Hot on the heels that Jake Gyllenhaal may be replacing Dominic Cooper in Motor City, comes the revelation that it may be following in the illustrious footsteps of The Artist. The rumour has it that Motor City has only one line of dialogue in the entire film. Obviously, one imagines that it must be an extremely significant sentence, but it appears that Jake may not be up all night learning his lines. The way movies are going, we may look back with affection on the long lost days of the Talkie.
For more information on the script, here is a link to an interview with its author Chad St John. Apparently, there is another version of this ''silent' revenge movie' with some dialogue so we'll have to see which we get. If you're interested you can download the 2009 version of the script here (with thanks to BBMISwear for the link).
This post contains the first image of Jake from the video Time to Dance by The Shoes. The good news is that the video is released on Monday!
Posting will be intermittent over the next few days for the most excellent reason that I am off on my hols in the wee small hours tomorrow for a week in Florida - WDW is off to WDW!

Fantastic news about the release of The Shoes' video! Can't wait to see what it's like.
As for scripts, my understanding is that they are ever-evolving, even after filming starts. But a mostly dialogue-free action 'revenge' movie sounds pretty good - IF Jake signs on. Otherwise, I could probably skip it. :)
Hope you enjoy your time at WDW! Wish I could go again...
Hey Kate, thanks for the good news about the video, can't wait.
And have a great time on your hols. Show us the photos when you come back.
How nice is to come back home to find few fresh news!
First of all, congrats Kate on your departure to Florida. Sounds absolutely gorgeous. I can imagine we'll have beautiful interlude pictures. Take some in bikini, please! :)
Time to Dance on Monday?! Can't believe that it's so fast! That pic with Jake is very interesting, like from Hitchcock' "Birds". The Shoes tweeted Sasha and me once, that maybe we should be nervous about that vid, so I wonder what's in it.
I wouldn't like Motor City with one line only. Cause it would be very unlikely that 2 silent movies could win Oscar in such a short time ;) and that's what I wish for Jake. So I hope they will choose a version with some dialogue. Would be still intriguing.
Thanks for news Kate! Have fun on Florida!
Wow, How many great news.
Have fun WDW! Enjoy the warm and sunny weather. Bring great pictures to share.
That is a breathtaking picture. WDW Enjoy Fla. It's 67 in NYC today while one year ago there was 76 inches of snow on the ground.
Again have fun!

Hello everyone!
Hi Susan, I'd have to agree. Thanks!
Thanks 18:19 :D
Hi Mermon, I'm really looking forward to the video :) I'll be taking pics, although there is more chance of me wearing a gorilla outfit than a bikini... ;)
Thanks Eureka!
Hi Sass! It's due to be mild here this weekend but I am so looking forward to being somewhere hot! Been a long time :)
I hope you all have a good evening. I'd better think about packing...
I'm glad the wait for the music video wasn't too long...after all that buzz I'm glad we get to see it as soon as Monday!
I definitely like the sound of the Motor City story but am not greatly excited about this particular movie for Jake for a few reasons. I guess we'll see how it all pans out.
Have a GREAT trip WDW! I'm looking forward to pictures!!
:-)
Hi there BBMISwear :-) I think we're thinking alike here as usual! All sounds very odd, though Gary Oldman perks it up for me. Good news about the video. And thanks for everything, I'll be in touch and I'll be on BBMISWear time! xx
Good news ! Can't wait for the video.
Enjoy your holidays in Florida ! Have a great time there.
Looking forward for your interludes.
Christina
How many news!!Jake,Gary Oldman, an action, revenge movie...OMG! I'm soo excited and crossing fingers for this project!
Happy holidays in Florida, Kate, all the best!
A wonderful friday and weekend to everyone
Carlotta
Can't wait to see that video.
Have a great holiday in fabulous Florida Kate. Enjoy Disney World:)
Hi! I am very happy with the news of the new movie
until finally something to comment, I come here every day and was so anxious to know what the movie and liked the detail that has little dialogue that means that Jake will be able to explore your eyes
Jake backed out of Motor City because they would not push back the dates. The whole point of getting a new actor was that Dominic couldn't make the shooting date. Disappointed in Jake, its pretty clear acting is not a priority right now which is his choice. Oh well guess I will take up Ryan Gosling movies now.
Thanks for the update, WDW. Looking forward to Monday.
Have fun in Florida, bring back a little sun, will ya?
Have a nice weekend everyone.
Morning from Gatwick Airport!
Well, that is all very disappointing about Jake pulling out of this project because of its dates. I can only hope that it's because he has something else moviewise coming up, otherwise it is indeed all very tedious.
Have a good Friday! See you on the other side of the pond!
You live in a lovely place, Leslie! I'm off to Orlando. Looks like there'll be lots of Daytona bike fans on the plane!
Whatever the reason it is disappointing to hear that Jake doesn't have a "next" movie project yet. I'm wondering if the timing was wrong for him because he wants to be available for family time when Maggie has the baby?
Is it just me or did the plot of "wrongfully convicted good guy hunts down the men who framed him" sound a bit like PoP?
Yay WDW...I love when you are on BBMISwear time!!
As I just said above, I wasn't too excited about this particular movie for Jake and if the new reports are true that he is not doing Motor City for scheduling reasons I hope that means there is another project in the works happening soon and he simply can't do both. If this is the case I am very much looking forward to news on what this next project might be. Practicing patience here (again) as we wait!
Safe travels WDW and be sure to post some pictures!!
:-)
Certainly being a Jake's fan is like riding a roller-coaster. Up and down. I am sorry to hear that, cause I liked the theme of Motor City.
I hope that Jake had good reason to skip the movie. I wonder why they announce things before final agreement. Waking fans hopes unnecessarily. I bet Jake rejected many projects we even didn't know about. I hope that some other movie is beyond that. Sigh.... I was so happy that he will start so soon and so close from here.
Kate, enjoy your flight! You will be in Jake's time zone soon.
I was so happy with this notocia a new movie, now we can only hope
Also I hope had a good reason to do so
In Deadline comments I found an explanation written by Douglas Urbanski - an executive producer of Motor City: "Gyllenhaal was never set for this film. There were talks. He was not available on the dates. That’s it. I am amazed at all the crazy and inaccurate reportage on this one. If anyone had asked at any point, I would have been happy to tell them!"
It's so nice that someone cared to answer and clear up all that rumour. It should teach us to be more patient.
Mermon - I think I might be able to explain a bit more regarding what happened with this possible new movie news. The very first reports to come in from the reputable publications/trade magazines (i.e. Variety, Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter) all said "in talks" or "in negotiations". I'm sure these were accurate reports but no cause to get too excited quite yet as nothing was final - but good news that he was at least in talks! Later that evening and the next day all the other not so reliable sources took their info from the big reliable ones but worded their reports as "will be starring in" or "has signed on with", etc. Still no real reason to get excited since this wasn't coming from one of the reliable sources. And sure enough within a day they were wrong - there was no deal. So definitely wise to be more patient when hearing news like this and always consider where the reports are coming from!
Let's hope if the real reason is scheduling conflicts that it means there is a great project for Jake happening soon and something we can all be excited about!
Happy Weekend all - happy vacation cocktails WDW!!
:-)
@BBMISwear I think you're right. That's how it's spread and started to live it's own life.
That's because poeple are so eager of new Jake's movie. And the process of creating it is so long. EoW was made spring/summer 2011 and will be seen in USA end of September 2012. Who knows when the rest of the world will see it.
Kate landed safely!
Morning all from (not hugely sunny but hopefully will be later) Florida! Have a good Saturday. I'm off to wear out my feet and drink a ridiculous amount of margaritas :)
I did enjoy Moneyball on the plane, very much, and J Edgar. See you later!
I'm guessing you're staying in Orlando then. I'm waving towards you from here in Tampa! Yes, it's our rainy time here when the temps are transitioning to Spring. You've picked a good time of the year - no US holiday and it's not excruciatingly hot. Have a fun vacation with Mickey and the gang!!
Thanks Leslie! Waving back :) I'm in Lake Buena Vista and I am so glad to say the clouds went away, the sun came out and I am now a beetroot... Had such a lovely day - Seaworld tomorrow.
Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a good weekend! Should be feeling human enough to do a post tomorrow :)
Enjoy your holiday Kate!
