Jake Gyllenhaal pops out to Ammo, Peter Sarsgaard to direct and write Born to Run, Duncan Jones to follow Source Code to Japan

21 June was the summer solstice and, obviously, if there's anywhere you should be on that day it's among the stones and crowds of Stonehenge in the rain. However, it's widely accepted that the second best place to be on Midsummer (and you can ask Bear Grylls this) is among the eateries of Los Angeles. Therefore, Jake Gyllenhaal popped out to Ammo Cafe in Hollywood. The Face Pet went too.

Born to Run

The July issue of Menswear is looking particularly good. Peter Sarsgaard graces its cover and photos of him feature in many of its pages.

Apart from talking about Green Lantern - and the difficulties of getting into that rather big head, Peter also talked about a future project and it's one that we have been following here for quite a wile - Born to Run.

Peter revealed that he is not only directing it - and it's his directorial debut - he's also writing it. This means that he will not be starring in it himself. We've talked quite a bit here about who will feature in Born to Run, ever since the Leadville 100 race in August last year, when both Jake and Peter were seen observing the race and Chris McDougall, the author of Born to Run. With Peter now removing himself from the part, who better to take the role than Jake? Especially with Peter behind the camera directing him. Definitely one to continue to watch.

And finally...

Duncan Jones has tweeted this evening: 'Hey Japan! It looks like I WILL be coming out to Tokyo at least, to do press for the film! Yay! Will see if I can get to another city too.' This is great news and must come as some reward to Japan for the late release of Source Code - 28 October no less. Do keep an eye on Man Made Movies for release dates and much more to do with Duncan.

Wow, that's great news! Peter Sarsgaard writing AND directing Born to Run! I wonder when it will actually start filming?

How do you think Jake and Peter would get along on set with only one of them acting and the other directing?

Great news for Duncan Jones and Japan - it's fantastic that he'll get to go there to do press for Source Code. I hope that means SC is highly anticipated in the countries where it has yet to be released.

I hope that Jake gets this part, it will be nice working with his brother in law.

WOW Japan has to wait so long to see Source code? it's a shame Jake won't be part of the promo there

I really is good news, Susan! It's so exciting! I think Peter wants to film it through the Autumn in Mexico and so he's raising funds now. I think Jake and Peter will work perfectly together, inspiring the other.

I'm really pleased Duncan's off to Japan, and it sounds like he is too. Japan has had to wait a long, long time and this'll give it such a boost.

I hope so too, Sweetpea :) It's such a long time. It's a shame, but at least Duncan can go.

I had a nostalgic night at the movies on Monday when I sae an old favourite Shirley Valentine, a film I love very much. I've written about it here

ooh, my word is twerp!

Great news. I'd love to see Jake directed by Peter!

Also, with promotion in Japan as late as October, maybe Jake may be available too and come with Duncan. I know how the Japanese must be feeling to have to wait so long.
I might be able to catch another viewing of SC tomorrow before it'll leave theaters for good.

Morning everyone! Just been looking at the muddy photos from Glastonbury - fortunately it's sunny today...

Hi Mrs JG! Jake loves Japan so that would be wonderful - maybe they could work something out.

It would, Monica :) I quite fancy seeing Jake in this myself but I have a whole list of things I'd like him to do!

Good to see you, Mayumintolor! I do hope you see Duncan in Tokyo and please tell us all about it. It is such a long wait. Thanks so much for reading the site and for having promoted it for so long on Twitter :) I'm really glad you commented.

I bought the Love and Other Drugs blu-ray yesterday. can't wait to see Jake in hi definition :D

Yes, Japan likes Jake. I'm sure they will like source code, bringing more money to the box office.
Nice to have you here @mayumintolor, welcome on board:)And let us know about Duncan's visit in Tokyo.

Peter is such a nice guy, I hope he will be satisfy with his directing. I have no idea if this kind of movie about running will be exciting for me, I don't know what kind of interesting story he may create around it. But it must be something in it, if he choose it for his directing debut. I'm really wonder who his main actor will be. I found an article about Born to Run on Twitter:
Peter Sarsgaard To Direct And Write Born To Run But Will Jake Gyllenhaal Star?

Morning Mermon! I hope that Peter can achieve his goals with directing - as an actor he's had such a mixed bag.

Thanks for the link - particularly as that article is written by me! I do like to spread news of Jake around when I can :)

Hahaha! That's funny. So, let's the people enjoy it!

Thanks for the link, Mermon! Apparently I need to pop over to Bleeding Cool a lot more often - that's a great article, Kate. :)

@Monica: Why wouldn't you want to see Jake in 'Born To Run'? I definitely won't be upset if Jake is not cast (Peter can cast anyone he wants to). I was just wondering why you wouldn't like the idea?

I like Peter, he seems like a lot of fun during interviews and I wish him a lot of success for this project.

It is funny! Hi Mermon :)

Indeed, Susan - I often write for Bleeding Cool. I feel like I've found a voice there now :)

Hi there Margo! I think Jake would be great in the role and I can see him working with Peter. As for Peter, I love him and I wish him so much success.

Back in from a night out, seeing Bridesmaids!

@WDW: It's so nice that you felt that you've found a place at Bleeding Cool. I know we all enjoy your articles over there as well as MB blog.

Have fun seeing 'Bridesmaids',
I have heard good things about it but I don't think I'd enjoy it - especially for $10.00. I did like 'The Hangover Part I' which seems a bit like Bridesmaids; but I don't know if I can see more movies like that. It seems like if you've seen one then you've seen them all.
So with all of that said, I hope you let us know if you liked it or not.

Thank you @WDW and @mermon for your words. :)
of course I will tell you all about it if I can see Duncan in Tokyo. I think I have to learn English more before he comes. :p
I really hope that Source Code makes hight record of box office in my country.

Good morning everyone! A beautiful day :)

Thanks so much, Margot, I really appreciate that :) I enjoyed Bridesmaids - I'll write about it later - but not as much as I thought I would.

Thanks Mayumintolor, and I hope so too!

Have a lovely Friday everyone!

Margot, the story seems meh, it would be good for a documentary. I also like Peter.

Hi,
I like the idea of Peter and Jake working together on Born to Run.

I'm heading off to the theatre in NL to see Source Code once again (not dubbed :-).

Have a nice evening everyone

Christina I think dubbing should be illegal especially on Jake's movies. I mean, seriously, who wants to hear some other actor doing a voiceover for Jake. Accept no imitation is my motto!

Hello Christina, Monica and Sweetpea! And I totally agree about the dubbing. Subtitles are much better.

Just came back from SC. It gets better everytime I see it...

@sweetpea and WDW: I totally agree :-) I really don't like dubbing but in Germany unfortunately subtitles are unusual :-( I think I have to go to the theatre in Netherlands more often. It's just 25 km from here.

I am so so glad you enjoyed it again Christina! Well worth the drive for non-dubbed Jake.

I've just bought the blu ray of Love and Other Drugs. I'm looking forward to some quiet moments to watch that again too :)
