Dining with Jake Gyllenhaal - Has Sasquatch been shorn? - Behind the scenes on PoP

Jake Gyllenhaal continues to prove that the best way to succeed in becoming a good cook is to eat out a lot and not actually do any cooking. Yesterday Jake was seen out with Maggie and Peter and their mum, Naomi, at Sun In Bloom in Brooklyn. This is particularly good to hear because a) it's a vegan restaurant and b) it serves aphrodisiac rice. The same day Jake was seen at the Il Buco Italian restaurant in Bond Street, which, if it's anything like the Bond Street in London, means the plates will be made out of cashmere and the knives and forks out of crushed diamonds and the chairs out of Elgin's marbles.

Jake was spotted on Bond Street 'walking alone, being a true stud'. Several things to note here - a) Jake does indeed look like a true stud and b) where's the mention of the beard? Yes... in the most recent sightings of Jake there has been no mention of the Face Pet. Either it's gone or it's become extraordinarily sexy and noone notices it anymore.

If you look at yesterday's post you'll see mention of a stylist about to work on a photoshoot with Jake plus sightings of Jake with Love and Other Drugs co-star Anne Hathaway. Makes me wonder if Sasquatch has been taken to the barbers. Watch this space (not to mention the chin...)!

Updated: It looks like Jake was back in SunInBloom today: 'Thank you Jake Gyllenhaal for stopping by www.suninbloom.com this AM to grab your Sweet Lady Green juice & Brazilian nut mylk!' Another lucky person tweeted: 'OMG JUST WALKED PAST JAKE GYLLENHALL! He is beautiful. Omg omg omg.' Someone else: 'I sat across from Jake Gyllenhaal on the train today. He was wearing duck boots.' In other words, not a mention of the Face Pet!

PoP Bits

As we know, the Prince of Persia Blu-ray features some behind the scenes snippets. Not everyone has managed to see these and so it's great to see a couple more of them online this week. They have French subtitles but are not dubbed.

I'm a huge David Fincher fan, as many of you will know, and today I was lucky enough to see a preview of The Social Network. Here's my non-spoilery review.

Includes pictures from IHJ.

ROFLOLMAO @WDW about the comment "eating out to become a good chef" ...

He is so busy these days ... he sure seems to enjoy NYC.
I can't help but get angry with the "sighters" for not pointing the face bear or no-more-existing-face-bear out... dammit *rollswitheyes*

Thanks for the vids! :-D

I totally agree with Sasha on the cooking sentence. Sounds like a perfect dining motto to me. *big grin*

I really, really, really (have I said 'really' yet?) hope that The Bear has been killed for that mysterious photoshoot. I want some jawline, please! C'mon Jake, you can't have us rely on just the LAOD trailers, we need some fresh views on that perfect bone structure of yours.

Claire said...

please, please let the beard pet be gone!!! I don't mind a bit of sexy stubble but the full beard was too much.

Maybe the 'sighters' just don't notice the beard or lack there of as they are not as enarmoured with Jake like we are?

Thank you for the latest, WDW. We can only hope that the sasquatch beard has met its end. Maybe it could become a wall hanging. OR maybe it could be auctioned off on Ebay or something like that. OR be adopted by someone who wants a gyllenpet.

I wonder where Atticus is, we haven't heard any sightings of him and as far as I know if Jake is going to be away from Calif for any length of time he brings his best bud with him.

Thanks for the update

Hello everyone! Just updated the post with more sightings - and still no mention of the fur!

Hi Sasha! I couldn't resist it :D Jake seems to spend a huge amount of time out dining. Which I would too but I can't cook...

I've been asking people if he still has the beard or not - maybe one of them will reply to me!

My pleasure Lady Ekster! Yep, I think you mean really :D

Hi Claire! I'm kind of hoping someone would have mentioned it if it were there. They're saying how hot he is, what he's doing but not noticing a beard... hmmmm :D

Hi Sweetpea! That's a great idea about auctining it on eBay :) I would have thought that if Jake's away from home for a while, Atti will be there too :)

JEBUS ... really ... the NY-tweople must be blind ... I mean the face bear was all over the internet - how can s.o. not know about it ... and when everyone (magazines etc) seems it is noteworthy deem the face bear not noteworthy without permission ... ARGH ... Do we really need to make up a website to educate tweople about what is noteworthy and what is not so much???

Sasha said...

f.e. duck boots ... if that would have been Highheels it would have been noteworthy (more than the Face Bear) - but BOOTS??? HELLO-O-O-O???

Wet Dark and Wild said...

OMG that is so funny, Sasha, and you are RIGHT! Why would you mention boots and not an extraordinary bear on his face?!

Good evening everybody!
I have a question - Sweet Lady Green juice - Is it a green juice for Jake's sweet lady? Or is it a name of a juice?
I believe it's a second choice.

I can't imagine my life now without those little news about Jake - walking, eating, taking train - living like all of us. He seems so normal and close to me because of it. I feel happy again realising how good it is to know your blog WDW:)
I wonder if this Lady from Ballet night is just a friend or someone more important. He didn't take her for his family dinner.

Jake - a true stud - new word for me. That's great - with beard or not, even passing by on the street he can impress people.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Thanks so much, Mermon! I'm glad you're enjoying the place - and thanks for commenting on MB!

That's the name of a drink - sounds like one of these detoxifying things :)

As you all know, I'm a huge fan of David Fincher and I saw a preview of The Social Network today. Here's my non-spoilery review

I really want to see The Social Network. Thanks for the review. :)

Hahaha Sasha that is a great idea! NYC is busy tweeting about Jake tonight. One after the other and not one mention of any facial hair...
This must be phase 3 of the Era of the Bear. First we knew it was there, then we finally saw it, and now that the shockwave has passed we have no idea whether it's still alive or not (meanwhile I'm trying to picture Jake's face should he ever visit WDW and read our face fuzz comments... ;-))

Wet Dark and Wild said...

My pleasure, Lady Ekster!

I imagine Jake going... 'Oh if on;y I'd known, I'd never have grown it in the first place - forgive me!' And then he'd give us all hugs for the trauma he's caused...

Too bad he didn't shave><

From twitter:

Addie Provost: my morning was better than yours because I sat across from Jake Gyllenhaal on the train....and we made eye contact. (he wants me)

Devin Creeden: was he shaven? (face, dont be dirty)

Addie Provost: he was not. he was rocking the full beard.

(from 11 hours ago)

Sasha said...

@Hui I can't find that tweeting :(

Thanks of for liking my comment/idea WDW and Lady Ekster. And the more comments we get without a note of the Face Bear the more I'm off to make a blog about it...... calling it "What to note and what not? - How do make your clebrity (Jake) sightings educational"

Good morning everyone! Back and work and I have another cold! Harrrummppf.

Hi Gyllenhaalisgr8! I'll check that out when I'm home tonight :D

Hi Hui! One of the people replied to my tweet last night and said he had a 'hipster beard'! So yes, still there, but maybe it's better groomed :D

Morning Sasha! Looks like we're now getting follow up reports on the beard. Oh well, looks like he owes us lots of hugs now to ease the pain!

Have a good day everyone :D

Hello everyone, hope the start of the week is going well for all of you. WDW, I hope that nasty cold will be gone soon! :(

Just stopping by to say I had a long and good laugh at gyllenhaalisgr8's new picture. I'm afraid (or delighted in a way) that our shave intervention is still very much needed. We need to hatch a plan ladies!! My word today is 'gleducte', makes me think of an important ingredient in our shave kit: duct tape. *grin*

It's not unusual for Jake to be away from making a movie for 6 months.
He won't have the beard forever. Maybe it is for a movie, maybe it is because he just wants to have one but it will eventually go.

I am truly loving all the NYC sightings!!! I was on the Lower East Side and unfortunately did not have a Gyllen-sighting myself...sigh. Sounds like he is out and about, enjoying his foodie-ness, etc. :)

Ah, the Beard lives on...I wonder how that will work with LAOD promotion?

Sorry you aren't feeling well, WDW. :( Your posts are always wonderful and I am glad you got to see the Social Network. I thought it was excellent.

Have a great day everyone! Hope we get more sightings and hopefully some pics!

having another busy weekend, good to be back at Gyllendom..
Hi WDW, that comment of yours, the first line of the post, is really funny.. I was wondering why Jake has never want to show his real cooking skill in front of camera? Remember the Ellen show and Jonathan Ross (though it's impossible to cook within less than 5 minutes)? I would love to see him cook..
Ooohhh..let's cross our fingers, hope the Holy Beard really has gone! And I hope we can soon see the photoshot mention in the previous post..:D
Thanks for the wonderful pics and vids WDW, the PoP behind the scenes is amazing, thanks for sharing the Blu-ray special feature.
Thanks for the posts WDW!!!

Reading between the lines, I've often gotten the sense that Jake informally "tries out" for roles that he would like to have in the future. This would explain his intensive bicycle-riding back in the days when it seemed possible that he could portray Lance Armstrong in a biopic. During another period, he seemed to be engaged in a bewildering array of athletic sports, the apparent result of which was that he seemed to qualify as athletic enough for "Prince of Persia." Right now I am thinking that he doesn't actually have a role lined up, but wants to be taken seriously as someone who has a beard. Maybe such a role won't materialize right away, but some writer or producer or director will notice his wonderful beard and remember it when the time comes to cast someone for the part. If Jake shaves it before it gets noticed by enough people, it will have been a futile exercise--unless Jake just enjoys having a beard for its own sake. I have trouble believing that there are very many men who like to have beards. If there are, I'm not one of them.

Here's a little visual aid for all of the rookie gyllenhaalics who don't know the difference between "scruff" and "God Almighty, shave that thing":

I'm going out on a hairy limb here and say that I think Jake will rock that bad boy all the way to the L&OD premiere!

Hello!
I know that some men complain they have to shave everyday. And the beard is a rest from shaving. I can understand that. And right now I'm so used to Jake's beard that I don't think about it anymore. I just can't wait till promotion time will begin.

Last night I was watching Proof again on Polish TV. Oh, how I like that movie and Jake in it. He's so tasty and young in this movie. And he has such a good influence on Catherine - Gwyneth. He makes her believe in herself, he sees her stronger then she thinks she is. I was comparing his running with Robert Pattinson running. He runs like a handsome sportsman and Robert runs in very funny way, like a girl.
I discovered why I wait so impatiently for LAOD. So far we have only one movie where Jake is in longtime relationship. Where we can see him kissing, making love, missing, holding, being together for a long time. It's Brokeback Mountain. That's why is so touching to me (not only because of that). He just shows love in such a beautiful way.
In other films he's searching a girl or fight with her, slowly falling in love, or loves a woman not right to him, etc. In BBM we have love during the whole movie.
And in LAOD it seems we will have nice relationship, full of kissing, touching, love and laughing and some tears like in BBM - also by most of the time.
I just like Jake falling in love or loving.

gyllenhaalisgr8 - I like "nicely controlled scruff" and "losing control" on Jake :)

Hello everyone! Sorry for the absence - busy and not well - not a good combination! Really good to see you all, you've been making me laugh with your comments :D

Hi TD!

Love the idea of a Shave Intervention, Lady Ekster :D The United Nations should demand it.

We know that, 13:23, but we're trying to speed up the process...

Thanks so much, Get Real! Maybe you'll need to take on NYC in a kind of a spiders web grid fashion :D

Thanks, Serene Hill! I love those cooking clips with Jake and I'd love to see him over here on Celebrity Masterchef :D

I totally agree with you, Paul, that Jake 'tries out' these possible roles :) There have been so many examples of that. I still find it hard to think such a full head of hair and beard isn't connected to a role in some way, especially as it's still there through onstage Q&As and photoshoots and - deep breaths - through LAOD publicity. And beards do become troublesome, I'm sure after a while. Mr WDW has one and if it gets too long he gets very crotchety.

Love that, Gyllenhaalisgr8! And I'm inclined to believe you could be right!

I can't wait either, Mermon :D And much as I don't like Proof, I do love the running scenes in it - I love to watch Jake run - he's speedy. I love that LAOD is about a relationship too :)

*feminist mode on*
Men have to shave after a while. Period. I couldn't care less about their shave routine moaning. Watch what happens if women leave their legs and armpits alone... see what I mean?
*feminist mode off, normal mode on*

Oh my Lord, gyllenhaalisgr8 you're on a roll! :-D But please, don't deliver me nightmares by saying The Bear might attend the LAOD premiere. I don't consider myself a shallow person but that would totally ruin the fun for me.

gyllenhaalisgr8 said...

Lady...if he hasn't lost it by now, and even seems to be grooming it like a good little pet owner, what's a few more weeks with it? I'm afraid we're doomed!
