Jake Gyllenhaal in NYC and a WDW London Interlude

You've got to love the summer, especially when it means that Jake Gyllenhaal gets out the white t-shirt and shorts. If he were in the UK he'd be in wellies with a brolly. On 30 June Jake continued his pattern of spending weekends in NYC, taking his regular breaks from filming An Enemy in Toronto. On this particular Saturday in the Big Apple, Jake was seen sharing a very animated discussion with a friend.

Many thanks to IHJ for the wonderful pics, of which this is my favourite.

WDW London Interlude

Yesterday, taking full advantage of some warm sunshine, we headed off to London to spend a few hours walking along the busy Thames, which is a river transformed from its stretch that flows through Oxford and is known as the Isis. While there were clues to the upcoming Olympics, we also had a look at the Golden Hind, the alarmingly small vessel on which Sir Francis sailed around the globe in the 1570s before being knighted on its decks by Gloriana, Elizabeth I herself.

In 1921, Shackleton's ship The dock where Shackleton's ship The Quest was fitted out at Hay's Wharf before its great journey south. This dock is now preserved as the striking and elegant Hay's Galleria (tasty bagels).

Other landmarks old and new stood proud and round or tall or taller.

Finally, thanks to Borough Market, there was cake... (thanks to Mr WDW for the final shot!).

Seeing photos of Jake when he's slumming around in t-shirt and shorts sporting a big smile is a very pleasant thing. Comparing photos of Jake in t-shirt and shorts to photos of Jake in a tux (red carpet perfection) is a lot of fun, too.

One of these days, maybe (fingers crossed), I'll get to see London first hand. Lovely photos, Kate. Thanks!

Thanks Susan! I can never decide between the white t-shirt or the tuxedo, Jake looks so wonderful in both.

It was a wonderful day in London - I love the Southbank, it's been done up beautifully. I do hope you make it over some time :)

Jake looks as lovely and cheerful as ever - DESPITE the camouflage shorts and his shoelaces undone.

Thanks Eureka! I'll certainly love it when we get it ;) Congratulations for the football!

He is, Antje :)

Have a good evening everyone!

Oh boy, that girl is so into Jake,I think her whole body language shows it!
Well I can't blame her of course...can't tell though if it's reciprocal.

Love your photos WDW, especially the one from the Globe Theatre.
Currently another favourite actor of mine, Rick Warden, is playing in The Taming of the Shrew there.

Hi Lin!
Yeah, looking at all the photographs I was thinking, too, that the girl's body language says A LOT about how she might feel for Jake.
;-))

Hi Lin! Glad you liked the photos. Taming of the Shrew was about to start when we were there. I must try and see Henry V.

Hi Antje :)

Happy 4th July to all the US WDWers:)

Oh dear, I happen to have a degree in British and American literature. But in fact, I'm a German, not a US WDWer.

Hi Antje - my comment wasn't targeted at you but was a general one aimed at the US readers who I hope are all having a good day :)

Antje, you have a very typical Dutch name, I thought you were from the Netherlands!

Linda from Belgium.

Yeah, my name IS Dutch indeed, meaning "little Anne/Anna". But all else: German from head to toe.
PS: My friends do not approve of my being such a big fan of the Gyllenhaal performing arts. They say I'm far too old for a "teenage following". But it's not. I really admire his art, am also interested in who produces, directs and presents his movies. Every time he gets into filming I look for all his statements and interviews about projects I can find because I want to know about his intentions and motivation why or why not he decides on doing this or that movie. I like his politics, his political opinion, his charity work. Even though I will never be able to see him performing on Brodweay this autumn it really pleases me to hear about this career move of his. What I can do without though is glossy magazine gossip stories about his private life, who he dates, where he vacates, where he does his shopping, where he takes his friends for dinner etc. My hobby is watching his movies, analyzing his art, his politics. The rest is his private matter, as far as I'm concerned. THANK GOD, WDW is one of the rare fan sites and fan blogs on the net practically omitting anything about his private life, usually concentrating on news about the "public" Jake and his public activities. That's a relief, really.

Lin said...

Well I think exactly like you Antje!
And if it's a relief: I'm much too old for him too...could be his mum LOL but we can dream can we ;-)

Well it's not our fault that Mr Gyllenhaal is sooooooo handsome, right?

Thank you so much Antje! That is just how I feel too. I like seeing what type of restaurants Jake goes too - as I'm a foodie - but otherwise Jake's private life is his own and I prefer to steer as far clear as I can. It's the movie star I'm interested in and gossip has no place here.

Hi Lin!

Sorry for lack of posting over the last couple of days. Organising some big events at work and my time has been taken from me :( But that's easing off shortly.

A quick hello from the lake region of New England vacationing with family and friends! I've had a lot going on ever since we hit the road so not much time on line - been trying to check in here a bit but unable to comment until now. I have so enjoyed reading the comments here from posters about what/why they're interested in Jake and why they like this blog. Agreed!!

I'll be back again when I can...cheers to all!

Hi, WDW.

I haven't stopped seeing movies. It's just that links to jake are getting sparser. "Finding a friend for the End of the World" didn't seem to have any. I'm trying to remember whether there were any in "Ted." There may have been one in "People Like Us." That's how it goes. :-(

Ang Lee has a newmovie coming out November 12: Life ofPi, based on a popular novel. Toby Maguire is in it.

For what it's worth, there was an amusing cameo by Ryan Reynolds in "Ted." He plays the gay boyfriend of a minor character. He doesn't have many lines, and is in only a couple scenes. Why would would an A List star settle for that? Maybe he just liked the movie's concept, and wanted to be connected with it without putting in a lot of work.

Sigh. I would love it if Jake were to do cameos in tons of movies. Sigh.
