Jake Gyllenhaal - a hero with his very own cropcircle - and the ultimate lethal workout

Jake Gyllenhaal may not have visited Sweden (yet) - and he may even have got rid of the Volvo - but, nevertheless, according to this Swedish video, Jake is The Hero, drawing all to Heroland. If you've ever wanted to see Jake's face on a hotair balloon drifting past the Eiffel Tower, or you've been longing to have the Ultimate Jake Gyllenhaal cropcircle in your own cornfield, then this is the video for you. And is Jake Gyllenhaal really the hero? Of course - as everyone knows, a UFO cannot be wrong. I would advise against eating small, hard objects while watching this video due to the choking hazard. Thanks very much to TD for the link.

After yesterday's talk of Jake's very early role in Josh and S.A.M. - a film that is consigned to that largely obsolete technology of VHS (for the life of me, I can't get my video to work anymore) - it was great to be sent this screencap from Gretchen.

I particularly liked that picture of young Jake (or Leon as he is in the film) because he kind of reminds me of this Jake:

Many thanks to IHJ for these new old pictures from March 2006 which show Jake and a friend working out in LA at an extraordinarily dangerous sports place where you don't so much buy water as try and catch it.

Please note how I'm not mentioning the socks... and it's really, really hard not to.

Includes pictures from IHJ.

I've written a post this evening on MovieBrit on Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang on the occasion of Emma Thompson receiving her Walk of Fame Star today (with Maggie Gyllenhaal by her side).

*checks over shoulder for Anna* Those Swedes are some crazy people! But lovely. :D

I don't know about the socks, it was the shorts that I noticed first. But I'm not mentioning them either.

Thanks for the link. ;-)

Hey Linda! Ruby does take great pics. Obviously, our cocktail night out was solely so she could get some good bar pics :D It was a great night.

Hey Rubes! Ooh yes, blimey, Anna alert... I didn't know they had UFOs in Sweden.

OMG the shorts... fortunately I didn't notice them so I won't mention them either...

Nice post WDW.

The Swedes are claiming their own!:) Yay - a crop circle even.

How did I get this far along in life without viewing The Socks and The Shorts. :) And to think I had to wait since 2006.

Ah Leon is so cute with a face that carries all the promise of a lovely grown up Jake.

Happy weekend everyone.

Cheers

Tui

What the...?!
Maybe it's me, having just journeyed back from the Forever After World of Shrek into the real world and now unable to put my brain cells to work on this piece of video, but ehm... what is that all about?! My mind boggles.

It is without a doubt though a huge joy to see Jake in a UFO beam. Makes me suddenly appreciate the billions we spend on space investigations. *grin*

That Hero video was amazing!

Hey Tui! Oh Jake has worn some extremely unsexy shorts and socks and sandals combinations over the years. Fortunately, in this case, the upper half did make up for a lot!

Lady Ekster, I sympathise... the video does indeed attack one's hold on reality. Just the idea of Jake's face on a giant hot air ballooon, or beamed down from a UFO - it's a real treat for the senses! Yep, Jake Gyllenhaal is appreciated in space - this is a good thing :D

It really is, Gyllenhaalisgr8!

Sorry for going off topic, but this is something that's new to me and maybe to you guys too. I just read on DVD.nl a Dutch press release on the dvd/bluray/combo release of PoP. Among the things we already know it states that the bluray edition will have 116 minutes run time, while the dvd will have 111 minutes. Makes me wonder... will the bluray edition have an extra scene as a sort of Director's Cut?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

That's interesting Lady Ekster and I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe it's including the extra moments that lead into the behind the scenes glimpses on the Blu-ray. Difficult to say. Thanks for that, Lady Ekster :D

oh this was FUN, I never saw these pics before. You showed some amazing restraint about the socks, WDW.

I loved his Leon look, I wonder if Jake even remembers the part.

I wonder if the video will get Jake to go to Sweden?

It really is fun, Sweetpea! I know, I was good not to mention the socks (or the shorts...).

If anyone's interested, written about Nanny McPhee on MB

I think we may have to name this the "off the wall post" WDW! All the crazy (but fun!) things here...that wacky video, pictures of Josh & SAM Jake, pictures of "why are you wearing those socks?" Jake and Ruby's picture that made me think that is exactly how you girls were seeing things by the end of that night! Funny stuff and all perfect for getting ready to go on holiday!

Busy days for me ahead..but I'll be checking in off and on to see what's new around here... :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hello everyone - enjoyed Knight and Day - not enough Peter though...

He did indeed, KC :)

Hi BBMISwear :-) I know, it's all a bit crazy! That video is insane. Er yeah, that was a bit how I was seeing the world that evening! I do hope you get the chance to pop by during your busy days :)

Love that video, WDW. That was too funny. >;-)

Glad to hear you enjoyed Knight & Day. I meant to see it when it played here & never got the chance, so I will just have to wait for the DVD as it is already gone from the theaters by me.

Do check it out, Vanessa, when it's out on DVD - it packs a punch! (I love that expression :D)

The very distant relatives were Lars Gyllenhaal and his father Herman who in November 2000 was invitated by Jake some days before to visit the set in the Mojave desert.
It was published in the tabloi Aftonbladet. Here is a rough machine translation of the text:

Quote

Four years later, Herman Gyllenhaal went from Sollentuna to Los Angeles to visit Jake and Maggie .

"I was wondering where Jake got his composure , "said Herman Gyllenhaal .

But when Herman noticed on the Internet that they have a common ancestor named Nils Gunnarsson Gyllenhaal , he decided to include her son , Lars , 37 , on a trip to the United States .

"We had dinner together and then we saw Maggie at the theater . Jake then invited us to a film set , "says Herman Gyllenhaal .

How was Jake as a person ?

"He was nineteen years only but it gave the impression he did not . He looked like a kid but radiated a kind of friendliness and responsiveness . I have not been so impressed by a boy in my life that I became of Jake , "he says .

To inform you about the video, its a video You can make to honour those who pay for the Public television in Sweden. You can put Your own photo in to this vidoe if You want. Hats off for the one who put Jakes face in it. It gave the commercial a new depth, even though he probably never paid his televsionfees in Sweden.
Thanks for great blog!!
Love from Sweden...
