Jake Gyllenhaal, Gwyneth Paltrow, Yogi Bear, Alotta Fagina, Fruit, Baseball, Stuff

When Jake Gyllenhaal presented Gwyneth Paltrow with her Elle Hollywood Women tribute award the other week he commented that her role in Ironman 2 as Pepper Potts is the 'best character with the stupidest name' since Yogi Bear and Alotta Fagina. I have to agree, Yogi is a ridiculous name for a bear. Thanks to Mermon for the heads up!

I appreciate Gwyneth's hand motions as she describes the hilarious and gorgeous Jake Gyllenhaal.

Love and Other Drugs heats up

It looks like the publicity for Love and Other Drugs is heating up. In addition to this week's press screenings, next week the press conferences begin. Thanks to Monica for the link.

Stand up to Cancer

This is about US sports so over to the experts: 'As millions of baseball fans tune in to watch the American League’s Texas Rangers and National League’s San Francisco Giants compete in the first game of the World Series on Wednesday, October 27th on FOX, MLB will once again bring the fight against cancer to the forefront and help raise funds for groundbreaking “translational” research designed to bring new therapies to patients quickly and save lives. During the seventh-inning stretch of Game One of the World Series, a moving PSA featuring Academy Award nominated actor, Jake Gyllenhaal will play on the jumbo screens for the crowd, as well as for millions at home watching FOX. Fans in the stadium will then be asked to stand in unison as sportscaster Joe Buck rallies the crowd — and the viewing audience — via an on-air call-to-action to “launch stars” in tribute to those diagnosed with cancer.'

And finally...

There are reports that Jake Gyllenhaal's fruit thing is not diminishing. This weekend, there are reports that Jake and Taylor headed to the woods for a bushel of apples. Is this a good time to point out that there's a veritable cornucopia of autumnal fruit around here, ripe for the picking?

Thanks to IHJ for keeping an eye on Jake and his apples.

Hey WDW nice Job as always!
I Love to see how LAOD is getting more and more attention :)
no comments about Taylor and the apples...
(for me it's just publicity, and that's all) :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves apples. And this IS prime apple picking season. I think it's nice he and Taylor are hanging out. I'm not going to say anything more about it here.

WDW, do we have a talk show schedule for LAOD yet? I usually try to tape all of Jake's interviews. I hope Ellen is on the list. If he is going to be sticking around NY then Letterman and perhaps Jon Stewart are on the list and Jimmy Fallon (I hope he goes on Jimmy, it was a riot the last time he was on. Dancing in yellow in the audience)

Thanks Linda! It's so great about LAOD - just watch it build!

Hi Sweetpea :D There are so many apples and pears around me, I worry I'm going to get hit by one just walking down the street!

No schedule yet - but as soon as I see one, it'll be posted here as normal :D Jimmy Fallon would be great again!

Those apple pics do things to my mind! Seriously, I looove them. :-)

And I couldn't check the vids yet but... from the screencap, yes: I'd say Gwyneth's hand gestures are about right. He makes most of us feel like grabbing him. Am I correct? ;-)

Me too, Alejandra! And there's something about Gwyneth's hands in those pics. Her brain is definitely walking a different path to her words!

Hi!
Lovely post:) I like an apple tread in it. I found connection with Jake and my country. Jake likes apples and apples are "national" Polish fruits:)
You are very welcome here Jake, we have a lot of apple's orchards in Poland and plenty of markets full of fresh fruits and vegetables.
It was nice to see Goldie Hawn, I always liked her. First time I've notice such a big similarity between her and Kate Hudson, they are so much alike. And Diane Keaton - lovely lady, I like her and her movies.
Good to see Jake and Gwyneth - live. I liked them in "Proof" together and here as well. She's also a kind of a lady, but modern, using ugly words:)
Pronunciation of Alotta Fagina in Jake's mouth - hahahaha.
I'm looking forward to see new events with Jake - on the stadium and press conference.

Oeh I love apples! Come over to Holland Jake, I'll bake you an excellent Hot Apple Crumble with as much apples as you like. :-D But 'Swiftyhaal'? Excuse me while I throw up. I'll say no more.

Love the Dastan pictures and the very welcome news about the press conferences. Exciting! I wonder if this time, in the spirit of PoP, we'll get to see another Son from the Future. *big grin*

Hi mermon! I didn't know apples were the national fruit of Poland! We have a lot here too - the tree outside my office is almost toppling over with the weight of them.

Loved to see Goldie Hawn there - I've enjoyed her films for years.

Hey Lady Ekster! Ooh, sounds good! I hope we get so much publicity this month - be hard pressed to beat the son of Dastan and Tamina though :)

If i can mention her..she was on the Letterman Show last night and mentioned she loved Fall and enjoyed taking walks.

I don't think it's unreasonable to discuss the "face pet" here, as Jake has often grown longer hair or shorter hair (or no hair) for his movie roles. He had a beard in "Prince of Persia." Therefore, there was always a question of whether Jake was growing this particular beard for a movie role, or just for the heck of it. :-)

Gosh, I would love to see Jake and Taylor Swift in a movie together. There was a nice article about Taylor in last Sunday's "Parade" magazine, and I think she was born to be on the big screen. Why not with Jake?

Apple trees? There are apple trees on my street, and some of them are loaded with apples now.

I'm not able to check out the clips now but will definitely do so when I get home. I love Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton. Gwyneths hands are being very expressive in that clip:).

Can't wait to find out the interview schedule for Jake and Anne aswell. I so hope we see him on Ellen this time. I'd like to see him on Jimmy Kimmel aswell. But overall I don't mind what shows he appears on as long as we see him!!

For the UK publicity if there is any I wonder if Jake or Anne might appear on something like Graham Norton. I'm not sure if they would as it is around the Christmas holidays and TV goes kind of crazy at that time of year.

Only thing I'll say about the apples is I live near an orchard that is ripe for picking so......

Taylor did a CSI and also in a movie with a lot of people. She looked like she knew what she was doing.

November hits and so will LAOD. Hope he does Ellen too. Rem. his birthday call to her asking her to go out with him. Funny.

I love Austin Powers movies. They're great, except the third.

My forum is "down". Some people have lost a little respect for Jake. That has not happened with Reese. I think people do not like this girl. I don't like her.

Well, I will concentrate on his films. This is most important.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Morning everyone! Is it Friday yet?

Er 23:40... that's fascinating.... I think it would be more polite to give 'her' her name.

Thanks Paul! And I agree - it kept us amused for weeks - I almost miss it :D I'm afaid to say that I had hardly even heard of Taylor before this week! She's not well known in the UK.

Hi there Carol! Ooh I love Diane Keaton :) I'm sure there'll be something over here over the next couple of months.

Hi 1:44! I do remember that - it was great!

Hey Monica! I've just seen the first AP movie. I don't want to generalise but IMO Reese divided the fandom. I can't see that happening now. Let's hope not anyway :)

Have a great day everyone!

Losing respect for Jake because he was seen with Taylor.
That's sad.

Monica said...

I don't like her and I'm not happy about it, but as I said, I'm focused on Love and Other Drugs, but in relation to other Brazilian fans, things are worse. I've never seen so much negativity.
In her forum, the fans are loving the news. For them, Jake is a good person and the Prince of Persia. hahaha

....

Happy Birthday Matilda Ledger!

Then I'd guess that Taylor's forum is a much Kinder place.
Doesn't look like they're close to marriage or anything like that. They've just spent some time together.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi 14:11 - it most certainly is and, well, it does seem a little drastic!

Hey Monica :D I'm surprised there should be so much negativity for something that doesn't seem to matter too much. But if Taylor's fans are calling Jake a good person then good for them :D I'd like to think that we his fans think he's a pretty good person too!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I totally agree 14:57!

Hui said...

I don't know anything about Taylor Swift....(I know movies way more than songs...)
Of course I am sad(coz Jake isn't with me : p)
But I am more concerned about LAOD atm and I really want to know Jake's new project. He is such a good actor. He should work more:)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Hui! I'm really hoping that news of Jake's next project will be revealed during the LAOD publicity. I wouldn't be surprised. Jake usually gets back to work around this time.

I was hoping Jake would host SNL to promote LAOD but Anne will be hosting November 20th. That's too bad, Jake did such a good job when he was on SNL. I wonder how they'll split the promo between Jake and Anne. Is Anne working on anything at the moment? Jake is not so he'll be easily available.

Hi WDW, nice vid and pics, I love Dastan and the apple pics..
I was missing Jake episode on Hollywood One on One(HBO) tonight, my cousin told me it was Jake with Annie, I think it was for LAOD, damn... Make a note not to forget to watch it tomorrow, hope I could make it on time..
Thanks for the posts WDW!!

If Jake is still in New York when Anne does SNL maybe he'd do one of those surprise guest moments.
As he was just backstage at SNL last week and has done the show (this is the 2nd for Anne) would imagine sometime he will do another one.

Jake & Anne were both wonderful hosting SNL. Sadly, her episode was much better written than Jake's. Here is Jake's opening monologue and song & dance number on SNL:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYCj3hnzKyc

Hathaway did an incredible Mary Poppins' interpretation- the British accent, singing, and dancing for SNL. Hear it is :

http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/mary-poppins/727503/

After seeing both scenes, I agree with Ed Zwick about putting these two in a movie musical. Also, Jake may surprise the SNL audience and guess on a couple of segments with Anne on this Nov. 20th episode. It would be a great promotional opportunity for LAOD.

Here's an even better clip of Jake's SNL tribute to Dream Girls:

Watching this clip can cheer me up no matter how badly my day is going.

Hello everyone! Just got back from seeing the sneak peak of Tron and having dinner with Rubes and Mr Rubes - much fun if a little weird...

Thanks so much for the SNL links, Jen and Susan. That's great about Anne being on SNL (although I'm not sure I can see it here). And thanks for that review link Jen!

Helen Olympia, Serene Hill and KC as well!

Show business has an ugly dark side. If you haven't been in it for very long, you might find yourself thrown for a loop, especially if you get ambushed by a detractor at an awards ceremony.
It doesn't surprise me that so many entertainers turn to drugs or alcohol for relief from what can be overwhelming pain. That is why I feel so good about all the pictures in which Jake is being a kind, supportive friend. He carries Reese's children on his shoulders. He picks apples with a young singer who has had some nasty things to deal with. He's seen playing basketball with a little kid in a park in New York. I just don't see a downside to being a kind friend.
