[Updated update] Jake Gyllenhaal, 'singing all over these interviews' and new pictures of Jake shopping in LA yesterday (2 June) and at the gym today

[Updated update] Demonstrating once again, how much Jake is like a much-longed for bus, I'm updating the post once more with pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal leaving the gym today (3 June) after giving his hair - and abs, perhaps - a good workout. Source.

[Updated - already] Jake Gyllenhaal was seen out and about shopping in LA yesterday where he took a moment to text me to see if I wanted ice-cream or custard with my poached pear. Source.

It's getting late this evening - warm sunshine dragged me up a prehistoric hillfort and there's nothing like a vigorous walk and a pint of best bitter in a thatched pub to make one sleepy. There's only one thing for it - I need Jake Gyllenhaal to sing to me. And not about karete hedgehogs this time. Kind of Jake to oblige.

Jake has been interviewed for Ask Men and you'll be pleased to hear he's talking about cadences and pianos again: 'I liken movies to playing a piano: Sometimes you’re playing the chords and different notes with unresolved cadences and playing all major chords that are all over the place and you’re enjoying yourself with a great, simple melody. You know I love that type of music just as much as the complicated introverted complicated stuff. This happens to be a whole lot of really fun major chords for kids and families and everyone. I should be singing my answer!'

Abs: 'I don’t know if I have enough time to go into specifically how much they mean to me. But they make me who I am. Without them, I don’t know. At awards shows, I will always thank them, that and the hair. I think I’m going to make my hair jealous in the movie, anything about my abs. If you don’t mind, I would like to include my hair in this comment and so I’d like to say my abs have been a little upset actually that they have been covered by suits and shirts for most of the publicity of this movie so without them, thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about them. I don’t know where I would be without them.'

'The question I always get is how I got into shape. That seems to be from photographs and the trailer which is all they have to go on at this point. It’s interesting to them, seeing me in a different light. But what I would want people to know about the movie -- it's really important to say -- is that I know guys are interested in the movie, but kids! I cannot wait. All over the world at premieres, wherever there was a child, to see their response after was… [huge smile]. I screened the movie for my cousins and family the other day. My cousins were jumping off the seats! They’re anywhere from 6 to 14, and they were terrifying their parents, but jumping off reasonable heights, jumping and fighting, and that’s what I felt like when I saw Indiana Jones when I was a kid. That’s what I want people to know, people ask me if they can take their kids and if it’s too dangerous? And I’m like: "this movie was made for kids, for family." I can tell everybody now, you can take your kids.'

Let's end with another song - the Gyllenhaal song: 'My thoughts on my last name are that it’s already complicated for people and I don’t want to complicate it anymore. I will clear it up. The last name is pronounced Jill-en-hall. It’s spelled with two l’s, two a’s. We have a song in my family; G-Y-Double L - EN - HAAL spells Gyllenhaal. It’s a Swedish name. It’s a family heirloom set to music. I’m singing all over these interviews, aren’t I?'

Thanks to Monica for the heads up on this Brazilian video interview. Here Jake tells us what Prince of Persia is all about - a monkey... I knew that. But can it sing?

Oh God!
Could he BE any cuter? !!! What a lovely post.

I saw POP at the cinema for probably the last time tonite. Six times in total, plus family x3.

I was persuaded to Robin Hood yesterday however, and wished I was watching POP. Robin Hood was dreary, dirty, depressing, wet Britain, with RC being square and everyone being equally brutal to eachother. I never expected to like POP this much but seeing Robin Hood crystallised it for me. Thanks to RC and 'Riddles', I adore POP!

I can't wait for the POP DVD(s).

That first video is so great! I wish it was longer, I love the way he sings that song from his childhood. I can just picture him singing it to his kids some day. :) Isn't it one of the songs he talked about when he did that radio DJ thing? And he got to say "Smashing!", that's something he seems to enjoy a lot. :DD

Hi TD! I'm so glad you liked it - Jake is adorable throughout these interviews and I love the theme of song that goes through it all - that and wanting to make us smile.

I just can't bear the thought of the Robin Hood movie. Thank heavens for PoP!

Hey Olympia! It was one of those songs - I think my heart melted. Smashing! I really must say that more :D

He has a wonderful voice.

I could not go see POP today because my dog is sick. I gave my ticket for my nephew and hope he's having fun.

My friend saw Prince of Persia and said the film is very good. The session was full and the audience received the film very well, and cheered and laughed with the couple Dastan and Tamina.
He said he was surprised with the performance of Jake, who had moments when he forgot that Jake was on the scene.

In my opinion, these pictures in the supermarket are too intrusive.

How appropriate that he sang a song about a fox -- because he IS one! FYI, it's my new answering machine outgoing message! That way when I'm not there to bore not-as-enthusiastic friends with Jake tales, they have to hear him singing, LOL! Ain't technology great?!

Hello all

Haven't read through everything yet but I just heard Jake singing. That was possibly one of the greatest sounds I've ever heard in my life *swoons*

Love those pics of him in the grocery store.

The Gyllenhaal song works with George M Cohan's "Harrigan" song {H-A-double R-I-G-A-N spells Harrigan.] Can Jake be thinking about starring in a movie about Cohan? (Think James Cagney in "Yankee Doodle Dandy")

If you're wondering whether to see "Rpbin Hood," I say it's worth skipping. It's depressing and brutal and remarkably cynical. I don't even like the good guys, and the bad guys are impossible!

Morning all! Another beautiful hot sunny day :D

Hi Linda! I love that too, the way Jake makes us smile :)

Morning Winterbird! Great to see :D

Hi Monica :) Sorry to hear your dog's sick - I hope you're able to see PoP very soon. Sounds like the film is going down very well over there!

That is an excellent use of technology, Gyllenhaalisgr8!

Hi Leslie :D This is possibly the first time when we've heard Jake singing 'properly' and I love it!

Morning Paul! I've not even seen Robin Hood, but I agree with you...

Have a good day everyone! Friday :D

OMG, Jake singing that song is so incredibly sweet and adorable!!! How wonderful to hear his voice like this... You know, not in a mocking way like on SNL or in Bubbleboy and not interfered by Jimmy Fallon... I am definitely NOT a fan of musicals, but I would love love love to see a movie where Jake gets to sing... Sigh, the things Jake makes me want... :D

"Smashing" might just be my new favourite word...

And he is looking gooooood in the pics after the gym...

I hope everybody will have a great last day at work before the weekend... Mine started yesterday - Germany is spoiled with holidays in May/ June... :D

I just went to YouTube and have a complaint! Jake should have sung the whole song, there are many more verses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Thanks for all new and updated information WDW, never apologise for it, it's Smashing :DD I loved that interview with that little excited guy and Jake just toyed with him like a cat with a ball of string, but the interviewer looked like he was enjoying it and held his own in the end. Jake's new movie with Jerry Bruckheimer 'Don't Touch my Patties Princess' will be a smash hit :D

LOL Uli. Loved Jake's unfettered singing voice it's so deliciously sweet. If his dad sings as gorgeous as that no wonder it lulled him to sleep.

GR8 is right, he really is a wylie fox so it's a very appropriate song.

Here's hoping the PoP adventure continues and we can all escape for just a little while longer. I don't even mind the Wimbledon and World Cup interruptions, bring it on :DD

Hi Sabina! I definitely think that the more times you see PoP the better :D It also suits all weathers. It's hot agai here now so I'm ready to see it agin to cool off, whereas last weekend, it was a good place to go to keep dry - perfect :D

Adorable, Uli :D I love the smiling gym pic too. Unfortunately, the UK is not smashing when it comes to long weekends in the summer - we have no more until the end of August :(

Hi Sheba! OMG that patties comment. So funny! Y'know with all the PoP excitement I'd clean forgotten about Wimbledon!

I hope everyone's having a good Friday - it's way too nice to be at work...
