Updated: **Emergency Post** Jake Gyllenhaal celebrates Paul Newman's Dream in NYC

Last night Jake Gyllenhaal took part in celebrating his 'Hollywood Godfather' Paul Newman's Dream at the Lincoln Center in NYC. This gives us the first glimpse of Jake in movie star mode since the successful Berlinale a couple of months ago. We even have video. Hopefully, shortly there will be more.

This is an emergency post and so I will be doing a proper post later but I just could not wait... Many thanks to IHJ for the pics, there are many more there!

Update:

We have some more video from Jake's appearance last night at the gala fundraiser for Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall charity, now known as Serious Fun. If you click on this link, you'll see footage of Jake that you can also download. Here is another montage - Jake features more than once.

[Updated again - thanks to Mermon for the link!]

The fact that Jake has been getting a little bit more Sasquatchy did not matter to some media commentators.

There are some fabulous photos of Jake from inside and outside the event. We must savour them as it might be a while... An so, in the interests of science, here are some of my favourites from the pictures.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled, this is a developing story, so watch this space!!

Hi there Lin and welcome!

What a great start to the day! Even Face Pet got a night out... :D

He seems really on edge with fame since the Taylor Swift drama. He doesn't look as relaxed and carefree. Am I reading too much into it?

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Er... yep, 9:17. Don't you remember all that wonderful SC promotion?

ANTJE said...

Yay, the face pet is still intact, but the hairdo is very much Elvis- Presley-without-the-sticky-stuff-in-it.
Kind of inward and absent look on the two close-up arrivals-photos outside the building, but maybe Anonymous's post at 9.17 today says it all. "Reading too much into it"???!??? What??
The innocent, sweet and "fluffy" Brokeback-era, when our superstar was still a young and hopeful is definitely over. Maybe we should be grateful that Jake is a grown-up man now in his early thirties with a lot more life experience than before.
But he SHOULD quit smoking.

Good morning!
I love to see you at these events for good

And sorry but what I asked in the last post was not to create a discussion, I really do not know what happens when a photo is not public and is posted on a blog

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Daniela - it is removed. And as mentioned before, this is NOT for discussion on the blog! If you have a question email me.

Hi Antje! We're all getting older - makes it quite interesting when you follow someone for such a long period of time!

Hi! Nice to comeback home from work to find all this. Jake was quite rushing comparing to Jimmy Fallon ;)Look at Jake's hair, how long and wavy it is and lighter too.
We may have a lot of updates. Should be something from the stage.

I would really like to know what he shook his head and answered no to in the first clip towards the end. He laughed a little . . you couldn't hear what the person asked. All in all, he seems relaxed but I'm sure it's overwhelming being asked a ton of questions all at once.

Thanks so much, Carlotta!

Thanks for the new video link, Mermon :) Jake's hair really has grown. I do wonder if it's movie related...

Hi there Leslie! It must be so overwhelming and so loud and so chaotic. I think it must be quite an art to deal with all that and come up with interesting answers - Jake is brilliant at it :D

Hi Kate,
Thanks for the emergency post and your update. You really do a very good job to keep us informed. Like it very much :-) Finally seeing Jake "official" after what seems like ages (though it's been only a few weeks since Berlinale)is great. I don't like the facepet very much, but nevertheless he's gorgeous.
Have a nice evening everyone.

Great update WDW - thank you!! It is so obvious that Jake (and probably most people who's careers put them in front of the media so much) get irritated by some of the stupid and off-topic questions at events like this. I'm so glad the media rep told that first guy to stick to questions related to the event. It's always easier when they are promoting a movie so they can try to stick to the subject matter as much as possible but at events like this the press seems to think anything goes. It must be so frustrating!

I agree with Jake - the Newman's Own products are awesome and the salad dressings are the best! I've been buying these products for years - yummy (and for a good cause).

I like the bits we are getting but do hope we get to see video of his speaking on stage as well. Good stuff (and now on to filming "that movie" I hope)! :-)

Sorry for posting two times in a row but I forgot to mention Jake's reference to Camp Walt Whitman - what a beautiful area that camp is in! It's just a couple of hours drive from me in a wonderful lake/mountain area - a very relaxing place indeed. Makes me want to go on vacation. I love Jake's New England ties! :-)

WDW great minds think alike, I was thinkin the extra longish fullish than normal hair was for his next role.

And off subject, Jake already has a mother who I see accompanied him to the event.

Morning all! Last day of work before Easter!

Thanks very much Christina!

Hey there BBMISwear :-) How I love the New England links too! And you're so right, the subject at these events should stay on topic - Paul Newman and his charities - and his sauces :D

Hi 2:53, I like to think that this means we're getting closer to a movie. Fingers crossed.

Have a good day everyone!

Margot said...

Now you guys have me interested: what did the interviewer ask Jake in the beginning of the interview when the woman said "event related-only questions, please".

Jake looks great :) Was his mom there with him? Is that what 2:53 was referring to? I am just confused today :)

@Anon - "the extra longish fullish than normal hair was for his next role." - we may be wrong here. I'm reading the book and so far Tertuliano/Jake is... shaven!
@BBMIswear - thanks for the info about Walt Whitman camp. Interesting.
Did you hear what Jimmy Fallon said about him not camping at all and childhood in front of TV - sad and touching.
We don't have Newman's Own products here where I live, but I know them from Canada, where I lived by some time. They were good.

About Camp Walt Whitman -- I thought I knew the White Mountains pretty well, having been going there for thirty or forty years -- but I had never heard of Camp Walt Whitman. It's west of the New Hampshire turnpike, whereas I've always gone east when I got to Lincoln/North Woodstock.
