Variety screens Love and Other Drugs and how an audience gives back to the director

Last night, it was the turn of Love and Other Drugs to feature in the Variety Screening Series Let us hope this is one of the series that is later made available for all of us to watch.

Jake has been talking elsewhere a little more about the mass nudity on set: '“Ed did get naked with us for one shot,” he says. “It terrified me and he was so eager to do it too. I just wish we were shooting some kind of horror film. We could use that as a close up!”'

With thanks to BBMISwear, here is a spread from Hollywood Reporter for 17 November, which takes a look at the screening at the AFI Fest. There is a great quote from Ed Zwick: 'The more you work on a movie, the less it becomes yours. But you see it with an audience, and they give it back to you.'

And finally

Jake and Ed have been interviewed by Newsweek. You can watch that here or below.

Thanks to IHJ and BBMISwear.

Morning all! Was greeted first thing this morning with the news of Prince William's engagement to Kate Middleton. (WDW, please pass along my congratulations to the happy couple.) I must say, though, it is much more pleasant to check in here and get the latest Jake gorgeousness - then I'm ready to start the day properly.

Hi Eureka! ooh, me too! I have a poster just like that under my bed - unfortunately not with Jake attached. Hope you feel better very soon x

It really is, Gyllenhaalisgr8! It was the thing I noticed most last week, looking at him from just a few feet away - Jake's face is so beautiful when relaxed and listening to others talk.

Morning Susan! Next time I see 'em I'll pass that along :D All of Britain wants to know if we'll get a day off... There is no better way to start the day than with some lovely Jake and he is doing a perfect job today!

It's still so foggy here today. It's not nice...

And Happy Birthday Maggie!!

How could I forget...?

Rain has followed Jake to NYC, apparently ;)

Should I venture to Sun In Bloom, I checked the menu, I don't think I can be Jake's vegan costar any time soon.

Well... At least waiting for a royal wedding for a day off is more realistic than waiting for that old (insert your choice of word) to...

I see the press train is still full steam ahead. I saw Anne on Regis and Kelly this morning. great interview.

and I see they are doing more press. I liked the Newsweek interview. Jake seems so much more focussed and serious during this press junket than others he has done. Less goofy (I mean that in a good way)

Happy Birthday to Maggie!

Newsweek! Wow, that's a big deal. Very cool, and I like the interview with Ed and Jake. :) Ed, you have just reached Star Status with that musical comment. We want!!

I enjoyed Jake's comment on the script reading. He has said before how important his first reaction to scripts is in deciding whether or not to do a movie, and this feels like a little glimpse inside that process. :)

Happy birthday Maggie! Wishing you a wonderful new year. :)

Once again I am adoring all these interviews!!! :D Jake, Anne and Ed are such a delight to watch and this promotion has been a delight to see them doing all together.

And I of course have to squee seeing Jake back in NYC!

Bring on all the talk shows this week!! :D

Happy birthday, Maggie!

Hi there Winterbird! Unfortunately, Jake has left us with thick fog instead :(

It is a very different interview, Sweetpea. I do like it :)

Hey Lady Ekster! There are some great comments. It's hard to get enough of these interviews.

Hi Get Real! Yep, it's time for the talk shows *crosses fingers and hopes for some decent questions - looking at you Letterman!* I don't have high hopes for Regis!

Hmmm there seems to be a theme to this evening's TV...

Seems like promoting LAOD is even more work than promoting PoP. All those Q&A's! Jake and Anne and the director are doing a great job and I hope LAOD will bring them many reasons to celebrate when it's released everywhere.

Yes, congrats to Prince William and Kate!! It has been big news here too. We all watched Charles and Diana back in the day.\

Winterbird, Jake has come with our blah weather. :/ Hope it gets better.

What a day!!!

Congrats to Prince William and Kate. Watched their interview on the news at ten. They looked really happy and comfortable together:)

Happy birthday to Maggie too:)

Jake looks great and the LAOD promotion is far more than I originally thought there would be. Not that I'm complaining or anything:) Looking forward to seeing Jake on Letterman.

Congrats to William and Kate! I think they're a lovely couple.

Good morning everyone!

Big hugs this morning to a fellow Gyllenhaalic whom I met because of Jake and here who last night treated me to the most wonderful evening that I will remember for a long, long time xx

But everyone has got to post very quiet comments today because my head is mush.

Ooh more Q&As :D I have a lot to catch up on in the post later!

I like Ryan Reynolds. He was in "Life during wartime" with Clea Duvall, who was in "Zodiac" with Jake. (I cheated in order to find this link. I consulted the Oracles of Bacon. http://oracleofbacon.org/cgi-bin/movielinks)

Last night I saw "Unstoppable," with Chris Pine and Denzell Washington. It's very exciting, though mislabelled. If the train really *was* unstoppable, it would have crashed and taken out a city of 750,000 people, which obviously didn't happen in real life. And it would never happen in a movie, because viewers would demand their money back. Ethan Suplee, who plays Dewey, was in "Brothers" with Jake. (I didn't have to use the O of B for that link...)

Speaking of Chris Pine, do we know when/what the next Star Trek feature will be? I used to think it would be impossible to "reboot" the franchise with other actors in the classic Trek roles, but I really like the new guys. Just goes to show that anything is possible with the passage of enough time... and time travel...

Ryan Reynolds?!
Yes he was cool in Wolverine, yes he was cute and funny in The Proposal, but come on, Jake is waaaay hotter! Just look at that picture they posted of him. *drool*
I agreed with People Magazine last year, but this year... tsk.

Hello Hui! I like Ryan Reynolds but he is not as sexy as Jake and I am adamant on that...

Hey Paul! I can't wait to see Unstoppable - out here in a week. I really really like Chris Pine.

Hi Susan! I can't wait for it too. I think it's not going to be for at least a couple of years unfortunately. Give me a Star Trek movie over a Potter film any day.

Hey Lady Ekster! That is a gorgeous picture - it makes the results of their poll even more nonsensical!

New post :)
