WDW meets Duncan Jones!

I am a very lucky WDW - over the years I've met a fair few of the people involved in Jake Gyllenhaal's career, not least Jake Gyllenhaal himself! But tonight I was thrilled to meet Duncan Jones who has impressed audiences and critics alike with the originality and vision that makes up Moon.

Won over, not surprisingly, Jake has been filming Source Code with Duncan, a movie that Jake has described as 'mind blowing' more than once. Tonight, in the same theatre where I saw David Fincher in January 2009, I was lucky enough to see Jake's newest director and, afterwards, so pleased to be able to tell him how much I was looking forward to Source Code. I managed, somewhat illicitly, to film the Q&A and so that will follow but, in the meantime, here is Duncan and my very lovely autograph - my very own Gerty. Thank you Duncan for coming back to London!

Incidentally, and off topically, London was looking beautiful this evening in the late summer sun.

That's great you got to meet Duncan tonight WDW:) I love the autograph that he signed for you.

Looking forward to seeing the illicit footage from the Q&A next time I manage to get back here.

Bye for awhile:)

Hey WDW! Wow, what an amazing day :D I managed to get down to London! It was definitely worth it. Moon on the big screen was perfect. I love that film more every time I watch it.

Duncan is so lovely :) very down to earth and funny. Loved Gavin Rothery too, got some big laughs :P I didn't have the guts to ask a question, would have been nice to hear something about SC but i think the night was solely Moons :) (Did you hear the guy who asked about Indie movies and bad-mouthed Sunshine!? Haha, Duncans face was hilarious.)

I had to rush off at the end to catch 9pm train! Latest i could get, coming from where I do. Sprinted to Waterloo, I would have tried to get an autograph otherwise, I got a smile though! :P :D

I was looking out for you but didn't see you.

Silver

PS That lucky girl asking about the merchandise ;) did you manage to grab one? I was flailing about like a loony. And what a great autograph you got from Duncan! :D

Hello WDW

How great you were able to meet Duncan Jones. Ever since watching that programme of the interview in the car, (Carpool?) I have been interested in his work. I look forward to hearing more. Being in New Zealand, and not able to get to red carpet events and the like,I am just going to have to live vicariously through your meetings with Jake, Peter Saarsgaard, and Duncan Jones. So glad you are there to report on it all, it's greatly appreciated.

Your London snap is so lovely it looks like a postcard - cool. :)

Cheers

Tui

Hi WDW,

You lucky gall ;-)
Thanks so much for sharing with us!

I've seen Moon a couple of times.
Hooked on the OST too.
Definitely one of my favorite movies of recent times.

Duncan Rocks!
Can't wait for Source Code.

Morning everyone - I'm so knackered I can hardly move!

Silver, that's fantastic! I'm so glad you made it all the way to London, I know that's quite a trip. I'm glad you made your train.

Moon was amazing on the big screen (and as I was on the front row it was very big indeed :D). And such a good atmosphere. I did contemplate a SC question but I think it was totally for Moon and that's good.

The girl next to me managed to grab a cloth badge. I filmed it :D That question about the Indie movies was awful! Sunshine is a fab movie :) I'm really glad you made it - I'm sorry that we didn't spot one another. Glad you got home ok.

Thanks Tui! - that Carpool was so interesting. I would love to know what some of the conversations Jake and Duncan had. I bet Jake found Duncan so cool. I would imagine his sets are a very creative and rewarding place to work. Fingers crossed that at sometime Jake becomes one of the actors who makes a film in NZ. I'm glad you liked the London pic - it was absolutely stunning.

Thanks so much Lemiscate! Loved the soundtrack too. It was interesting hearing how Duncan persuaded the composer (can't remember his name) to do it by overlaying an early version of the film with his old soundtracks.

Back to reality! Have a good day everyone!

Yay! I'm so glad you had a great time and that you got to meet him. :-) So in the end it did work out with the seats? ;-)
Sorry to read you're not feeling well today - I hope it gets better during the afternoon.

That autograph is super cute.

Hi Lady Ekster! The seats worked out well in the end :D Mad dash for the front and ended up sitting with some fabulous people. A great audience. I'm ok, just worn out! I have no stamina...

It really is, Winterbird! I said to Duncan it was so cool - he was sorry to be writing in my book upside down but I said it didn't matter as it's getting cut out and framed :D Yep, be a busy evening, sorting all that out.

Hope everyone's having a good day! It really feels like it should be Friday...

WDW, I'm so happy you got to meet Duncan! I loved loved loved Moon. I just saw it recently, and I thought it was amazing. I also love Sam Rockwell. I thought he was great in it.

I love Duncan's autograph! :D WDW, do you live in London? I'm sorry, I'm new to the blog. I absolutely LOVE London. It's my dream to live there for at least a year or two :)

I think we'll be hearing more of Duncan's name in the years to come. I won't be surprised if he gets some awards like the Baftas or Oscar.

I hope it's with Source Code. I am anxious to hear more about that movie and hear Duncan talk about working with Jake.

So are we going to get to see the Q&A session?

Thanks WDW. I am glad you got to see Jake's directors.

Hi Tiffany! I'm in the beautiful city of Oxford so close enough to enjoy London while also being able to escape it :)

Hey Sweetpea! I'm trying to upload the videos now. It's taking about 5 million hours for each video.

Eek! I don't want to post the 13th comment... but I must comment -so I'll put superstitions aside. ;-)

First, congrats to WDW for meeting Duncan Jones! I haven't seen Moon and I reckon it won't be easy to get a chance to see it here in Argentina. But what I read about it makes me want to see it quite badly. I'll try harder. Maybe the internet will help?

Second, I succumbed to the "Battle of the beards" link that's all over Twitter and I just read the beard IS actually for Jake's next movie role. Might not be, since it's not official yet. But, as someone who has -uhm- embraced the off time beard, I must say I'm a bit concerned. What if we don't get to see Jake's beautiful face without the facial hair for a long time? Crushing thought. But since it's still a long way until LAOD promotion starts, Jake might be done shooting his next project before November. Filming "Source Code" took less than two months, if I remember correctly...

Okay, off to do that research I mentioned earlier. Hope you're feeling better, Kate. Thank you for making this blog so interesting and enjoyable (the London pic does look like a perfect postcard). And to WDW readers, all the best as always. xo

Good evening to all of you!
"Moon" - seems to be interesting. In Poland it hits cinema on Friday, 3.09.
First I want to go to see "Inception" and then - "Moon".
With "Moon" I think I will "tune in" for a Source Code :) which I'm looking forward too.

Hi there Alejandra! Moon is certainly taking its time to travel around the earth. I hope you get to see it finally. The beard contest 'story' (as if there can be any comparison between Jake and The Pale One) is suggesting that the beard may be for Born to Run but that sounds very hazy to me. But yes! It might not be for Born to Run - it could be for something else - Rendition, LAOD and Source Code all happened very quickly and there's no reason to think that the next movie won't be as quick!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like the place - and my pictures :D That is so kind of you.

Hi there Mermon! So it's not out in POland yet? It is amazing how long it's taking. I hope you see it. It makes me want t see SC all the more - you can see the creativity and ingenuity that will go into it.

I did another post this evening as the Duncan videos are taking too long! Taken hours this evening but getting there!

Awesome WDW and Silver, you lucky people!

Living vicariously through you now, I meet zero famous people in my spare time...
