Jake and Reese out and about in Brentwood, 29 February 2008

The sun's gone in in Los Angeles so time for me to make my way back to the UK, but, what do you know, just as I head off, Jake Gyllenhaal emerges again, this time with Reese in Brentwood. While I find it very difficult to get past that quite remarkable shirt (it really does seem to be finished off with a flock of birds), I'm loving the new Nike, complete with green soles, and I'm also loving the smiles.

Thanks, as always, to IHJ.

Well I for one like that shirt! I'm glad to see Jake's happy, that's what I want for him most of all.

what does "finished off with a flock of birds" mean anyway???

Hi everyone - at LAX ready to come home.

Thanks Quiet - I had a great time - don't want to go, sob...

Hi Anon. I'm glad to see Jake smiling like that too :D

I take it you're the same anon, 21:22 - if you click on the pictures they're bigger and you'll see the shirt is decorated with a design of flying birds on the right side towards the bottom. Such a design can be called a 'finishing' - it's not an insult!

What's going on! I'm describing the pattern on the shirt!

Having deleted two of the most ridiculous comments I have seen from two people clearly trying to cause trouble, I've come to the very disappointed conclusion that I cannot rest easy on the plane not knowing what I might find when I get home. So these comments will be moderated for this thread.

This site is all about Jake and if you can't show him respect then I would be grateful if you would stay away. I am so upset. After all these months....

The comments will be turned back on when I land in England - thanks so much for the emails and texts of support - you are lovely :)

WDW! Have a safe trip home. Your LA visit was a delight to share.

On the shirt, I mentioned to friends on another site, that the only logical explanation for such an "amazing" shirt is that perhaps it is a gift... it might even be that it is a gift from a very small person...someone who felt all those tiny birds flocked together has a subtle, but very chic, decorative effect. Dear Jake!

Now I'll have to get used to your time difference all over again!

WDW, just remember. There are so many people who love and appreciate you and this wonderful blog, don't let a couple of jerks upset you or cloud what has been a truly lovely experience. This blog is not defined by negative imbeciles. Glad you delete them!

I know you will probably delete this, but I will ask anyway, how can anyone say they are a Jake fan and yet not have anything nice to say about Jake and Reese. This is a nice blog but I notice that people do not like to mention Reese on here why?, is it because some of them think she is a "beard" or is that they feel they have been lied too but can not bring themselves to admit it, anyway I just thought I would ask but I don't expect any reply.

Hi! Thanks so much Bobbyanna - yep, you'll have to get used to a whole new time thing again - as will I - but the good news is, I have no work next week so you're all going to get very tired of me, I'm sure!

You're right, this distracting shirt has all the appearance of a gift! The decorative birds certainly add something :D

Thanks Anon, that's kind of you.

I'm going to turn back on the comments for people to chat while I'm in the air - someone has promised in an email not to comment and I am trusting them - I hate having the moderate button on as it's a real treat for me to get home and see you all. Nothing is clouded - it's been an amazing trip :D

I am now in the happy position of checking the net while in a bar with a pint of Bass :D No more tea, orange juice and coffee for me!

Oh blimey - I turn the comments back on and the first one I get...

Anon, I don't like to delete comments. I will say this the once and I am trusting people here. I have no problems with Jake and Reese - Jake's happiness is my paramount concern as all who know me will agree. There are plenty of people who post here regularly who love Reese and I welcome them. There are other people who don't and I welcome them. This is a site about Jake, it's not a gossip site.

This is not a site to discuss Jake's private life - it's private! I love the pictures but I don't want speculation here on Jake's personal life - this site is for pics and to talk about Jake's wonderful movies and how gorgeous he is - nothing more, nothing less.

I don't want to close the comments again, nor do I want to delete comments.

PS, glad you like the blog.

I'd appreciate the break - I'm at the airport - I wanna enjoy my beer ;)

Reply to anon, above, since WDW is perhaps in fight by now.

One of the reasons that this site has remained "clean" and tension free has been, in my view, is that we have sorta agreed to keep personal feelings about Jake's private life out of play. Actors are receptors for personal feelings and fantasies - we are all diff'rent. Jake's fan base includes a very diverse group of people with a variety of feelings and projections and fantasies.

WDW has attempted to remain respectful of this variety of feelings in her work to keep the site free of personal projections, hopes, etcetec.

I feel it is a good thing for all of us to work towards this aim.

End of lecture.

Hi Pia! At the gate, waiting to be boarded onto a packed flight :(

You put that so well - thank you. That's exactly it - we are a richly diverse fandom and I'd prefer to enjoy each other as well as our Jake.

I must point out that if I'd seen those Nike when I was in the store on Wilshire, I'd have bought them. They're the best pair I've seen in a long time - love those green soles :D

Hi WDW - hi everyone. I just wanted to say thank you again for sharing your trip with us. I loved reading it, and following along with your adventures. The pics are great, from the scenic views to the store fronts - I felt like I was walking along with you. You had a few shops in there that I was not aware of. BTW, I think you should donate your Nike shoes to the Smithsonian, for having traversed all over Jakeland. :)

"I had an orange juice in Judi's Deli (see picture below) just today and they asked me if I wanted it caffeine-free - a first."(WDW)

*LOL* Caffeine-free OJ - what a concept! I was wondering the same thing that Michele asked you, about which cupcake you liked better - I see that Sprinkles won.

Thanks for the new pics! He looks so happy. I've always thought that Jake's smile is the 8th wonder of the world. :) And speaking of shirts, I found one that looks just like the one in those January 16th pics (the blue and black plaid) so I had to have it.

OK, have a safe trip.

Pia said WDW is perhaps in fight by now.

In the bar or on the plane? I wanna see that! And she seems like such a nice gentle person. :o

Glad you had a good time in LA, WDW. And that you got to experience the variety of weather we get here, cold and rainy for a couple of days then hot and sunny. Now you know why we always always ALWAYS wear face creams and makeup and body lotions that have SPF 15 minimum. And that's just at night indoors, no windows. lol

Anyway what's sad (for me) is that you know the sights better in LA than I do. Maybe next time you're here you can be my tour guide. I've never even been to Runyon Park, I don't think. I really have to pay better attention.

"finished off with a flock of birds" - like in the film The Birds? Oh I hope not. :D

Seriously, "finished off with a flock of birds" -- that is one of your classic WDW lines, never to be forgotten. Or delightfully misinterpreted.

Hope you have/had a safe trip home.

Why is it that certain people get all batty whenever there are new photos of Reese and Jake?

I swear to God some people in the Brokeback Mountain fandom are beginning to remind me of those Dungeon and Dragon nerds, you know what I mean? Those kids who get so caught up in the game that they think its real or something. Their parents have to take them to be de-programmed they get so bad.

Personally I think Jake and Reese look extremely happy here. This is the first photo I have seen of Jake smiling since the news of Heath's passing. Personally it makes me happy that she makes him so happy.

If some people can't accept that then it's their problem. Leave the rest of us, the true Jake fans, alone.

Hey WDW! This is my first post as an official Google Blogger with my official Google Blogger name. So be gentle and don't delete me. Or else I'll be finished off like a Flock of Seagulls song and Run So Far Away. I know, you're thinking, "shaddup" but it's 1:00 am here and I'm happy and goofy and no, I haven't been drinking. That much. LOL.

Glad you had a good time in LA. And as always, I look forward to your posts. xxxooo

I've loved seeing Rendition, finally, also Gavin Hood's commentary, what a fine sensibility. Beautiful actors, all.

Thots of you in FLIGHT WDW, you didnt post yr time of arrival.

Morning {{{{{Kate}}}}}
Here's hoping you have a great flight home. I'm going back a few days, to read your LA posts and save all the great photos.:)

My heart goes out to you. A well meaning soul sent me to two blogs in October, and I still can't quite believe they exist. But then I settled down when realized that almost all of the negative Jake/Reese posts are coming from a small number of Brokies. That broke my heart, but it's seems to be true.

I often visit ONTD to read posted magazine article and check out photos in magazines that I can't afford.
Even that site--which is the queen of all the snark sites--is chilling on those two after seeing them together so much since October. I do read all comments about J&R even when it hurts...and I have noticed most people have movied on.
Some sites have always been laissez-faire about it all and most other sites...except for a few angry brokie sites...have moved on to other more exciting couples. Thank God:)

I hope you continue to feel free to post and have fun with your journal as you see fit, because I love what you're doing here.
XOXOXO
sass

Hi everyone - I'm back! And the daffs and the blossom are out - spring is in the air.

Fortunately, Virgin Atlantic saw fit to reward me with Rendition again, as well as Juno, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Thanks for the comments - good to see you, my friends :D I must stress again, though, that this is not a site for discussing Jake's private life or for deciding what constitutes a 'true Jake fan' - if there is such a thing then that person is someone who appreciates Jake's films (and quite possibly finds him hot).

Also this is not the place to criticise any other site. So let's keep the comments about Jake, not about other fans nor other sites - this is supposed to be a haven for all (including me!).

And welcome Google Blogger GHO :D I'm missing LA. But now you're mentioning Flock of Seagulls - I used to love that band and saw them a few times in my naughty youth.

I am so sunkissed right now, although at least my nose has stopped peeling, now it's just the rest of me. Gho, I would love to be your tourguide to Jakeland!

Hi Pia - seems so strange to be back on GMT. You paint a lovely picture :)

Hey Neely - thanks for the tribute to my Nike. I wore my 'lucky' pair that I have worn each time I've seen Jake. Thought they might do the trick, but not quite :D Glad you liked the pics and the tour!

Welcome Liz :)

Hi Sass - that's lovely you're going to save the pics - thanks!

Good to be back!
