Yesterday, although it feels like today, at Toronto's Pearson International Airport, I caught the end of the US Open Men's Final. Little did I know at the time, when I saw Roger Federer lift the trophy, that Jake Gyllenhal was watching it too, but at much closer quarters. It turns out that Jake's destination from Toronto - almost certainly on Saturday - was to New York City, giving him the wonderful opportunity to witness another grand occasion, but this time in that other arena that Jake loves so much - sport.
It's good as always to see Chris and, more to the point, I'm glad to see that Jake's decided to give Nike another go. Now I need to ingest and digest all that happened at the Great Toronto Feast - oh, and work out what day of the week it is.
Thanks to I Heart Jake and Rompres for these great photos.

OMG!!! The blue-shirt-and-jeans combo is back!Back! BACK!!! (just had a Smash Hits (UK pop mag from the 80s) moment there for some reason!)
He looks so sexy with his sleeves rolled up. And I can see chest hair!!! *drool*
The rolled-up sleeves do the same to me,TL, those fore-arms are a bit tasty aren't they? I feel another "Phwoarrrrr" coming on! (How exciting was the "Smash Hits Poll Winners Party" on the telly, once a must-see annual fixture?!).
And is it me, or is Chris getting fitter by the minute...?
Oh, how I love these photos :D Is that the Rufus shirt again. And those jeans and the Nike.... I'm definitely ready for a gush. And yes Twisted Logic - there is chest hair! I'm surprised Federer hit back a single shot with all this disttraction!
Glad to hear another 'Phwoaarrr' (I can't do it so well) from you Nadine. Chris is so, so fit! He's one of these people who looks so much better in real life. When he walked rund the corner at the gala and walked towards me I couldn't take a pic because I was too busy trying to roll my tongue back up into my mouth :P Gorgeous. Afterwards there was just the odd muffled 'Who was that? Who was that?'.
I'm surprised Federer hit back a single shot with all this disttraction!
ROFL!! I can imagine one of those moments when the umpire has to ask the crowd to quieten down and saying"Could Mr Gyllenhaal please do up his shirt, Mr Djorkovic is waiting to serve. Thank you" :D To be honest if I'd paid a small fortune for a ticket to the US Open final...I'd still rather see Jake with his shirt undone ;)
On a side note, I'd hate to be a celebrity (I couldn't take the pressure, I'd be in therapy or in prison within a month) but's that's some perk, isn't it, being able to get the best tickets (probably for free) for this kind of thing just by clicking your fingers. Not that I'm in any way pissed off about having tried and failed to get tickets for the England game on Saturday, only to see the rows of empty seats in the Prawn Sandwich (c.-R.Keane) section!!
Sorry about that rant. Off to have another look at those pics so I can get my happy thoughts back:)
Hey WDW...I hope you are quite recovered from your enchanting adventure...thanks for posting these U.S. Open pics of Jake. I am a huge tennis fan..not going to say how long I have been watching...I watched the whole men's final..(I think Federer is adorable) and although the channel I was watching showed tons of celebrities in the crowd...they never showed Jake...boo!!! Anyway..I am still loving the shortish hair...but damn that beard..it has got to go...why does he want to cover up his beautiful face with ugly hair...LOL!! Michele
Oh Twisted Logic that is so funny! Just what I meant. Can you imagine trying to do a tricky backhand and suddenly you're distracted by a tantalising glimpse of Gyllenhaal chest hair. It would be so unfair. But you're right, far better to watch Jake than even a Borg-McEnroe classic.
But yes, if you're a star you can see anything and you don't have to wait at Heathrow Airport's cach station for over an hour for a bus that should run every 20 minutes. I was thinking that kind of thing in Toronto with the crowds everywhere and the full restaurants. What it must be like to just walk in and a prime empty table materialise.
Hey Michele - I love the tennis too and used to go to Wimbledon a bit in my student days. I like Federer too :D I wonder why they didn't show Jake in the crowd.
I don't mind te beard but no longer than it is now. He needs to see his mother again!
I know shaving every day must be a pain (probably twice a day with Jake's rate of regrowth)and a break from barber's rash must be pleasant for a while (and maybe it might seem to lend maturity and gravitas for a Premiere?).
However, though Jake is one of the few men I know who still look sexy with a beard (Chris, too!) the face fungus has to go! Those beautiful features have been camouflaged for too long!!
Nadine - be careful with that razor. I'm sure men like Jake, whose beard grows at such an incredible rate, do enjoy a break from shaving and the rash. I have to say I like Chris and Jake with their facial hair but I have no problem when they shave it off either. I was surprised Jake didn't shave for the gala but then neither did George Clooney. I don't want it getting any longer at all though.
