Duncan Jones: Jake Gyllenhaal is 'almost like an Indiana Jones' in Source Code and O'Russell has blocked out Nailed

Last week we saw the new still from Source Code, now we get some information to go with it, thanks to Entertainment Weekly. There is this from director Duncan Jones: 'I am a big fan of Christopher Nolan's and would love to be put in the same category as him someday.' And, despite the train-exploding-theme of Source Code, 'The tone of the film is quite light... We get to see Jake play an action-man leading role but still have that little sense of humour to him - almost like an Indiana Jones'. Thanks to BBMISwear for sending over the scan.

Another of Jake Gyllenhaal's directors, David O'Russell, has been talking a little about Nailed in a new interview about 'Fighter', and it sounds like Russell has had it with the film, 'I have had the memory erasure procedure done at Cedars Sinai. I don't know what you're talking about. [Seriously] It was kind of like a Madoffish experience. Wait -- don't say that. The financing was very weird. Basically, I moved on. You've got to keep creating and writing. It just gets in your rearview mirror and you lose your juju for it.'

Jake Gyllenhaal is all over the Mail On Sundday's Live magazine today with the interview that you can read in the previous post or here. The pages are too large to scan but I thought it was worth a couple of photos.

And finally...

Anne Hathaway is in Oslo for the Nobel Peace Prize celebrations along with Denzel Washington. More details at Just Jared.

what a shame about "Nailed" all the hard work that goes into making a movie and it was like it was for nothing. Not to even get a chance to see the light of day.

I'm very excited to hear from Duncan Jones. I can't wait for the interviews to begin. I'm glad Jake worked with him, I bet it was an enjoyable experience for both. The movie already has me excited to see it. I love trains and action, suspence type movies. It's also nice to see Jake puts in some humor to lighten the tense moments.

Anne certainly is a regular jet setter, first OZ now Oslo. I wonder if she gets jetlag?

thanks WDW

Hi Sweetpea :) I have hope for a DVD but it won't have much to do with Russell. Sounds like he has a good attitude.

Source Code sounds simply wonderful and I can't wait to hear more from Duncan.

Thanks for the scans, WDW and BBMISwear. 'The darling of Hollywood', I like that. :)

With every new detail we get about Source Code I'm getting more and more excited. :) It's kind of fun that there still is so much mystery surrounding it. It seems to fit the story itself. And I almost have to believe Jake and Indiana Jones' fates are intertwined, aren't they? *grin*

Such a shame about Nailed though. :(

Hi!
Thank you for post WDW.
Anne on the pictures from Oslo looks astonishing. Nobel prize and Oscar co hosting. Wow! It's really her time now. I wonder if LAOD has something to do with it or it's just this kind of time in her life. Congratulation to her.

Those Duncan Jones words about SC and Jake sounds very promising. Indiana Jones and Inception in one - great!
Good thing for me is, that in February I will have LAOD in cinemas and probably in the same time SC promotion will start. So all at once. I don't know how I survive all that excitement :)

It was interesting to read comparisons of our cinema ticket's prizes from all over the world. Thank you for that discussion.

Hi Lady Ekster! Inception crossed with Indiana Jones sounds like just what I want to see :D Hope it's stopped snowing where you are...

That's good news, Monica!

These are good days for Anne, Mermon :) I'm really happy for her and I'll be following what she gets up to. That sounds great for February :)

"Indiana Jones meets Inception" LOVE IT! I'm anxious for the SC promotions to get cranked up - more interviews! more photos! With movie prices so high everywhere these days, I don't mind that the stars have to work hard to spread the word about their latest film. :)

Hi Susan! It's all the more important for the stars to pull us into the cinema, with endless interviews, photoshoots, red carpet appearances, magazine covers and TV interviews - please Jake :D

Thanks for the link, Mermon!

Have a good day everyone. It might be Monday but I'm glad to say it has Love and Other Drugs in it :D

Okay, my first thought was that Anne had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Maybe there was an undercurrent in "Love and other Drugs" that promoted an end to war? Could it be that keeping men hopped up on Viagra erased all aspirations to become soldiers from their minds? One can only hope. Then I read the fine print. Hosting a concert is a great thing, and I bet she was great!

"Love and other Drugs" continues to climb toward the $30 million mark. People just aren't thronging to the movie theaters lately. "Dawn Treader" only got half of what it was expected to, Harry Potter is fading fast, and "The Tourist" failed to capitalize on star power. Fox hasn't had a movie crack the hundred million barrier since last year's "Avatar." It's not good. Plus, a massive blizzard was pummelling the Midwest this weekend. The snow even caved in the roof of the Metrodome in Chicago. People just had bigger things to worry about than movies!

Hello everyone! Had a wonderful time seeing LAOD with Rubes tonight and celebrating Mr Ruby's birthday. This film filled me with the joy of Jake. Too late to do my post so I'll save it for tomorrow - lots to say :) Night!

Jack Gyllenhaal also reflets on these things!
Why Hollywood don't make beautiful romantic films?
I always wonder why Hollywood doesn't also use books and themes dawn from literature.
Why the filmmakers don't make a movie about Greek mythology correctly?
Or make a movie about the life of a scientist like Nikola Tesla for instance...
There are many interesting topics!
What is happenning to this film industry?
People are giving up on thinking?
