As Prince of Persia gets ready for its first screening in front of the critics at ShoWest in Las Vegas later this week, Disney has released another featurette. In Young Dastan we see Willian Foster play a young Jake Gyllenhaal and living out his parkour dream of training along side the master, David Belle.
There isn't much Jake in this featurette, although there is a little, but there are some incredible shots of the most fabulous set and more hints at a great storyline. And for a moment we get a shot of Dastan and Dastan.
Mike Newell on Prince of Persia: 'It’s a classic tale of someone having their world turned upside down by extraordinary circumstances and having to use all their resources to come out the other side... I also loved the idea of going to a place I had never been before. We had the freedom to create this whole amazing world because no one knows exactly what it looked like. The time period is also one when people took stories very seriously, and there wasn’t a division between what was a fable and what was real. To me the story of the film feels like one of the great myths: something that’s quite simple in a way, but bites very deep and you remember it life-long.'
On Jake: 'You had to have someone of a certain age... The prince had to have a command of the screen, which Jake obviously does and is partly what makes Jake a very interesting actor. I looked around and Jake was the first name that came into my head. And though I did meet lots and lots of other actors, I kept coming back to him.'

Morning all! well, this is a good start to the day :D
And St Patrick's Day too :)
OK, this young Jake Gyllenhaal... I approve :)
Mornnig!
Good Morning...kettle's on! I've been quite behind on everything lately so it's always so great to come here and catch up! Please don't ever ever ever ever stop doing this WDW, okay?!?!
Maybe I'm overtired but I had tears in my eyes watching the young Dastan featurette - LOL! But it's true!
It still amazes me that there has been so much Jake news every single day and this is all BEFORE the real PoP push...this is just the little everyday "tid bits". Can you imagine what mid-May to early June will be like?! WDW, you may have to quit your day job!!
I'm loving all this great stuff but not loving that I can't always sit back and enjoy it these days with some crazy days happening here. I need to fix that!
LMAO at needing caterers for the posts...you're right WDW. I don't know how to make cupcakes but am more than happy to bring a few bottles of vino!
Have a good day...hope to stop by again later! :-)
Hi Winterbird! Me too :D
You're up early BBMISwear :-) Thanks for poutting the kettle on! That boy looks amazing and clearly he's going to be bloody good. The plot for this just looks better and better. Yep, it's not gonna be easy keeping up - it does feel like a full time job sometimes - which is good - just need more hours :D Ooh, thanks for the offer of the bottles of vino! Hope we see you later :-)
Amazing, just amazing. This makes the film even more fun and interesting. William Foster seems really athletic too.
It really is, Anon! I wasn't expecting to enjoy so much a featurette that didn't focus on Jake, but it's so exciting and this William is amazing. Love his respect for David Belle :D
Mini Jake looks good :) I heard POP is screening tommorrow, leaving the best till last i suppose. Toy story screened yesterday and got generally positive feedback. I'm nervous for the reviews, i really hope they're positive!! Fingers crossed.
Silver
Woohoo! I talked to my brother about going to Beloeil to see POP at the D-Box theater and he said it was a good idea!!! So it looks like I'll be going on a little trip with him and my sister-in-law! LOL! This is gonna be awsome!
I really enjoyed the new featurette, that little boy is very good at parkour.
