Jake Gyllenhaal and Woody, Jake and Pilot, Jake and Times Square

I saw Toy Story 3 today, which was an extremely good film, no doubt reducing more than a few adults to fits of sobs while the youngsters laughed their ruthless little hearts out. I get back to discover that some people have said that Woody looks like none other than Jake Gyllenhaal. I therefore present a selection of pictures and ask you to see if you can tell which is which.

Jake also has robotic training so which is he?

Talking of toys that look like Jake Gyllenhaal, here's another one that doesn't even though it's supposed to. Nice knife.

Piiiilot

One of Jake's most loved characters is Pilot from Highway - it's pronounced Piilot and is normally prefaced by 'the adorable'. Many thanks to reader Alejandra for the permission to post her stunning interpretation of Pilot. It is a beauty! And so is he.

Interestingly, Cameron Diaz (star of last night's Top Gear along with Tom Cruise) was going out with Jared Leto at the time of Highway's filming and so watched some of the scenes as they were shot, causing a bit of a kerfuffle... You can read the Highway post here.

And finally...

Some more glimpses of Jake in leather, the centre of attention in a cty of bright lights.

Includes pictures from links, Alejandra and IHJ.

Just checked the original Highway post. So much I haven't seen yet, and I think I've been curious enough and seen a lot!
The most amazing thing about Highway is that Jake arguably turned it into a cult film all by himself. Yeah, it's his character -Piiilot- that makes it rather memorable.

And of course, I'm truly honoured my humble tribute to Pilot was posted in my favourite blog. I am working on the other characters Jake has played. Made a list and have some sketches. I must warn you, though: Jack Twist will be particularly difficult as I reckon I'm not that good drawing hats and I will need to practice. :-)

Finally, I'll confess. Before Pilot, I'd made another one. If you wanna see it...

Remember Jake singing on SNL?

Thanks again for your kindness, WDW. I promise I won't spam with drawings.

PS: Woody=Jake always makes me frown. Jake is much more pretty than Woody!

Jake as Woody - I'm laughing!

Pilot Jake was very cute.He looked so young. Interesting to read your post from one year ago about the recreation of Kurt Cobain's service. They really had a good turnout of the locals. And glad to know the movie was shot in 1999 even though it didn't come out until much later.

Cheers

Tui

Jake as Woody:) I agree with Alejandra Jake is far better looking than Woody. Sorry Woody :)

I had to go back to the WDW archives and take another look at that Highway post. I'm a bit of a Jared Leto and 30 Seconds to Mars fan too. Haven't watched that movie in a long time. Will have to pay it another visit again soon.

That's another really great drawing Alejandra. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hi Alejandra! Thanks for checking out the older post - that film had quite a history. I love your Pilot and your SNL Jake is fabulous!!!! I'd love to see more - you're so talented.

oh yes, Jake is much prettier than woody :D

Hi Tui! Thanks for reading it :D A big gap between filming and the DVD - gives me hope for Nailed!

What was that toy designer thinking?! If that is to resemble Jake, I am to resemble Alfred Molina...
He/she also needs to take a few anatomy lessons, judging from that toy's right arm. *big grin*

By contrast, Alejandra your drawings are amazing! I love, love, love the SNL one. :-)

Blimey, I've just realised that Pilot post I linked to was written a year ago today!!! Fate or what :D

Thanks very much to Vanessa for posting on it - welcome! - off to say hello there...

Hi Lady Ekster! Agreed - that toy couldn't look any less like Jake :D

I'm laughing at the Woody (and one little Buzz) comparisons...I've seen that mentioned on the internet A LOT lately and have laughed every time. I don't know why it makes me chuckle so much...I hope Jake is chuckling at it too!

Oh, Pilot - be still my heart - I love that boy. I know you keep forgetting how I feel about him, WDW, but that's okay - I'll keep reminding you - ha ha! When I finally make it to the other side of the pond Ruby and I can squee together over him. I said it before, Alejandra, but I'll say it again...what a wonderful drawing of Pilot. And, OMG I love the SNL one too! You are so talented and I'm so excited to see the other Jake character drawings in the future!

Well I'm back from the 10 day vacay and plowed through a ton of work (and laundry) today so I am treating myself to all that's new in Gyllenland. Thanks for the fun post WDW. Looking forward to some good Jake news this week! *thinks positive*

:-)

WDW, I also meant to post here & forgot.

Cool anime Pilot, Alejandra! I like the SNL one too!

& Woody looks like Jake? Nope, don't see it. Even that $200 plus figure doesn't cut it, the costume & dagger are great though.

I want the LIFE SIZE action figure of Prince Dastan!!! McFarlane made one that is a pretty fair image of Jake, but not sure how big this one actually is > http://www.iheartjakemedia.com/displayimage.php?album=1421&pos=0

Morning all! Back at work - and it's too muggy...

Hey BBMISwear :-) Oh yes, I know you're a Pilot fan! I'm not so keen on the movie itself but there is something... adorable... about Piilot :D Hope you're getting through the laundry ok!

Hello Vanessa! Good to see you on his post! The costumes and details on these figures are really good and then they go and spoil them with putting a very non-Jakey head on them. I think that one you link to (which I can't see at the moment) is the larger 6" figure but because of the angle looks huge! There is the bigger $200 plus one as you say - I like that one. Welcome again!

Have a good day everyone :)
