catch it on the iPlayer this evening. Mind you, Jake is irresistible in Brothers - you're gonna love it :D
Wow, fun! Jake looks great. :)
IMO Jerry is trying to explain the intricacies of goalie strategy, while Jake is wondering how much longer the game is going to be, when the hell are they leaving and if he remembered to tivo White Collar.
Jake and my favorite sport together, what a great way to start a day! He looks really good, love the leather jacket. We have hochey teams in Ottawa and Montréal, I wonder if he'll go see games. I volunteer to accompany him if he needs company. :D
Olympia
I'm not a fan of it, but as it was explained to me, it very much resembles our football, what with goalies and nets, etc.
Love the jacket, but I hope it isn't leather.
Great pics. Jake looks great.
Love the jacket:)
Hi 12:56!
Hey Trapped! OMG that's so funny. I have no idea what White Collar is but Jake looks like he may prefer it :D
Hi there Olympia! You definitely deserve to take over from Ang in Jake's Canadian ice hockey education - maybe he's getting the practice in before he heads north!
Relocated Brit - you speak my mind :D I'm a non-leather wearing veggie but I know we're few and far between. I don't think I'll ever get ice hockey. I saw a match once, years ago, in Leicester, but there seemed like a lot of interruptions and a lot of noise. I think I'll stick with cricket - Jake would love that!
I hope everyone's having a good evening! Thanks to Rubes for a nice one *)
Hey Carol! Posting at the same time :D It's so good to see him and doesn't he look great?!
LOL! Well football just looks to me like a bunch of people in shorts running around with not much result. :D How can there only be a couple of goals scored per game with those enormous nets? :DDD
I watched an entire game once, during the last World Cup, trying to understand why so many people around the world love this sport. Try as I may, I just didn't get it. Maybe there are subtleties I don't see. Or maybe it's more a cultural thing. :) Like the way a football player reacts after scoring a goal compared to a hockey player. It seems to me the football player will almost always run away from the net and from his teammates to celebrate. The hockey player will pretty much stay where he is and all the players on the ice except the goalie will run to him and they'll hug and pat the guy who scored on his helmet or his butt. :D
Olympia
Hey Olympia! Yeah for sticking with a football match. No, no, no, no, no - you don't just pat on the head a team member who scores that goal for you - you run a mile, you dance, you jig, you leap. It's not just about getting those goals, it's all about the tension and missed opportunities leading up to them.
Actually, I'm not a football fan but I can go on and on about it! I'm a cricket and tennis fan :D
I had no idea that Jake was hooked on hockey. OR that Ang Lee got him into it. Thanks so much for that piece of info. I've gone to a few hockey games myself. The action if pretty fast and furious.
He looks real good in that leather jacket
sweetpea
Morning Sweetpea :D It's interesting, isn't it?
Morning everyone! have a good day - is it Friday yet?
