Escape the cold grip of winter the GyllenWay

Britain is caught in the icy grip of the coldest cold spell for 13 years - ice, snow, ice, more ice, and snow and ice (and frost) have plunged even the southern counties into a chilly shiver, with Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox announcing this morning that it reminded her of that film with the gorgeous 'Jake Gyllenjall' (without wolves). Although Jake (Gyllenhaal) has now reverted to more comely climes, he knows what the cold is all about and we can look to Jake to guide us through these nose-dripping, eye-watering and finger-pinching days of winter. Maybe, because Jake is from Los Angeles, he just appreciates cold weather more?

Tip number 1: Get a good coat.

Tip number 2: Don't be afraid of winter wildlife.

Tip number 3: Be well-provisioned with food and clothes.

Tip number 4: Get supplies in for your four-legged friend (especially organic, no-nonsense, highly digestible dog food).

Tip number 5: Boots. You need boots (and socks/longjohns).

Tip number 6: Wintry accessories such as hats, scarves and gloves/mittens. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT wear a beanie (this is Jake's only wintry miscalculation). Get a proper hat - a Maggie hat for example.

Tip number 7: Exercise will keep the cold at bay.

Tip number 8: Be constructive.

Tip number 9: Enjoy the weather. Get out in it, play in it.

Tip number 10: Get the entertainment in. A good book goes so well with a good jumper.

Tip number 11: Hot or Scotch fluids.

Tip number 12: Head south...

Hi Monica! I'm so glad you enjoyed the post - I had a lot of fun doing it. I reckon it's a bit warmer where you are :D I just went outside to spray my car and it's already about -10 C! I had to have a gin to warm up... I like the picture of Chris too :) Have a good evening!

awww... the grey cashmere scarf again... he looks so handsome in it (in a slightly posh way) :P

it's crazy cold today... my fingers were icy whenever i took my gloves off! and the heating in my room has kept its "light" on all night - that shows how cold it is.

I got a Hawaiian-like word: maliwiti

*dream of beach and sun*

Hi Winterbird! Jake knows how to wear a scarf like noone else - sigh. Maybe it's the way he ties them... It's just too cold. Something should be done about it. My word is yphenca, which sounds like some kind of detoxing agent. Keep warm :)

I have another tip:

Get a Jake

The heat of another body (preferably Jake's) it's the best way to counteract hypothermia

=O)

It's very hot down here in the Southern hemisphere!!
