Jake Gyllenhaal back at the Medical Center, 5 January, and the GyllenGuide to Snowman Construction

The holidays are definitely over - Jake Gyllenhaal is back at work at the Beverly Hills Medical Center, no doubt catching up on the backlog. That's one explanation, the other less plausible one is that Jake is getting ready for the start of Source Code. It also gives him the opportunity to let us have a look at a new (Christmas?) set of clothes. The pictures were taken yesterday, 5 January, the same day that Jake put in some hugging practice at another familiar haunt, Urth Cafe on S. Beverly Drive. This is where I once missed Jake by a couple of hours, thereby not getting a hug. Many thanks to IHJ for the pics!

The GyllenGuide to Snowman Construction

Southern England isn't particularly good with weather, it's why we talk about it so much. Today, the news assured us that we had experienced the worst snow since the Ice Age. Despite these end of the world conditions, people went out in their hundreds to litter the place with snowmen, even though they have yet to see the Jake Gyllenhaal Build a Snowman Masterclass, being brought to British screens by Jim Sheridan on 22 January. The photos without Jake were taken in my village, the photos with Jake weren't.

Includes WDW pics from new birthday camera.

hey! medical centre means work/project, isn't it? the beard is back, maybe shaving is really a chore? :)

you got nice snow there!! central london only has dirty snow, it turns black as soon as it lands... urgh. And I only have one pair of shoes that aren't slippery on icy path.

I need Jake to give me a hand!

Hi there Winterbird! Yes, that's what it means to me too. It could also mean a shave is on the cards.

Lovely white snow in the countryside, although it did mean I couldn't get out of the countryside. Tonight it'll freeze nicely and I have no non-slip shoes. Nike is rubbish on ice! I should have 'borrowed' those New Year skates. Yes, or get some help from Jake! I bet he has balance and stays up :D

Hum...either Jake has lost an ton of weight over the holidays or those are someone else's clothes. :D My god, they're so baggy!

That's such a great scene from Brother's. The last pic is just gorgeous. I'd love to play with Jake in the snow! He looks like a big kid. :)

I hope you're enjoying your work free day, WDW. I guess that's the best thing about the weather you've been having. I'm sending you virtual chocolates to help you get through it. Do you need my shovel too? :D

Thanks for the pics, WDW. And you know it almost looked like Jake helped make those other snowmen. :D

I often wondered what Jake goes to the medical center for. I know he might be going for a medical before he goes to work. But he has also been seen there when he is not working.

I have an idea what he could be going there for.

Hi Olympia! You're right - those clothes are huge :D I'm surprised those jeans stay up and that is one baggy top - like it though :D Makes me want to cuddle him!

Ooh thanks for the virtual chocolates! Luckily, I don't need the virtual shovel because Mr WDW is in charge of digging us out - I'll supervise.

Hi Sweetpea! That medical centre covers just about everything, including opticians, dentists, physiotherapy, aromatherapy, cosmetic surgery, dieticians, even just doctors. But I do think Jake goes there before a new project - insurance may require it - but there could be 101 reasons.

They're good snowmen, aren't they? It was good snowmen snow - sticky.

I hope everyone's having a good evening and keeping warm :)

Beautiful pics, WDW, both with Jake and without! The snowmen are adorable. :)

Thanks very much, Anon!

The medical centre definitely means work. Those jeans are really baggy.

I love those scenes in Brothers. I really enjoyed the scenes between Jake and the children.

Your pics are really nice WDW. We are getting horrific weather here aswell but unfortunately we are getting ice and the type of snow that melts before it even hits the ground. I fell on the ice today so I am nursing a few bruises this evening. I'm sure I would feel a lot better if I took a trip to a certain medical centre:)

Hope everyone is surviving the bad weather.

He lost weight and will probably lose more weight!

I'm jealous! Don't have snow in the north of Brazil! Only rain, lots of rain!

I love the snowmen!Great pics! Have fun, wet dark!

Morning all! Managed to get in today but my bus broke down and I helped to push free a well-stuck car.

Ooh Carol! I hope you feel unbruised very soon. That's awful. I did a spectacular slide this morning and had to be grabbed by three people at the bus stop, none was Jake unfortunately.

Hi Monica :D Rain sounds bad. I hope you keep dry. I saw some spectacular snowmen this morning, including one wearing a dress :D

Total Film has just announced its blog awards nominations and while, alas, there isn't a WDW category, a local blog is featured in the Newcomers section, HeyUGuys, so I'm campaigning!

Have a good day everyone - do keep me company as it's lonely in the office... :D

Hi WDW, couldn't ignore an appeal to keep you company, its quiet here too, though not like yesterday! I love the snow but hate the ice. I'm glad its not just me worried about non-slip shoes, I inch along the pavements at a snails pace, other people seem to stride past me! And always scared of falling over - like that dream you have where you're falling down stairs.
I thought I should mention that Peter S is mentioned in a very nice 'aside' on p 25 of the 'green' Empire - I thought you'd like it when I saw it so remembered the page no. can't recall the quote tho' sorry ;-(
Anyway, lovely post, lovely pics, keep warm. TD

Thanks TD! I'm trying out different extra sturdy Nike and it's working better but I'm useless on ice (as those who saw me iceskate the other week will vouch). But Oxford's looking lovely - just went for a good walk.

ooh, thanks for that about Peter in the green issue - I'm still reading through and I'd not seen that yet. I will look. Take care on the ice!

Hi Monica! More on that later :D

I hope everyone's having a good day!

I thought it was the definitive list. Sorry!

No worries, Monica! It's the short long list :D I just meant that I was including it in the post later.

I didn't get a pic unfortunately but I did get another couple of good ones at lunch time - I'll post them later :D

Sorry, I get very little pleasure from seeing pictures of snowmen, not even if Jake is in them. WDW, your country has gotten clobbered with heavy snow this winter, though not on as big a scale as the American upper Midwest. I'm already sick of snow, and I've weathered 60 New England winters.

I'm happy to see the pics of Jake and that medical center, though. Los Angeles is probably pretty warm, though. I'm glad Jake takes good care of himself by having regular medical checkups. We all want him to enjoy good health.
