Roll out the red carpet! Tonight Prince of Persia has its American premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. This evening, Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton and a host of stars from Jerry Bruckheimer's other runaway successes will walk the red carpet and celebrate the career of this great producer. Jerry himself will also leave his mark on procedings in the shape of his hand and footprints, a perfect and permanent reminder of what will be a fantastic event. And you can watch it all right here on WDW. Just keep an eye on this video below as the time approaches for the stars to arrive (between 5 and 6pm Hollywood time).

But in the hours to come before the premiere, there are yet more PoP goodies to keep us entertained. And to all those fans who have made it to Hollywood to watch and gain memories of their own, we are with you in spirit (and indeed, as the night draws on, in spirits). So let's put smiles on our faces first - in this interview, Jake and Gemma find themselves interviewed by their own son! Dastan Jr. I think he's been overindulged. Fortunately His Royal Highness Nizam is there to terrify him appropriately. Intriguingly, Dastan Jr is German.
I must say, these PoP press junkets seem a million miles away from those we saw for Rendition, when the most Jake had to joke about was piecharts and how this was his first torture. Admittedly, these two films are not comparable, but even so, it must make a change to be interviewed by someone dressed as your early medieval Persian/German son who has his own spangly dagger of time and some salt.
We also have an audio interview with Jake Gyllenhaal and absolutely everyone else who was involved in this film, ever. You can listen to that here.
Disney has sent me a new clip from this most magical of films. Take a look and count those days until we're all in the theatres. Another self-plug coming up... I have written my own (non-spoilery) review of Prince of Persia and you can read it here. I hope you enjoy it.
NME may be a serious music mag but it recognises that in Jake Gyllenhaal we have a serious lover of British music - he has publicly supported a number of Brit bands in the past, including the Guillemots and, more recently, Mumford & Sons. Therefore it's great that they had their own interview with Jake and asked him about other British bands that he enjoys: '"At the moment I'm really into Mumford and Sons," he said. "I really love them, and Laura Marling. I think I may go see Florence And The Machine, which I'm really looking forward too."' I'm not familiar with Laura, although I'll check her out, but Florence and the Machine's Lung is a fantastic album and it's good to hear Jake likes it.
What else does Jake say in NME? Jake's name has been (loosely) connected to a Kurt Kobain biopic and here Jake says: 'I don't know if I'd be the right choice – but the hair from Prince of Persia could translate somehow. We could just bleach it!' Please don't! You can read more at NME.
We also have an Italian interview with Jake. It is, not surprisingly in Italian. Nevertheless, I studied Latin for two years and if I can cope with Catullus and Juvenal, I'm sure I can deal with Jake speaking Italian. Perhaps not... Anyway, it has some interesting moments, including Jake saying that he only 'went out to dinner' with Isabel Lucas (this does not make him engaged). He likes being single and it's all about 'beer and junk food' (I think he's joking - but maybe not!). And when you're in a couple, this can mean you shut others out and neglect them 'I'm trying to fix this' and that he's spending his time with his family. Jake also speaks of his goddaugter Matilda Ledger: 'I see her whenever I can, when she comes to Los Angeles with her mother.'
Jake's favourite fairytale as a child was 'The Sword in the Stone' - a tale of Arthur and a boy called Wart by T H White - and it still is. 'My father always read it to me and my sister before we went to sleep.' Many thanks to friends for this link.
Now this is strange... Imagine you're waiting for your bus - trying hard not to get distracted by the glorious full-colour posters of Jake Gyllenhaal and his arms at each end of the shelter - and then suddenly they speak to you. Yes, if you have an iPhone and the correct App, this will happen. Read more here. Let's hope they don't do this with Piranha 3D.
So! The countdown is on and soon Jake Gyllenhaal will shine his way across the LA red carpet, just as he did in London a week ago. Bring it on! And remember, you can watch it all here, live on WDW. Just refresh that first video. Next week Jake will be appearing on a number of US talkshows - stay tuned for details and look out for their listing on the front page of WDW.
Pictures from links, Disney and IHJ. More info on the film itself from the official Prince of Persia site. You can also watch the livestreaming at the Prince of Persia Facebook page.

Thanks WDW :)
I especially love that interview with the German Man/Boy (Dastans son!?!?! haha) I thought it was hilarious. I think the PoP "crew" are so lovely. Gemma and Sir Ben really make me laugh :)
Hehe, Jake as Kurt Cobain. Well anyone would be better than Robert Pattinson! I think Ewan Mcgregor has the look..
It's nice to hear Jake likes Florence! Yay! I love her music. Zooey Deschanel is in She and Him, I remember Jake doing that song at the Independant Film Awards. Part of its on on youtube, but i've never seen the whole thing :(
I don't think i'll be staying up till 1am to watch the live stream :P My A level exams start tomorrow. BOO. But looking forward to watching all the goodies tomorrow :D i wonder what he'll wear.
Good luck to everyone hoping to see Jake tonight! Make the most of it! :)
Sorry for the loooong comment. I'm just trying to extend the time away from my history books. :P
Silver
Hi Silver! That intrview was hysterical! I thought Sir Ben's reaction was very funny - put a big smile on my face.
Good luck with the A Levels, Silver! What a week for them to start. I did History A Level so I'm thinking of you (and I can still remember the dates of the treaties...). Hopefully you can spend some time with Dastan when you're done :)
What a fantastic two weeks! I can't keep up. LMAO at that interview, it really was amazing (there's that word - I can't help it :).
... And I don't think it was salt either ;D
I've only got through that first interview, so thanks for this smorgasboard of delicious PoP treats while we wait for the LA premier. Even Jerry Bruckheimer has tweeted about how excited he is about the Premier and Graumans. Jake's enthusiasm and excitement is definitely infectious.
Cannot wait to see his beauty at our local IMAX on Friday. Off to watch the interview again ....
Oh, I meant to say that Times article was so beautiful and the picture made me gasp when I opened the page. I hadn't bought The Times since my Uni days, it was good to revisit and it's a lot more modern now. And good luck with your exams Silver.
I stayed a few days away and it seems that I was an eternity! The worst is that I do not have time to watch all these videos!
Jake also speaks of his goddaugter Matilda Ledger: 'I see her whenever I can, when she comes to Los Angeles with her mother.'
Awwwww
I love that girl. I read an article in the New York Times about her and a boy who was one of the loveliest things I read.
She is so charming!
Thanks for all this information, wet dark.
Looking forward to the LA premiere tonight!! :D
Also, I think Jake has really good taste in music.
Lovely to see you, Sheba! It's so exciting. The last week has been incredible and the two ahead... I can hardly believe it. I'm thinking about heading to the London INAX this weekend. The Times spread was stunning. I wish I could do justice to it with a scan.
Hey Monica! Good to see you. I hope you can catch up - there's so much. I'm cataloguing it! It was wonderful to hear Jake talk about Matilda and Michelle. Jake seems to be in such a good place in his life. Happy and strong :D
Me too, Anon!
Hi Get Real! Posting at the same time :) Great taste in music! I love Jake's music taste, it's one of the many things I enjoy him for.
Hi WDW,
Lovely interviews. Great to hear about Matilda.
Good luck with the livestreaming. I hope we get to see some on video.
TeiDe
That interview with Dastan Jr has to be one of the funniest I've ever seen, very clever! I'm happy that they included Jakes initial reaction to Dastan Jr. at the end of the clip. I do have to confess I became very giggly seeing him laugh so much over his 'son'.
After reading Jake discuss Mumford & Sons and Spoon in GQ I gave both bands a listen and have enjoyed them both. I've already added some of the bands he mentioned in NME to my ipod. I'm a big music lover so I really like discovering new music!
I can appreciate his comment on being in a relationship & shutting others out. I went through a break up in December and can definitely relate to what he's said (especially the beer and junk food part) ;-)
It's almost time for the LA Premiere, can't wait to see Jake :D
Terrific post WDW! The Dastan Jr. interview is hysterical! I loved that Italian interview the moment I saw it...he says a lot (even if it has to be translated)!
I read your MB review and loved it...will comment properly there! I haven't listened to the audio interview yet and need to check out the ad/iphone thing...Wow! Disney is crazy (I mean that in a good way).
I saw the NME video earlier today...always love hearing Jake talk about the music he listens to. That video clip Disney sent to you is fantastic...and it is one of the scenes Jake said he loved doing best! :-)
So much stuff...every single day...what a month! More to come...waiting now for the live broadcast (hurry up LA)!!
Until next time... :-)
Just watched Jake be totally adorable on the Ustream....squee!!! :D :D :D
Jake was great on the red carpet (per usual) - I loved how he spoke about Jerry (so sincere), Tom Cruise, Gemma, etc. But I have to say this was possibly the worst professional live broadcast I have ever seen in my life! The interviewers were horrible and the camera work was even worse. Seriously...it was at the level of a high school audio/visual club! Do the producers of this thing think that us viewers want to hear the interviewers talk about the stars being "so close they can touch them but, sorry, the camera can't pan that way"? (Again I reference a high school audio/visual club who actually owns cameras that DO pan that way)! How about when they let us see a quick glimpse of the cast being photographed together but cut to close ups of the interviewers talking and joking about Top Gun? And then later say "It was so great to stand here so close to the cast when they were being photographed - maybe we'll be in the photos"! Hellllooooo?! Who on earth set this thing up?! Bad quality all the way around.
But Jake was GREAT and that's why I watched so I was happy about that - hee hee!! Sorry about the rant...but it's the truth!!
Looking forward to good clips and photos tomorrow (when I don't have to listen to these people talk or watch the crappy camera work). Can we watch the London Premiere again?! LOL! :-)
There are photos from the premiere on IHJ already!! Crikey!! Good for me because I couldn't see anything. My connection is too slow tonight...
Yay Jake!!
Morning all! I put a new post up - an initial report. I've not seen any of it yet.
Interesting to hear what you say, BBMISwear :-) I must say this looks and sounds a million miles away from the London premiere. That sounds very frustrating. My initial thoughts are that I like Tom and I love Nic Cage, but I prefer to see Jake standing in the middle and not at the end of a line, when it's his film that's premiering. But not seen any of it yet.
Back later!
