I've looked up the meaning of 'gamine' and this is what I've learned: Wikipedia reports that 'the word was used in English from about the mid 19th century (for example, by Thackeray in 1840 in one of his Parisian sketches), but, in the 20th century, came to be applied in its more modern sense of a slim, often boyish, wide-eyed young woman who is, or is perceived to be, mischievous, teasing or sexually appealing.' I think this sounds like our Maggie.
Elsewhere in Jakeland, Jake was awarded second place - behind Matthew McConaughey - in the list of People magazine's top sizzling bachelors. Jake may have been Mat's running and cycling buddy through 2006, but, according to Jake's description at People, Jake's heart belongs to Ramona and watching her grow.

South Pacific is one of my favorite musicals evah! Good for Maggie! And yay for Jake as well, we think he should be No. 1 of course. :)

As for Matt Mc being #1 ....... all I can say is, 37 seems a bit long in the tooth to still feel obligated to show off your naked chest (constantly). Makes me think he is a little immature and more than a little self involved. And neither of those qualities are remotely sexy. Jake has him beat in so many ways......

I am actually getting ready to run to the passport office but my legs won't carry me. And I have my eyes glued to all the low priced airline ticket websites but I can't seem to find anything that's not soaring like an eagle pricewise. I think I'll take a day off internet and go for a ramble in the woods.

Jake as #2. PLEASE!! I was watching one of the Entertainment shows last night and this dimwitted editor from PEOPLE said that the reason Matt is number one is because nobody looks better with their shirt off. I beg to differ. PEOPLE seems bent on keeping Jake in the "sweet/sensitive" category. Obviously they have not seen Jake's most magnificent body. That could be because Jake doesn't feel the need to flaunt what he's got in public all the time. He knows that WE know what lies beneath so there is no need to advertise!
And, Birdie, I agree that 37 is a bit long in the tooth for such juvenile behavior!
Oh God, they've got to be kidding. Nobody looks better without a shirt than Jake IMO. That's ok, Matt has his following and Jake has his. It's even more attractive that Jake doesn't feel the need to flaunt his body. It's magnificent, you are right, Dani! :)

I love South Pacific myself - how great to have Maggie in a musical. I had no idea she was a singer too. What a family!
As for Matt Mc (I like that Birdie!) - I agree with you that he's getting on a bit for this sort of thing and is definitely losing his sizzle.
Dani and Marina - you are so right - Jake doesn't have to flaunt it but it's there all right. When you have as much talent and respect as Jake has, his looks are just one part of what he has to offer. He doesn't have to rely on them like some.
Incognita - just keep looking at those sites. I hope we hear something definite soon. It is Friday now....
Lets hope we get the confirmation of Jake on Broadway soon, at the moment I cannot stop thinking about it. If the play will last until November I really want to go...implied I am able to get tickets...

The "groundbraking" news about Peoples hottest bachelors have made it into our news magazine "Spiegel". Now that the germans are informed that Jake is one of the three hottest guys in Tinseltown, I can sleep well...

Agree totally about Matt Mc. Love the idea of Maggie as Nellie Forbush! South Pacific was the first musical I ever did (in high school). I played Bloody Mary and had a blast! Maggie sang in Happy Endings -- although her character wasn't supposed to be a "great" singer, I loved her voice. Very sexy. The soundtrack is on iTunes (US).
Wouldn't it be something if both Maggie and Jake were on Broadway at the same time? Don't know if this ol' heart could take it.
Perhaps we have another theatrical "royal family" in the making here, much like the Barrymores in America.
