Maggie Gyllenhaal's a winner and the GyllenGuide to Beating Blue Monday

First off, many congratulations to Maggie Gyllenhaal, not for winning a GG but for looking the bees knees. A big winner in the red carpet awards. After the ceremony, in which Maggie took to the stage to raise the issue of Haiti, she and a very dashing Peter went to the Fox party for a tipple. The debate continues though - peach, salmon, pink? Jake Gyllenhaal was no doubt babysitting, introducing Ramona to prototype Uncle Jake PoP lego.

Today is Blue Monday (appropriately enough considering Avatar's GG success last night).http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif It's 'officially' the most depressing day of the year. The papers are full of advice today for beating back the blues, including some rather mixed advice from the Telegraph. As an alternative, here are some of my tips to getting through Blue Monday. I do, however, agree with the chocolate for breakfast tip.

Exercise

Relaxation

A hearty snack

Affection from a pet

Shopping

A good read

Nookie

Fresh air

Seeing the world with fresh eyes

A good movie

Laughter

Includes pictures from IHJ.

Hello everyone! The papers are telling me that today is the most depressing day of the year - the good news is that it's all gonna get better from here on in. So relying on Jake here to exert his magic and make me laugh.

What do you call a man with a bird on his head? Cliff...

No wonder I was so blue this morning!! Things looking up better? Is Jake coming to my office tomorrow?

I have a chuckle every time I see that pic with Atticus and Jake... I am sure that's one creature's clingy-ness that Jake always welcome... :)

All the GyllenGuide to beat blue monday are good, but I still request a personal demonstration by Mr Gyllenhaal (and not the senior), please.

I think your fun post beat half the blue already! Thankyou.

Hi winterbird! Yes we have a genuine excuse for feeling blue on this wintry Monday. Jake is the perfect remedy. I love that pic with Atti. I need Jake to bake me a chocolate cake and then I'll be totally over Blue Monday :D Jake is good for the health - it's official : D

Hello WDW, thank you for the awesome post. I love the idea of Jake babysitting his niece and entertaining her with some PoP lego action :)
It's always wonderful for me to see the outtakes of Jack chilling out petting the blue heeler on BBM...
Take care, have a nice rest of the week,
Paola

Thanks so much Paola! Those BBM pics always relax me. We have more snow on the way, winter has a grip and Jake is the perfect comfort blanket. I hope we can
meet up soon, I'll be in touch xx

Excellent suggestions, everyone of them.

My only question though: Does the Nookie absolutely have to be with Gwyneth P? If so, monastic solitude is looking rather good right now.

Maggie was so beautiful. Nice dress!

Never heard about Blue Monday. Thank you!

Today I watched for the second time Avatar and I also saw a large poster of Brothers. This left me with a smile on my face, because finally the day is coming that I will watch a movie of Jake in theaters since BBM.

Morning Tas! No, I'm relieved to say that Gwynnie is an optional extra for Nookie :D

Hi Monica :D Brothers is heading your way!

Have a good Day After Blue Monday, everyone :D We have more snow on the way for tomorrow so I'll have some choice words to describe Wednesday...

I have my custom-made Jake calendar up this week, my blue is fading...

Brothers poster is getting lots of attention in my local tube station. One day it even looked like someone had tried to steal it! *g*

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning Winterbird! My blue fades when I look at my month of the calendar too - it shows Jake and Elmo! What's on yours this month?

Hmmmm, 'someone' tried to steal the Brothers poster did they? Hmmmm

I still haven't seen a poster in the UK...

winterbird said...

It WASN'T me!!! lol... you know there are legitimate channels to buy the poster...

The current month picture on mine is that classic studio portrait Jake with the light blue shirt... very handsome....

Mornin' WDaW!

Thanks for the lovely photo of Peter & Maggie at GG award! I've enjoyed this Exit-interview footage on Youtube with that Maggie's dress choice quote;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnShntugQUY

They're so sweet and lovely together as always!!

BTW, I could watch Brothers' trailer on big screen and discovered that not only Odeon Cinema Chain, but also Vue Cinema in the UK promissing to show Brothers as comming soon title on their website;

http://www.myvue.com/cinemas/film_finder.asp?SessionID=&cn=1&ci=29&ln=1&ic=1&qt=4

That's possiblly as wide as Dr. P. exposure across the UK including Oxford Vue cinema, right?!

Congratz! WDaW I'm looking forward to see Jake on big screen again soon.

Beware, that seems to be a different "Brothers" movie in the Vue cinemas. The Odeon has the correct one.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

'It WASN'T me!!!' - yeah, yeah, that's what they all say :D

Hi Pickle! I saw that interview, very nice. That's great you saw the Brothers trailer! I feel I may never see a Jake trailer ever. I've not seen one yet in this country.

It's great news that Brothers is showing at the Vue!! I was worried it was getting a limited release or restricted to the odeon (and it's an odious odeon in Oxford). So yeah Oxford Vue here I come :D

Hey Winterbird, for once I'm very glad to say that must have been a mistake you saw for it is indeed our Brothers at the Vue :DD

Hi Anon! They've made a mistake on parts of the Vue website - not good for Brothers business. I wonder if it's different servers. It's right for me when I go to that same cinema.

I suggest you phone the cinema. I'm gonna twitter at Vue!

Pickle said...

Thanks for your reply, winterbird, but don't worry, I checked my local Vue cinema time for the next week (they have already scheduled it!)and the film called brothers on line was directed by Jim Sheridan and starring Tobey, Jake and Natalie!
No mistaken of any different title movie.

My BBM fansite co-host in Japan is also very happy because she coould confirm recently that Jake's Brothers will be released in Japan in May this year too!
I wonder what the releasing title would be over there because they already have the movie called Brothers directed by Takeshi Kitano (somehow highly regarded in the UK as a Japanese current working director...). The friend also had already seen the original Danish movie over there as well and said she is looking forward to see Jake's version of Sam.

Have a nice day everyone.

Hi Pickle - it's good advice, people should phone the cinema if not sure as the site has made a cockup.

That's good news about Japan! Of course, Jake plays Tommy not Sam :D Interesting to hear if they change the name.

I'd never heard of Blue Monday but your guide is very beautiful and quite effective. :)

That pic of Jack and the Blue Healer is one of my favorites. I love that scene, with the lightning in the background. One of the things I always like to pay attention to when I watch BBM is the sky. It's always beautiful. Even the sky in the Earl scene, it's quite a contrast to the grey and beige of the rest of the scenery and the horror of what's happening.

It's my BBM anniversary today, I can't believe it's been 4 years already. I can't wait to watch it friday night. :)

Ahh! A BBM anniversary :D Mine's comingup too. 4 years - amazing. I love the sky scenes, the wide open spaces. That was a big reason why I went to see it in the first place. That and because it had Wet Sam in it. Little did I know.... Enjoy the viewing on Friday.

New post :)

I liked the shopping ones and the two Jack Twists (I am trying to remember the 2nd one, it's been a while since I watched BBM)

Thanks so much WDW for the wonderful pics of Jake
