Jake Gyllenhaal takes on ostriches, crocs and celebrity dining. And a WDW Interlude

Those Disney Movie Surfers have been chasing Jake Gyllenhaal around Morocco again. But before we get to the video I have to warn you. The scenes you are about to see contain images so shocking and so disturbing, I want you to think seriously about whether it's in your best interests to watch them. This video - worryingly unrated - contains - completely gratuitously, I'm sure you'll agree - Ostrich Peril.

Jake Gyllenhaal is on record for calling ostriches 'sweet' but obviously he said that in all innocence of what lay before him in the filming of this movie. Consider yourself warned.

Thanks to IHJ for their brave work in bringing this to light.

Not surprisingly, Jake Gyllenhaal is now taking it easy back in Los Angeles, where he is filling his time by catching up with his famous pals before heading off to answer lots of questions about what it's like turning a videogame into a movie and did he do his own stunts. Yesterday Jake was seen at Mozza eating pizza (possibly) with Gwyneth Paltrow and Adam Levine. I have no doubt whatsoever that, yet again, Gwyneth was having to bear the brunt of Jake's 'There once was a movie called Proof' limericks.

Jake was also seen having breakfast with Anne Hathaway yesterday at Blu Jam Cafe on Melrose. I'm not going to comment on this because of what it does to my wish fulfilment fantasies. The 'best breakfast in Los Angeles' tag though may be worth remembering.

Before Jake left Montreal, he did manage to give us another glimpse of himself as Colter - complete with fatigues and Atticus. However, I'm sure like me, two things have not escaped your attention - as if the ostriches aren't enough shock for one evening.

1. Jake is wearing (and I can hardly stand to say the word) crocs. Crocs! Duncan Jones, what have you done to him?!

2. Jake is wearing his earphones the wrong way round. I can hardly believe it either...

Updated to add a couple of pictures from Punkd of Jake leaving Montreal on Friday. Can someone recognise the hoodie?

A WDW Interlude

As threatened yesterday, here is a WDW Interlude, courtesy of a fine spring day and a fuel-guzzling, bumpy motorbike with no panniers. This time we went west which, after some miles, can only mean one thing in England - Wales. So after Gloucester, we found ourselves at Chepstow Castle in the Welsh borders...

...before making our way to Tintern Abbey, a place that photos can never approach with justice. Other photos show the view from Symonds Yat (peregrines were nesting there but all I saw was a plastic one and a chaffinch) and Goodrich Castle, which was carved out of red rock. If I could also share with you the pain of sitting on a motorbike for an entire day, I willingly would.

Pictures from links, IHJ and WDW.

I saw some pics of jake at airport over on gbabble. Nice post x

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one a bit disturbed by the crocs. He is the only person who can get away with wearing them though.

I love your photos. I tried to view Symonds Yat a few years ago and it was closed, due the Foot and Mouth crisis. :( So was the Forest of Dean. How could they close a forest? :D

Tintern Abbey was open though. It's a lovely place.

I can't play the video. :( Apparently it's private and I'm not a friend. *sobs*

Let me guess: wishful thinking that Anne could turn Jake straight!

Ah, I got the video to play. I'm not a social pariah afterall!

Beautiful pics again, WDW. I love castles and arch-shaped windows, and these are beautiful. I love the 4th and 5th pics.

Jake is just so unff sexy in Prince of Persia - it's fun to see it all coming together. Gemma is beautiful, I love her character - the scenery is stunning, and all the characters are believable, and gorgeous. Costumes, the details of the sets - everything. Jake's action is really believable, they really did capture that epic feel. The expressions on their faces - *swoon*. I can't stand the wait! :)

Thanks Anon!

You certainly weren't, Leslie! This is the second time we've seen Jake wearing crocs and we're gonna have words!!

Hi Rubes, there was a problem with the first vid, so I've just replaced it with the new version! So I hope that works.

So glad you like my pics, as your photos are an inspiration to me. Symonds Yat is stunning, just stunning - and a new tea hut at the top since when I was last there years ago. I'll put some pics on Flickr as I want you to see my chaffinch pic!

They shut the entire forest? Blimey... Tintern is gorgeous :D And so is Goodrich, but we were a bit late for there.

Hi ! - That's not exactly, or even remotely a little bit, what I meant... Thanks for the link :)

Glad you can see it Ruby!

Thanks for such a lovely comment, Anon! Posting at the same time :D (Love to have a name for you, btw :))

I'm glad you liked the photos - these are such beautiful places. I totally agree about PoP - the attention to detail is just stunning and I can't wait to see the full results :)

The visitor centre was open and you could drive through the forest, but they'd closed the car parks and all the walking trails. Not good since we'd booked the week to go walking. :( We ending up spending a lot of time in Ross-on-Wye and in the bookshops in Hay-on Wye (which, as you can imagine, was no great hardship).

I'll check out your chaffinch (ooer!!) if you'll check out my blackbird pic.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

That sounds like quite a hardship, Rubes :D Love Hay and had dinner in Ross last night. Yeah, I'll swap you a chaffinch for a blackbird. May throw in a sparrow.

We're seeing Rufus tomorrow!

Ha!Ha!Ha! I love the second pic! I wish I had more ostriches to recreate this scene in Legos. :DDD

Saw the crocs, at least they aren't orange. *eye roll*

Love your interlude pics. England is such a beautiful place!

Did you see that Jake will be on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross on May 7th? Or was it in one of your posts and I missed it?

Ah!! Just what I needed for such a crappy day. Jake's expressions in those stills are priceless. Can't wait for this movie!

I've never seen anyone look so hot just getting on an airplane. Yum.

The crocs, yeah...I don't get why ANYONE wears those, to be honest.

And, WDW, apparently we have the same train of thought when it comes to wishful thinking. ;-) If only there were pics...

BTW, to make this post even longer...for some reason I decided to go down memory lane and read some old livejournal entries. I saw my review of BBM back in Feb of '06 and it was full of Jake gushing and Heath love. I even called him Jake 'F*cking' Gyllenhaal. LOL And that was when I declared my obsession with Mr. G. Ah, the memories.

Thought I would share that tidbit for my fellow Gyllenhaalics.

And you are a one-woman PR machine for the British tourism. Makes me want to come over there even more.

Hi! Another lovely WDW interlude!! I am so envious about all the beautiful places you have next door... (LOL, I guess I have them, too, but just don't appreciate them as much as I probably should... Well, what can I say... I am an anglophile... :D :D) I am not envious about your hurting bum, though. No need to share that... :D :D

I watched the videos of these last few days now... I remember when there were those shirtless pics of Jake on the set of PoP with his then girlfriend... I didn't like his body in those pics because he looked way too bulked up. But in the video from a few days ago he looks just great and I am saying that although I like him better when he looks slimmer... But to see that body moving is just breathtaking...

And the stunts, all the jumping and somersaults... I have to say I never cared much for this kind of thing, but now that it is Jake who is doing this I find myself always in awe when I watch him doing those stunts... And I am always like "Is that really him?? WOW!" I especially love the one where he is jumping down on that rope in this loooong somersault kind of thing... So graceful! Sigh... I'm in love, LOL!

My love gets dampened a bit by the Croc thing, though... And I am not sure Duncan Jones is to blame... Remember, we saw Jake in Crocs before! And what's worse: It was a different pair!!! So he has at least TWO! Damn! :D :D

I don't understand what you mean with the earphones the wrong way round, though... Huh?

Glad to hear Jake seems to be having a good time in Los Angeles!
And the breakfast with Anne made me smile... I might share some of your wish fulfilment thing... Although you know I have other wishes as well... :D :D :D

I wish everybody a good start into the new week!!

Jake is looking particularly yummy in the Prince of Persia stills you posted.
I think Anne would be a fitting girlfriend for Jake and I think she'll make a good mother one day.

Thanks for the updates! :)

HectorRochas: I just ran into Jake Gyllenhal and Busy Phillips at Hollywood Farmers Market.

^^

Busy is Matilda's godmother and Michelle's friend. :)

Jake had to bulk-up for the role because that's how the Prince in the Game looks.
I'm sure if he didn't then we'd be hearing complaints about that.
I love the scene where he starts to jump on the wall and falls back.
Wow, an Ostrich stampede. You don't see that a lot.

Hi Olympia! We should pool our ostriches together :D It's great about Jake appearing on the JR Show - I put a link to the JR Show a couple of days ago, but not surprised you missed it :D

Hey Stace! Sorry to hear you had a bad day :( Hopefully the pics have helped. I totally agree about the crocs - ugh...

Hi Uli! There are some lovely places by you - I hope to come over and explore them with you at some time :D

Seeing Jake's physique in motion like that - stunning. Crocs, less so! I think Jake must be wearing them just because we get at him when he does!

Jake's wearing iPod earphones which, at least for me, have the voice control on the right side. But Jake has it on the left side :DD

Hi JakeFan! I love Anne and I'm really glad they're friends and see each other off set :D

That's a great tweet, Tweet! Love to hear that :D

Hi Anon - I can't hear anyone complaining... on the contrary. I can't wait to see these scenes :D

gyllenhaalisgr8 said...

Evidently you missed his OLIVE and ORANGE crocs! I just posted the pic on my twitpic account (twitter/gyllenhaalisgr8). And I personally think Jake and Jennifer Aniston would be a great match! Think about it.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Gyllenhaalisgr8! I most certainly haven't forgotten those crocs! As I mentioned above, this is the second time he's worn crocs and Uli mentions them above too :D I was so sure he wouldn't wear them again :) Yep, Jen is my favourite - great chemistry with Jake, but I do like Anne - she makes me laugh.

Loved the video, WDW! And the interlude was just perfect! Tintern Abbey...hmmm. I recall a poem about Tintern Abbey...

BTW: One of my all time favorite historical fiction writers is Sharon Kay Penman: Here Be Dragons, about Wales is superb.

Glad Jake's been able to catch up with friends.I hope they all turn out to support his movie opening!

Carol said...

Great pics and I love to hear Jake catching up with Anne too.

I may be in the minority here but I like Jake have been have been seen in a pair of Crocs now and again!!! Not the most visually pleasing footwear I admit (and I'm a shoe addict) but have to say so so comfortable:)

Love the pics of your trip WDW. Rufus tomorrow night. Enjoy. I'm meant to see him in Dublin on Wednesday night - ash cloud permitting:)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Anon! I love that poem :D And OMG that book by Sharon Penman is one of my all time favourites!!! I love her books! The Lady of Hay was one of the books that altered my life when I was a teenager. Here Be Dragons is amazing - makes me want to soak Welsh history up. Edith Pargeter too. Have you read those?

Hey Carol! I know what a shoe person you are! So I'm chuckling at you with the crocs :D I love that you're seeing Rufus the same week as me and Rubes :D But yeah, travel's fine now so I hope you enjoy it!

I will confess. After I saw "Pandaemonium," with Linus Roache and Tom Wilkinson, I didn't like Wordsworth anymore.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi 21:44 - I've not seen that. Did you see Bright Star?

Anonymous said...

I may be going crazy..but it looks like, at 0:49 on the video, that Jake and Gemma are the other way round :P

I think Jake makes crocs look good!! :D He looks so comfy and cuddly in his airport gear too :)

Love the pics, i enjoy your interludes WDW!

Is Jake definatley confirmed for the JR show!?!?! That makes me so happy :D!!! I love Friday night with JR, im so sad it's finishing :(

My two fave shows were/are Film 2010 with JR and friday night with JR...and i don't even like JR that much, hehe :P

I did. WD, you really must rent it. It tells Coleridge's story and it was amazing. Much more complex and very powerful, IMO. Wilkinson's Wordsworth was diabolical. I like Roache very much. Did you see him and Robert Carlyle in "Priest?" Again, with Wilkinson.

I didn't care for the perspective of Bright Star. I thought the acting job of the man who played Keat's "best friend" was overlooked. He was very impressive.

Didn't feel too much sympathy for Abbie's character, tho I do think Abbie is a fine actress. I'm somewhat biased toward Heath's friends. (Wisham's too thin. Even for Keats.)

Just wanted to add, at least the crocs were navy. They might have been orange...Ugh!

Get Real said...

More PoP goodies...nice.

Jake and Gemma seem to have really nice chemistry. and LOL at him and the ostriches!

I think he looks good at the airport and onset SC. Even though I am not a fan of Crocs, as are most here, they are supposed to be comfortable and since they are black I will give him a pass. Just as long as he doesn't wear them all the time. :p

Really great to read tweets that he is out with friends. I like those folks too, especially Anne.

WDW, your pics are gorgeous! I loved seeing the castles in Europe. I so want to go to your area and see those castles up close.

Get Real said...

Sorry, I was wrong on the black Crocs, guess they are navy. As long as they are not those awful bright colors, like the Mario Batali orange, I can manage them. :p

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Silver! Comfy and cuddly is a great way to describe Jake! At the moment Jake is TBC on the JR Show fr 7 May but it looks pretty likely :) Can't wait to see him on that again.

I did see that, 21:44 :) Wilkinson is such a great actor. I enjoyed Bright Star but I have a thing against anaemic poets who die young - I can't help it. Abbie Cornish I have no such problems with! Orange crocs are bad - I could have that as a motto sewn on my pillow...

Hey Get Real! I'm so glad you liked the pics. Anytime you can get over here, I'd love to show you around :D Yeah, the colour is better, I'll give them that :D

gyllenhaalisgr8 said...

Sentimental me, I guess I just want to keep the blue eyes in the Gyllenhaal line. Talking like a mother, there are very few women out there good enough for Jake! Right now I can't even come up with two, LOL!

Must drop in to wish you a belated Happy 3rd Birthday,WDW! I may not have had chance of late to be the regular contributor I once was,but this is still where my achey-Jakey-heart calls home ;-) Keep up the great work my friend.

To 21.44, I too would heartily recommend "Priest", a thought-provoking and heart-rending film, typically Jimmy McGovern, with fabulous performances from Messrs Roache,Carlyle and Wilkinson and a young Christine Tremarco.

And to "!", posting at 19.1,you beat me to the punchline, thanks for the chuckle! ;-)

Nadine xx

Also have to say how nice it is to see Atticus too. :)

I went to the cinema to see Alice and I saw the trailer of POP. So nice to see Jake on the big screen again!
It was good, because there were many teenagers and children in the theater.

Johnny Depp and Helena are great as always. Unfortunately I can not say the same about Anne Hathaway.
She was very bad. I think it's the worst performance I've ever seen of her.

I like Anne too. She is funny and full of class.

My sister has a croc. It is ugly but very comfortable.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the update, WDW. Jake looks hot. And his bud Atticus looked so relaxed, just chilling.

I'm glad he's hanging with his friends, he deserves it after all the hard work he did on SC. Jumping on trains and fighting will take a lot out of you.

I wonder if he'll ever be able to look at an ostrich the same way again

Good morning! It's Rufus Day!

Good to see you Nadine! It's good to know you're still reading *) Hope things are good with you!

It is, get Real! He looks particularly adorable in these pictures. I suppose he must be quite used to flying :)

Morning Monica! That's great you saw the trailer! Jake looks so good on that big screen :D I ddn't go and see Alice - I knew I wouldn't like it at all.

Hi there Sweetpea :D At least the next time Jake works with ostriches (a regular circumstance through his career, no doubt) he'll be able to show them who's boss :)

have a great day everyone. Shame it's Monday - but anyday with Rufus in it can't be bad!

New post - VERY exciting news!

Thanks for the link, WDW...this is one time I wish I was still unemployed. LOL Taking 5 days off work now would not look good to my bosses. Even if it is for Jake. *sigh*
