It's not all Love and Other Drugs this week, I'm delighted to say that a synopsis for Source Code has been released to go along with the picture of Jake Gyllenhaal as Colter, strapped into a seat wearing a military flight suit. I'm not posting it all here as there are what some may consider spoilers but you can read it here. It is fascinating to hear more about the emotional background of the plot as well as learn about some of the other characters in the film.
The interviews continue today for Love and Other Drugs. After tweets yesterday that Anne Hathaway had a mock fight with journalists in the press conference creating quite a scary moment, today we hear from an interviewer that it was one of his favourite interviews ever, that Jake and Anne shared an emotional moment and Anne actually cried.
TV Spots for Love and Other Drugs have been proliferating across the American networks. Fortunately, one of these has reached YouTube and it includes brief moments of scenes that aren't in the trailer. There is also another clip of Jake and Anne being interviewed on the AFI red carpet.
Josh Gad, who plays Jake's brother in the film, has been talking about the shock (that's one way to put it) of working on a set with naked people: '"I was like, 'wow!... It was very interesting. You don't expect when you sign on to any job that your first day on set is going to be one of Anne Hathaway taking off all her clothes and saying, 'Here I am!'... I was nervous, and I just showed my ass. I can only imagine what she's dealing with... But she was just unbelievable about it all."'
'"I'm naked a lot," laughed Jake. "But particularly her. For a woman it can be...yeah, scary." "They are brilliant and serious actors," director Edward Zwick added about Anne and Jake's way of dealing with all their sex scenes. "At the end of the day they want it to be truthful and real. That commitment outweighs any hesitation or squeamishness. It's natural to be nervous and anxious to be naked in front of people... When it's the service of the story and you're a real artist as they are, it's what you do."'
I think the last word here should belong to Anne: '“Jake Gyllenhaal is such a charismatic person,... that if you’ve known him for one day, you’ve known him for 10 years. You would be most likely getting the same person. It was just a pleasure.”'
Born to Run
Today the New York Marathon took place and, rather appropriately, we've been hearing some more about Born to Run and, interestingly, the talk has been focusing on Peter Sarsgaard. One site revealed that Peter, in order to get thin for the role, had taken to jogging during the filming of the Green Lantern. 'Producer Donald De Line told us, “Peter is very physical as an actor. He gets completely immersed in the role. He got very thin for this. He likes to go jogging, in those barefoot shoes, even in the New Orleans heat. They had to persuade him not to jog as much as he was getting too thin."' Note the Born to Run barefoot shoes. Here is the picture from Leadville again - source.
On 5 November there was a Born to Run event or cabaret in NYC and Peter was amongst the speakers. You can read a full account of the event here. I asked the writer about what Peter had said and he told me that Peter had said that he discovered the book while on the set of Green Lantern and had gone to Leadville 'but decided not to run since it sounded too crazy'. Having read about the length of the recovery time, Peter may have been wise!
There is another full account of the evening here and it ends by saying: 'The last panelist for the evening was actor Peter Sarsgaard. On a recent trip to Mumbai, India, Sarsgaard was influenced by the Jainist movement, which eschews all footwear for fear of killing anything living. While on the set for “The Green Lantern”, the actor read McDougall’s book and was immediately influenced to try out barefoot running. “I’ve realized that by living in New York City, all I’ve been doing is window shopping,” he said. “There was something missing in my life. And after I took up running, I’ve realized that I’ve been made better because of it.”'
One has to wonder if all of the talk linking Jake to the possible film project may have focused on the wrong actor and the wrong brother-in-law. The picture above is my own picture of Peter from TIFF 2007.
Includes pictures from links and IHJ, Love and Other Drugs and WDW.

Hello! I hope everyone had a good Sunday :) Back to the grindstone...
After so much in the last couple of days we must all be kind of exhausted. I need to go through most of it again. :-)
AND considering I have no fear of spoilers, I'll check the link to read more about Source Code. You tempted me with "emotional", WDW. ;-)
Lovely to hear about Peter's inspirational running too. A great family, they all are. xo
Thanks WDW,
I see you found another website for the Source Code synopsis than the one I sent to you earlier

Hi Alejandra! I've felt quite worn out today - it's all been so exciting and just amazing. So much going on and trying to grab hold of it all. I didn't find it too spoilery either. I like to find out about the story and feel and this gave just the right amount away. I have been really fascinated by the Peter Born to Run connection. I wonder if Peter was the one who led Jake to Leadville!
Sweetpea, I posted the best link I saw this morning, long before you emailed me. This has been all over the net today.
Night all :)
ah okay. I just figured I'd be an extra set of eyes in case something came up that you might not have spotted

Hello WDW and everybody
Oh all this Jake coverage is so addictive. And isn't he looking good. That new trailer - or TV clip - has just another interesting angle on LAOD.
Wow WDW you got up close and personal with Peter at TIFF. Good to see the photo.
You know it is really satisfying being a Jake fan. Thanks so much for the great blog WDW and comments everyone.
Cheers
Tui
Morning all! Monday and what a revolting day out there - ugh...
Thank, Sweetpea.
Hi there Tui! It really is great stuff - I love all the little things like the TV spot as those are things we normally wouldn't see. And the Peter stuff is just fascinating. Thank you so much!
Have a good day everyone :)
Wow~~~~There are six cilp of LAOD

What flood of pics and clips! Bad days I've chosen to go out, add this vid update:

I want to point one thing, but not if I explain well. After several weeks, browsing web of reviews (several more or less positive for L&OD) no expect good reviews, the critics love to find fault, tear apart a movie, especially comedies (example Due Date)
Hui ... Wonderful, wonderful more than wonderful clips, thank you very much. No matter to me know too much about the plot
So it's probably Peter who is attached to Born To Run? That's interesting!
How spoilery is the SC synopsis? I want to read it but I'm not a fan of spoilers - do you have any idea how hard it is to stay away from all the LAOD clips?! *grin*
The SC premiere date for Holland got pushed back from early February to April 30, by the way. Meh. Big Meh.
Here is a great interview w/ Jake and Anne. They are so damn charming.

karmentxu , I agree with you . Critics are ridiculously picky ! In most cases, critics support films I loathe with a passion.
WDW , I love your movie reviews because you realize not are films are a work of art- their are movies that are just meant to be entertaining, charming, and a joy to watch, For some reason , most critics don't realize this.
Here is a video behind the scenes of LAOD:

I thought this was an interesting sit down with Jake and Anne. I never thought about trying to describe something before a match burned down, before

Hi!
Thank you WDW for that post. I like SC story, it seems very interesting and mysterious. I love that picture of Jake from that movie.
About Born to run. Hm, I am actually happy that Peter participates in that movie. I was not big fan of the idea of seeing Jake in it, like most of you did. But it was nice of him to accompany his brother in law in Leadville :)
Thank you girls for posting all those links to Anne and Jakes interviews. They are so cool.
Thank you Hui for the LAOD clips, I couldn't resist. I had to watch them.
One more fine, sympathetic interview with Jake.

He looks just great in it.
One of the nicest interviews. Some touching between Anne and Jake, very funny.

On the same site two other clips from that interview.
Hello everyone! Another busy day - great to get home and see all of the clips - just love them :D
Thanks very much for the help with the links :)
Hey Lady Ekster, the SC synopsis is a little spoilery as it gives away something of what Jake's character has to deal with, but it doesn't talk about how he manages. It's worth reading I think :)
Waves to Hui, Karmentxu, Mermon, Jen and Sweetpea :)
