A joy to come in from seeing Zodiac tonight - more of that later in this Zodiac weekend - and to find better versions of the photographs which preserve my own special and personal memory of Jake Gyllenhaal from yesterday's premiere in Cannes. It seems strange now to find that memory in photographs across the internet when it still feels very personal to me, as I remember that he was pointing and looking directly at my friends and myself.
Photographs from IHJ.

WDW -- I knew you would be lucky. You know why? I told you already. You have created a zone for generating positive loving energy. You and your friends have carried this collective "Chi" from so many of us .... this "Chi" drew Jake towards you and you have carried his energy back to all of us. And yes a big Welcome-Back hug to you.
I'm SO delighted for you all.Looking at the pictures earlier today, I just got this "sense" that somehow what ever was going on, it involved "our folks" and Jake was pleased. He's such a sweetheart. Has no problem with his fans whooping it up where appropriate! And he looked delicious...as usual. I'm SO impressed with what you've said about Chloe. She's an interesting actor and I'm familiar with her indie work. I think she's known Jake and Maggie and Mark Ruffalo for ages and ages.Part of that NYC artsy actory thing.LOL! What I've seen/read she seems very shy and very sweet and very smart. Just looking at the way Jake responds and looks at her, you can tell he is very protective of her. It's not a sexual boy/girl thing, it's a long time friend thing.
Oh, you are soooo lucky! What a feelng looking at these goreous pics of Jake knowing he was looking at and responding to you and your companions! Can I be happy for you and jealous at the same time? You bet!
Wow, what an experience, WDW. I would have turned into a squeeing fan, complete with throwing him a kiss (or three), and would have loved every minute of it! Hope his visit to Cannes was wonderful and special for him (looks like it was!), and it also looks like he found out just how much a few of his fans adore him and his work! :)
Were you behind the bank of photographers? That's how it looked on the IFC Cannes-cam - i.e., all fans on that side of the red carpet were stacked well behind barriers behind the photographers.
I was watching all this on the Cannes-cam, thinking of you lot there, and thinking "Oh those poor sods being THAT far away from him. Pity."
But hey, obviously Chloe's and his eyesight is better than 20/20 to have spotted the three of you there as the sole Jake fans.
Bobbyanna -- at the same time that WDW saw Chloe at Cannes I was watching her performance in Boys Don't Cry. It tore me up.
Thanks everyone!
Anon 4:04 - I was so lucky (mind you I was there early enough ;D) I was right at the front row at the end of the bank of photographers in a big gap - it was the gap for the jury to go through. The security guards were wonderful, they kept the jury from milling about there so as to not obscure our view.
We also had a big screen in front of us so we could look at that until the stars reached the bottom of the steps. From that point on I had a perfect view and Jake could see some fans of his had made it.
I must repeat how gracious Chloe was pointing out our area to Jake. But when he reached the top, our lungs and his ears made a connection!
I have some pictures so I'll put some up today and that way you can see where I was and what a good view I had :D
Incognita, Boys Don't Cry is one film I cannot even force myself to watch. I have tried many times. I'm very familiar with the story and did see a documentary about it.
I know that Chloe and Hilary Swank did an extraordinary job on it. Saw Chloe in Shattered Glass and like her a lot. Katie, just keep the positive energy flowing!!! I'm almost sure that Jake is with his sister by now in the UK!
Bobbyanna I can imagine what you would have gone through having experienced it in RL. I was reluctant to see the film .. I had the disk with me for 6 months. I was finally forced to see it for work. And I was surprised by the film in a good way. Lana in the movie is portrayed differently from the one in RL. I understand she even sued about that. But I will not digress here. What I really wanted to say is that Chloe brought to life an amazing screen character. I found her a very exceptional actress, very different. And I got the same feeling when I saw her in the Cannes pictures. And I like WDW's comment about her graciousness. I must look out for Shattered Glass.
Hello Kate,
This is your dear friend in Los Angeles, Midak. I am so amazed at your very beautiful website here that incognita introduced me to. It is just so wonderful and informative. Your Cannes adventure is just phenomenal, and I am so glad that Jake recognized you. I have heard that you are a bit under the weather at the moment and I hope that you will soon be feeling better. I also hope to see you soon on your home turf. I will be there August 4th through 19th and want to hook up. Sorry we haven't communicated since your visit here but it seems that you have been through a lot of amazing stuff since then. My life also has been pretty busy but obviously not quite as exciting as yours...
Much love,
Your La La Land Buddy
