Meet Coulter Stevens! Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan filming Source Code in Chicago

Today we get our first proper look at Jake Gyllenhaal as Coulter Stevens, his time travelling character in the SciFi Source Code, who has to relive a catastrophic explosion on a train over and over again. Here we see Jake with his co-star, the lovely Michelle Monaghan, filming in Millennium Park, Chicago, on 9 April, The briefest survey of Twitter shows what a stir this caused for those lucky enough to catch a glimpse. You can read more about Jake's take on Source Code in one of the interveiws in this post. Many thanks to IHJ for these wonderful photos - there are many more there.

This post will be updated later today when I'm back from the seaside!

I went to bed after seeing a few SC set pics and woke up to a ton of SC set pics...Whoowheee! I just love Jake Movie Set Pics!!! So good to finally see pictures like these with most of the movie being shot behind closed doors.

Have a great day in the sun WDW. Will you get a chance to play with your Leogs later? LMAO!!

P.S. To Paul...I can imagine what it's like being so close to the Charles River. We've had issues here a little north of Boston near the Aberjona River. This has been the worst start of a spring in this area ever, I think!

Wow, Coulter is gorgeous! There`s something about Jake in a long coat, he wears them so well and always looks so good in them. Some of my favorite pics of Jake are of him arriving at the Baftas in that long black coat. Yum!

I wonder what it`s like to shoot a movie with so many onlookers, I`d feel self conscious. It`s like if I was working at my desk with 10 people standing there watching me and taking pics. :D

How cool that Duncan responded to your tweet! You know, I really enjoy getting all this information about Jake`s movie shoots. It`s really fun and interesting.

I hope you have a nice day outside. Enjoy that sun. :)

Wow, it's amazing how Jake can transform himself into character - he looks just like a commuter going to work. Well, maybe not quite like any commuter . . . ;) It's going to be great from the sounds of it!

[An aside for BBMIswear:
The Aberjona River flows through Woburn, doesn't it? The North Shore was hit harder than Boston was. My parents, who live north of Worcester, have no rivers near them, but their little brook was so swollen that it covered their driveway. If they had needed emergency assistance, it would have been hard to get to them]

All this time, I've been hazy on the plot for "Source Code," but now I think I'm figuring it out: Jake travels back in time to a horrific event in a train station. Not unlike "Time-Traveller's Wife," which had Eric Bana appearing naked in different times and places. Yesssss!

Love the pics today, all is great at the moment! So much on here but had some time today to watch all of the Wondercon stuff properly and just wondering something - the video of the panel when a lady asks Jake a question and tells him he is pretty he says something back and then she says something and he is like oh sorry! Does anyone know what was said, I cannot hear it ;D

Hey Karen,

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the jist of it is, there was a new audience member that told Jake she thought he was pretty too. She was immediately AFTER the girl that said it originally. And Jake said something to the effect that if he was drunk he'd say the same thing to her(not an exact quote, mind). But, then he realizes that he forgot his filter and immediately apologized then apologized again after he answered her question. So adorable. His sense of humor is so much like all the guy friends that I have.

Ohh, these pics are so great!!! Jake is looking amazing here. Makes me very excited for SC and Jake is looking so suave in the part!

I want to go to Chicago too. Such a great city.

I finally caught up on all the videos!!! Except for Jake answering the 4th Facebook question. Anyone know where I can find that?

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Stace and Karen! i just rewatched that, haha it's hilarious. I wouldnt be able to say that without breaking down and crying (probably).

The second girl goes "ill have to second that" about the prettyness

Then Jake goes "god if you weren't silluetted i'd be able to say the same thing"

Than i've no idea what happens! Stace, what do you mean he forgot his filter? did he swear :P?

Just out of curiosity, when did the character's name go from "Colter" (in the Ben Ripley draft) to "Coulter"? Anyone?

lovely pictures. He looks like he is having so much fun. And he and Michelle make a wonderful onscreen couple (I wonder who her character is in reference to Colter? )

I wish I were in Chicago. I hope Jake makes a movie that takes place in DC. I'll be there!

Gorgeous pictures as usual WDW. Very much looking forward to source code. I like the excitement that's building for it and it hasn't even wrapped yet.

The various descriptions and speculation about the storyline makes me think of elements of Deja Vu with Denzel.

Hope you had a good day by the sea :D

Hi there everyone! Just got back from a lovely day by the sea and at Corfe castle. I swear I will never be able to eat again - I've done my bit for the Dorset clotted cream and scones industry. I've got a Devon double apple cake in the boot of my car if anyone fancies it...

Thanks so much for all the comments - apologies that I'm not able to answer them all right now but I'm enjoying reading them and seeing conversations going on :) Thanks for that.

I was at Millennium Park when Jake and Michelle were shooting for the film. A scene was filmed in The Bean and I was fortunate to be inside when they filmed it. Look for me! :) Looks to be a great movie!

Hey there Joshe! That's amazing! So they kept the place open when the filming went on? I would love to know more about what you saw! Thanks for popping by :D
