An exclusive WDW report from the Golden Globes red carpet - and Jake Gyllenhaal and friends

It was wonderful to see Jake Gyllenhaal on the Golden Globes red carpet this weekend and what makes it even more special is knowing that Jake shared it with my very dear friend Lisa (aka BBMISwear) who was working there this year. Hard day at the office, I'm sure you'll agree. In this photo, try and move your eyes from Jake. To his right is none other than Lisa.

In these caps, from the AP Livestream (check it out from about 15:50 onwards) you see Lisa in the background and then Jake appears. You can see him on the right in the second photo.

At this point, let's cut to Lisa's words, interspersed with Lisa's own pictures of a very gorgeous Jake Gyllenhaal shining on the golden red carpet. This picture below is particularly special - it's when Jake spots Lisa.

'While in route to find someone at the beginning of the carpet I was walking against the flow of the celebs walking down the carpet as they arrived and saw Natalie Portman right in front of me - I stopped in my tracks as she was simply beautiful and glowing. Just as I said that to a co-worker to my right I then looked up and who was coming up the carpet toward us? Jake! Amazing! He was talking to everyone and walking with his publicist Carrie and his regular bodyguard pal and was just breathtaking to see coming toward me.'

'I followed along Jake's route and watched him during the many photos taken, interviews conducted, etc. And then the most unexpected thing happened...as he stood in front of the bleacher seats with fans yelling to him and asking for autographs he was in conversation with Carrie and another PR person (it looked like they were planning what further press stops he'd make as they continued) he was now standing right in front of me not going anywhere quite yet so I took my chance at saying Hi (not an easy thing to do on this carpet with them all moving along as quickly as they can).'

'I leaned in so he could hear me and said "Hey Jake!" and then this is the incredibly unexpected part - he looked right at me and said "Hey! How are You?" as he put out his arm and pulled me into a hug! So I leaned in, hugged him and kissed his cheek! That beard stubble - Wow!!! I said "Great! How are you?" and he said "Great!" - huge smile! I said "Congratulations on your nomination" and he said "Thanks!" and then Carrie was ready to pull him on to the next press stop. I stood there in one place for a minute or two wondering how the hell that just happened?! He remembered me! It was amazing...simply amazing!!'

'After watching him continue on with his photos and press stops he was headed into the hotel ballroom very close to start time so off I went backstage to work! He talked to various people on the carpet - the one he talked the longest to was Natalie. He was very upbeat the whole time - at first when the fans in the bleachers asked him to come over to sign autographs he gave a signal like "I don't know if I can" and looked toward his publicist for confirmation but once he was told he had a few minutes to sign he walked right over to them. Although when he was "posing" for photos he was very serious with that brooding stance and stare when he was being interviewed he was smiling and laughing - always friendly with the interviewers, etc. Just so upbeat!'

'While on the carpet I saw Natalie as I said and also Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Kevin Spacey, Mark Ruffalo, Jimmy Fallon, Lea Michele (Glee), Matthew Morrison (Glee), Carrie Underwood and January Jones... Backstage I saw Bruce Willis, Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Matt Damon, Steve Buscemi, Tilda Swinton, Chris Colfer (Glee) and Claire Danes among others. But I will say when I saw first Al Pacino and later Robert DeNiro come backstage, well, words cannot explain...those two are legends!! Another highlight was being in the press room when the ENTIRE cast of Glee came in after their big win...all of them...a huge, excited, loud, very happy group - they were so much fun and everyone in the industry loves Glee so everyone was so excited right along with them - clapping for them, high fiveing them, etc!! All of these moments were great...but NOTHING compares to my encounter with Jake on the red carpet.'

I am so grateful to Lisa for sharing her adventure with us! I'm not mentioning the 75 degrees that she had to endure in LA to bring us her story...

There are more videos from the red carpet here at Access Hollywood and People.

Golden Friends

There are new photos today, courtesy of IHJ, of Jake with some famous friends, including Anne Hathaway, Johnny Depp and the first actor that I ever met - Tom Hanks. I spent a day with him on set in the mid 1990s in Washington DC and so, for me, seeing Jake and Tom together is a golden moment indeed.

The Day After

Jake was seen the day after the Golden Globes out with Marc Silverstein, the husband of Busy Philipps. What a weekend.

Includes pictures from BBMISwear and IHJ.

Thank you for your report, BBMISwear. Good to see through people like you that Jake was having fun and being friendly with everyone.

I'm in love with these pictures of Jake with Johnny, Anne, Tom Hanks, but mainly for the pictures I saw of him with my idols Bale and Nolan.
Bale seemed to be making a joke with Jake. And please, Nolan, Jake working with you in future.

Thanks so much for sharing another of your adventures with us Lisa.

It's great to read about Jake working the red carpet and giving time to the fans. When you mentioned seeing Pacino and De Niro my heart nearly stopped. Those two are complete legends and huge idols of mine.

There are some great pics from the awards. Love seeing Jake sharing a joke with Johnny.

*THUD*

How incredibly AWESOME!! BBMISwear/Lisa, you know you have a couple million females imagining themselves in your place during that red carpet encounter, right?

When I was in L.A. I had my photo taken next to a cardboard cutout of Tom Selleck. *sigh*
Life just isn't fair...

Hi Monica! I love seeing Jake with our heroes. I feel just like that with Jake and Tom Hanks. He was lovely to me when I spent hours with him years ago. I would love to see Jake work with Christopher Nolan :)

Isn't it wonderful, Carol! A real insight into Jake's behaviour on the red carpet and wanting to sign etc. And to see Pacino and De Niro :)

Hey Susan! That is so funny! I've been quite lucky in LA over the years. My best night was gatecrashing The Night Before party a few years back (there's a post here somewhere) where I saw Orlando Bloom and Nicole Kidman but I also saw Leo DiCaprio and Steve Martin in LA and sat next to Jon Voigt in a cafe and chatted with him. I love the place! Of course, I've usually spent my time in LA just missing Jake by an hour or two! Lisa gave us a great account. Loved it! And taking pics too... fab :D

Wow, thank you Eureka!

What an encounter for Lisa!! Wow. Just wow. You known I was actually worried that would seem stalkerish for Lisa if she bumped into Jake. But obviously Jake is genuinely affectionate and has great memory ;). Kudos to Lisa for staying sane (!!!!) and share the amazing moment with us.

Hi Winterbird :) Jake just astounds me again and again - how genuinely nice he is. And kudos to Lisa in heaps and mountains :)

He,he. I have to come again and say The picture when Jake spots Lisa is just wonderful. *big grin*.
Hey Lisa! didn't our knees get weak?
Ole! Ole and Ole! :oD

Congrats Lisa, I am glad Jake was having a good time with his friends and apparently you. He really is a nice guy, no matter how the press is now trying to paint him as a "rogue" after the last blonde incident.

Sorry Monica but the Nolan guy is just so overrated. He ruined a perfectly camply superhero Batman and turned him into dark knight which I equate to satin. Sorry Nolan's films and his mind are so depressing. I blame him and that Joker role for Heath's sleepong problems. Who knows, if he had not did that role, Heath might still be with us.

Sorry, should be Satan above.

Hi Anon - that's most definitely not a discussion I want here. It's one thing saying you don't like a director (I say that all the time) and it's another thing entirely to blame him for the loss of a life. A serious accusation with no place for discussion on this blog.

I'm not a Batman fan but I loved Inception. And not surprisingly hardly any press is calling Jake a 'rogue'. Much of the media is in agreement that Jake is a nice guy however.

Waves to Eureka!

Hey Everyone! Well I'm back home (why on earth did I leave 75 degrees and sunshine for 30 degrees and snow, sleet and ice)?!

Thank you WDW for sharing my "report from the red carpet" - it really was an amazing experience (and really was literally FROM the red carpet this time)! I've worked many events in the entertainment industry over the years but this one goes beyond description! And my timing of being where I was on the carpet when Jake was making his way through was utterly perfect.

You're right Winterbird - it could start to look a bit stalkerish - ha ha! But this time I was truly working and I think he could see that (although it didn't prevent me from saying Hi or him giving me a friendly hug)! Yes, a good day at the office and true! It really was a hectic day/night with a lot to do and a lot of running around but an amazing experience too! And as you mentioned, Carol, Pacino and De Niro...well...you can't even put into words what they do to a room when they walk through it. People literally just stop what they're doing - they truly are legends.

Thanks again everyone for always being interested in my "reports" and for WDW for having the best place in the world to share!!

Off to get some much needed sleep now (and I still haven't even watched the Golden Globes yet)!!

:-)

Thanks for the pictures and the story, Lisa. There are people who think Jake deserved to win a Golden Globe, though I doubt that he expected to.

I grant that De Niro is a legend, but he's been doing mostly comedy roles in recent years, as has Dustin Hoffman. A younger generation has come into its own, leaving the older legends with a choice between being villains or doing light comedy. At least they're still acting, which is a plus.

Only about one in five actors could expect to walk away with a Golden Globe, so they would be there to mingle with friends and fans, and of course be photographed in their best clothes.

Anonymous said...

@Luna,
I don't think anyone has mentioned it because you are apparently the only one who sees it that way. Jake must not be too worried since he not only acknowledged her, he even gave her a hug. Under the circumstances I think her behavior was quite normal as is the look in her eyes.
Thanks, though, for your concern for Jake's welfare.

Morning everyone :)

Yeay BBMISwear :-) Good to have you back and thanks for the fabulous report, email, pics and general excitement and happiness that you've given me over the last day or two :D Great job and to do a professional job while around Jake is admirable, and to take shakefree pics. And what an incredible opportunity to experience the Globes! As you know, I stayed at the Hilton years ago when the Globes were on and it was thrilling. Take it easy! Glad you're home safe :-)

You know what, Luna? Your comment is gone. That's one of my closest friends you're taking liberties with. Not acceptable.

Hi Paul! I so agree with what you say about the older stars. I admire de Niro and I cannot stand these Fockers movies. I'm sure they bring in the pennies but it's not how I want to see him on the screen. Like you say, I'm sure it's an amazing experience to be nominated and a great chance to catch up with some sparkly people - Jake looked to be enjoying himself.

Hi Anon - Lisa did an amazing job of combining her work and being near Jake!

Have a great day everyone!

Hello WDW, fantastic reports and so wonderful to see Lisa there that I just had to pop in to say 'Yay!'. I've seen LAOD twice now, which is never enough, so been catching up on the video interviews etc. I must been a bit bemused by the sort of press Jake has been getting lately, so I guess he is even more so - I hope he doesn't let the bastards grind him down! Amazing that Lisa should find him so upbeat.
Amazing work by WDW and friends over the past few months, literally jaw dropping news.
This is so much fun!

Thanks every so much,T! Glad you enjoyed it :D

Great to see you TD! I hope things are going well for you. It's great to know you're about. I definitely think that Jake deals with all this so well and he clearly has so many friends around him. And how wonderful that he remembered Lisa and was so ready with a hug. Jake is very special and always surprises. Thank you and so good to see you! x

Oh boy I MUST hear what this Luna person said about me - LOL!! Please, someone tell me - or better yet: Luna, if you're reading this, please send an email to WDW directly and ask her to pass it on to me. She will do that for me if I ask her to and I would LOVE to hear you tell me directly what you think about my experiences with Jake. I missed your comment and would love the chance to comment back (it sounds like from what my friends are saying here you may have an issue with what I've experienced lately)? Hmmmmmm. I'm here if you want to discuss it.

In the meantime...thanks, friends, for all your kind words and support!! It's true it took a lot of concentration to spend some time with Jake and then go right into full force work mode. Luckily the job was an exciting one so I could (some what) focus! And as for the shake free pictures, WDW, well I've only shared the 'decent' ones! There are plenty that are either a complete blur or, get this, of the carpet only - the carpet - just a big red square!! I literally would be looking at him but pointing my camera straight down at the carpet (?!?!). Kind of funny!!

Well back to the real world and the real big to do list but it's so much fun chatting with you all!! Don't forget to write to me Luna :-)

Thank you WDW for that post and for a chance to read BBMISwear report!
Hi Lisa! - Congratulations! You were between so many famous people. And the most important one - Jake! WOW! Lucky you. It looks like your relationship with him is progressing :) Last time he took a picture of both of you. How could he forget you:) With your beautiful smile? This time he hugged you and you had a chance to kiss him. Who knows what will happen next time? I keep my fingers crossed for a nice encounter.
Thank you so much for that report. It was really nice to read and imagine all that situation.

Wow Lisa, I am so jealous of you.
First you get to hug the man of my dreams and then you look amazing and you seem to have an awesome job.

Well, live just ain't fair, right?

I didn't read Luna's comment, but I can't think of anything anyone could complain about concerning Lisa's experience. I felt so happy and upbeat just reading it.

Thanks for sharing!

BBMISwear said...

Thank you Mermon for your kind wishes! I really have been so lucky to have some exciting adventures lately! I think once you see a person a number of times they may start to recognize you but maybe not be able to place you exactly, if you know what I mean? I've seen Jake in working situations mostly (working for him and either working, semi-working or just plain fun for me) so I'm guessing he remembers me from some industry events but may not remember exactly how/when. We all know how many people he meets in a given week never mind in a given year - I don't know how people in his position do it with all those introductions!

Oh, and DSF, the Golden Globe gig may be up for me but I work many entertainment events so I'm not concerned that there won't be more for me. What do you do for work? It sounds like you may work in the film industry based on the way you worded your comment that 'Jake and his team are in to me' - did you mean on to me BTW? Sounds like you know his 'team'. Do you? Hmmmm. Interesting. :-)

BBMISwear said...

P.S. Thank you Mrs. JG - Jake was upbeat, I was upbeat, WDW was upbeat reporting it so I'm happy to see that you and so many others are upbeat reading it!! :-)

Hi WDW and everyone!
Dear God, there was another amazing adventure you got with JAke there... Congratulation Lisa.. Thank you for the report, they were very wonderful..
And this post, I think, is absolutely wonderful too, seems like there's so much fun at the award's night, I love the pics of Jake with another actors, I love Johnny Depp, so it's delightful to see both of them in one pic, I like Tom Hanks too... Annie was gorgeous, she and Jake was really like a perfect match.
Well, thanks a lot for the posts WDW!!!

BBMISwear said...

Another shout out to DSF: I'm not sure if I understood your comment correctly or not - it sounded to me like you think that Jake's team may be on to me in a bad way but someone just told me who they think you might be and that your comment probably wasn't meant to be negative. It's sometimes a challenge trying to decipher what a person means via a blog comment so I may have taken it the wrong way!

mermon said...

@Lisa! Probably you're right, maybe Jake doesn't know exactly how have you met before, but he has to be sure that it was something nice about meeting you if he decided to put out his arm and pull you into a hug. And let you kiss him on a beardy cheek. Few more encounters and you will be the one to make an interview with him :)

I like all the pictures from this post. Those made by Lisa and the others - with Anne - I like the way Jake looks at her. With Tom Hanks and with Johnny Depp - is a funny one.
Jake really looks enjoying himself, he seems to like to talk a lot and he had a great opportunity to do that with so many famous people.

mermon said...

@ Lisa to cheer you up - you should see the picture Susan made and posted on our forum. At 1:55 pm - 5th page
Hey, Lisa!

Jake should know your name, so he could call you properly if next time will happen.

BBMISwear said...

OMG you guys have me smiling from ear to ear right now! Thank you Susan for that very funny photo/caption of Jake on the red carpet (and to Mermon for pointing me in the right direction to find it)! I may have to remind him of my name next time and then try to get him to give me a "Hey Lisa" directly!

Thanks again...and if I don't stop popping by here I'm not going to get anything done today! You guys are the best :-)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hello everyone! I've loved overhearing the conversations - Mermon that is a lovely thing to link to! Good job Susan :) And thanks for spending so much time round here today, BBMISwear :-)

WOW how did I miss this! I am glad I saw this on DC forum.

BBMISWEAR I am very happy that you got to see Jake again. I know my heart would have stopped beating had he grabbed me and hugged me. I would have stood frozen in that spot.

I remember meeting one of my fave actors at a reception after a celeb hockey game. I asked to have my pic taken with him and he put his arm around me and rested his chin on top of my head. I was like WOW after that thrilling experience.

Are you going to be at the Oscars?

BBMISwear said...

Hi Sweetpea. Even after meeting Jake a few times now there is still always those few seconds of bewilderment right after! It's always very exciting! No Oscar plans for me - I was very fortunate to get the Golden Globes gig as the events I work on are typically much smaller. What a great experience it was!

:-)
