It's almost too amazing for words. Still trying to recover, here. Damn.

I don't know what to say, because "I love it" sounds not right, given the subject of the video.

But, my gawd, it's brilliant. Anybody who thinks that Jake doesn't have it in him to play a psycho will have to rethink.

Dark. Darker. Donnie Darko.
All grown up.
All gone mad.

Sasha, you make me laugh out loud! The video is AMAZING! Jake is BRILLIANT! Much darker than Donnie Darko, though. More like Holden Worther goes Zodiac?! Not really as this is quite original even if it reminds us of other roles...

It's time to kill ! ;)

Wow...I don't even know what to say! Maybe Jake always wanted to play a serial killing psycho but didn't want it on the screen for 2 hours so decided to do an 8 minute version?! Either way I think he is GREAT in it but - ugh. Gory!!! I am running out the door so only could watch it once... I will definitely be back later to watch it again (and again). He is surely Lookin' Good in this and plays the role very nicely but I kinda hope he got this psycho killer stuff out of his system for a while. I don't need to see this on the big screen anytime soon - ha ha!

P.S. AWESOME pictures from Florida in your other post Kate!! I absolutely love that one of you and your friend the sea lion. Have fun...and let us know what YOU think of the video!

:-)

"Holden Worther goes Zodiac."

You're so right, Susan.
I got exactly what I was hoping for.

Sorry, BBMISwear, but I would love to see this as a whole movie and NOT with Christian Bale!

He's great and I cannot believe it's 8 minutes, I thought it would be two or three minutes, what a treat!

I've never been quite so disturbed while also completely turned on. Only JG has that power. The song is also fantastic. Had me moving.

Hi Kate! Thank for thinking about us despite having exciting vacations.Your pics from previous post are great, the first one is absolutely adorable with that charming guy in black suit and with moustache. He seems to like you:)
Time To Dance - first of all, I didn't expect it to be that long! And so brutal. And Jake - no1 brute - totally shocked me. I had no idea he could be so convincing as a badass. Because I know him as an extremely nice guy with huge gentle eyes and his innocence I know with that action we saw here was very scary.
I liked him more with a beard, especially in sauna! Hot! And think! Straight from bloody video set he came to Berlin, freshly shaven after killing and got innocent little bouquet of flowers from old gentleman - Festival director - Dieter. What a mixed of emotions!
This afternoon I saw Lady in Black horror with Daniel Radclife. I've enjoyed it, but I hope Jake will never starr in horror, cause I promised to myself that it was a last horror in my life. Not for my nerves. Too much tension.

I wonder how did you understand the end of a vid.
I think that according to the title Time To Dance - Jake The Ripper, watching energetic dancing movements made by a guy and a girl - started energetically to hit the wall with a rhythm of the music and somehow discovered a way to calm himself down with a music and movement. TTD makes sense. When he's in the scene with the birds - he seems completely calm and peaceful already.
What do you think about it?

No words...A psycho-Jake! A dream came true!

Jake plays psycho well but he did as a teenager too. Who hasn't felt the need to off a hipster lately?

Wow!
Too scary for me. Just saw it once. And totally believed he could kill like that. Not sure if I want to see it twice....Maybe tomorrow with day light. :o(
I agree with BBMISwear:
"I don't need to see this on the big screen anytime soon - ha ha!"
Thanks WDW.

I would love to see him doing this on the big screen, in a feature. Somebody please cast him:)

I do not quite understand the clip, it should be time to kill rather than a time to dance lol
But Jake wants to prove he can do a great villain and managed and that brings me to a question, are you engaged in a project in which he is the villain? Is that why he can not hit with the producers of "Motor City" ? hope so
I did not find the song so bad!

Hello everyone! Finally got to see the video at the hotel. Really wonderful to see Jake on film again but for me it's a painful reminder that where I really want to see Jake is on the big screen, not in a music video. But he's a charismatic presence for sure!

I have no doubt that Jake would make an excellent psycho killer in a film - maybe he has a desire to play a terrifying baddie - and he did remind me of Donnie Darko a little here too - but I'm not sure this kind of story is for me. Give me a couple of hours of storyline and maybe... but I'm a wuss when it comes to 8 minutes of psycopath. Not sure whether I find the song catchy or irritating. Will need to listen to it again. So good to see Jake again though :D

So good to see you all! New and older posters! Really great to see that - thanks all of you :)

If I'd have to sum it up in one word: disturbing!

I love The Shoes' latest album, and particularly "Time to Dance", which reminds me of another fav band of mine, LCD Soundsystem. But, I have to say, "Time to Dance" conjures up very different images in my mind than the ones shown in this videoclip. Djeesh.
So dark, so violent, so confronting. I'd love to know how this story came about.
We all know Jake can do psycho, but this serial killer performance gives me the chills.
Agree with mermon's interpretation about the ending. I use music to channel emotions. Joy, happiness, sadness, loneliness, anger, frustration... Have a special playlist on my iPod called "anger mngt" ;-) Perhaps I should drop "Time to Dance" in there now too, amidst System of a Down's "Chop Suey" and Papa Roach's "Between Angels And Insects". Not sure that'll flow though.

Jake is a Mad Dog. Mad Dog...
Can't wait to see how he'll surprise us next. ;-)

I think Jake could do a murderer if he was a very smart bad guy. Diabolical. I once saw a movie about a serial killer with Kevin Costner starring in it as the serial killer. It was called
"Mr. Brooks." There was a twist in the movie. Two or three actually and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Many unexpected aspects. William Hurt was also in it. This is what I mean by a smart movie. Even though Kevin Costner was the villain, somehow he was also the protagonist.

This video was very gruesome. I like the comparison of Donnie Darko meets Zodiac.

ANTJE said...

Hmmm, reminds me a little of AMERICAN PSYCHO.
The video here is just another proof that our sweet and cute and handsome Jakey is such a good actor who can play anything, even a mass murderer, and still be credible.

Looking forward to finally watching END OF WATCH.

Morning everyone from sunny Florida! Off to Universal Studios today to see the new Harry Potter world :)

Good to see you again, Leminscate!

It's so good to see everyone here :)

Aileen said...

Hi Kate, Have fun at Universal:) Have a nice day!

mermon said...

Kate! How was Harry Potter world? Daniel Radclife blossomed into a nice handsome guy. And very fine actor too.

Hi @lemniscate!Long time no see! Nice that you spoke up!
So you discovered how to defuse tension by music, so no worry for you to become a serial killer, isn't it? :)

Amazing video, too gory for my taste but it was nice to see Jake walking on the dark side, he hasn't been this dark since Donnie Darko.

The woman in the photo is Lea Seydoux, a french actress he met when he was in Europe, they were seen in Paris after the Berlin FF. She is in town filming a movie and her character has to have blue hair

Thanks Sweetpea! There's no way I would have3 recognised Lea with the blue hair!

Had a lovely day today but blimey what a long day... Waves to Mermon and Aileen :)

I am pretty sure her movie is filming in France not New York. I don't think she came here to film a movie.

A bit of a late comer (been a bit busy :( ) but SCARY comes to mind. Which speaks of Jake Gyllenhaal's talent. Very convincing. Still a bit freaked to be honest :))))
Glad to see you are having a great time in Florida Kate. Sand some sunshine our way :)
