More Serious Fun video, a chat with Daniel Wolfe and Ellen Pompeo reminisces about Jake Gyllenhaal ten years on

A day on and there is more coming out of Monday's Paul Newman Dreams celebration in NYC, including a video which features more of Jake Gyllenhaal's onstage speech as well as further interviews behind the scenes. As always, I do admire how Jake thinks on his feet and responds so well to interviewers in this conveyor belt type of arrangement.

Meanwhile, Daniel Wolfe, the director of The Shoes' Time to Dance video has been talking a little about his ideas behind this rather gory video, as well as the reason for its inclusion of Jake, giving Jake his first psychotic serial killer role. 'Jake and I had been discussing a script with a mutual friend, producer Lynette Howell. I knew he was into music videos, so when we wrote up the treatment, I sent it to them. They both responded well to it. And then we just had to sort out dates.'

'The atmosphere on set changed from scene to scene. In the party scenes there was no real distinction between shooting and not shooting, it was just a party so the atmosphere was a party. Then we’d just walk Jake in. We were shooting in the snow quite a bit which was testing. Sally Campbell cooked up Irish stew and turned up on set with that which lifted spirits considerably.' Nothing like a spot of stew in between murderous takes...

And finally...

Every so often, Ellen Pompeo likes to remind us that Jake Gyllenhaal once called her the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. I gave a full account of this back in 2009 but the subject has come up again at a press conference with Ellen, which also coincides with the 10th anniversary of the most wonderful Moonlight Mile. The report's mention of Jake being 12 is clearly not that accurate...

'Before auditioning for the film, "I was... in the waiting room and the director and this guy, Jake Gyllenhaal, who I had never heard of — no one had ever heard of him at that point — walked past me," Pompeo shared. "I [had] my head down... so I didn't get a look at Jake." But when she walked in to read, the 42-year-old actress got the shock of her life. "I had met Jake a couple of weeks prior on the sidewalk," Pomep explained. "I walked into the room and I saw Jake and I said, 'Oh my God, it's you!' We sort of bumped into each other. He told me I was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen."'

Moonlight Mile was such an incredible film, for Jake and Ellen, with the strongest chemistry between Joe and Bertie, and I'm not surprised that these memories have stayed with Ellen. This also gives me the perfect excuse to post here a video of what must be in my top three most favourite moments from any Jake film.

Great to see more on Jake's appearance at Monday's charity event and very interesting comments from Daniel Wolfe!

And I have to send a big *sigh* for the wonderful Moonlight Mile flashbacks - thank you for that! I saw that bit from Ellen Pompeo and I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear! And of course then all the Moonlight Mile memories came rushing back - how I love that movie. And although I enjoyed the video you shared immensely I am surprised you didn't share some other things like pictures of park benches, a wall high above the ocean and a certain special post office, hmmmm?! Hee Hee...just teasing...but wow that was one special Moonlight Mile-ish weekend!! :-)

And...while in a *sighing* mood - one more while we celebrate Heath Ledger's birthday today. Wow. Time can be a strange thing, huh?

Cheers to all these great memories! Thank you WDW!! :-)

Hello BBMISwear :-) Good to see you! I love, love, love that scene from Moonlight Mile. Ahhh, the benches and post office - will never forget those.

For all new WDW readers, BBMISwear and I went around New England visiting the sites and scenes from Moonlight mile!

I've been remembering Heath today too :)

The Easter hols are here! As is the sleet and hail...

BBISwear, about the last post and the comment about Jake's hair, it wasn't the beard I was referring to but the hair length. Jake may grow that beard but lately at least the last couple of years he has left the hair rather short even when not doing movies.

His hair grows thick and he once said its hard to maintain when longer. So I was referring to the hair on his head and other parts of his body not this face.

Hey WDW - a day later and I'm still thinking about our Moonlight Mile Filming Locations Adventures! Fun Stuff! :-)

Anon 5:26 - I'm not sure what you're referring to (or if it was me or maybe someone else who commented on your hair comment?!) but I do agree that the face pet comes and goes no matter what he's doing but longer hair usually means it's for a role. (And since I absolutely LOVE his hair long I am excited to see if there is a new role coming up soon that we'll get him with long hair). Trying to be patient but would love movie news sooooooooon!

Have a good long Easter weekend to those who are getting one!

:-)

Nice to see Joanne Woodward. She's such a remarkable woman and still looking very nice.
I like Jake's long hair too :)) Like I wrote in previous post - Tertuliano is shaven at the beginning of the story, so far it's nothing about hair, but it's something about looking nice :)
Conversation with Daniel Wolfe is very interesting, I was waiting for something like that. I like that idea of slow zooms of Jake :)
Strange that Daniel didn't mention American Psycho. The movie everybody were comparing the vid with. Also funny that he's not a big fan of extreme violence in films. I think we could say the same about Jake. He was never playing that kind of role at least. And despite those facts they made such a great vid together.
I like that moment in the video when Jake, sitting his profile to us - chews his food very slowly, methodically like.
I wonder why Ellen Pompeo mentioned Jake on a press conference. After so many years. It was nice of her.

Hello everyone!

I definitely agree, BBMISwear :-) The hair more than anything reflects role plans!!

Hi Mermon! Ellen does bring it up again, which is rather nice. Jake must have left quite an impression on her :)

I hope you all had a good day!
