Jake goes green for National Green Schools Initiative, 19 February

What can I say about these absolutely gorgeous pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal taken yesterday at the launch of the National Green Schools Initiative in LA, other than a) who needs beanies when you've got a new haircut like that one? b) just look at that smile c) just look at the rest of him. I don't know about you, but there's something about Jake gardening.... Thanks so much to the ever-alert and vigilant IHJ for the wonderful pictures. You'll find plenty more there.

Morning everyone! Absolutely fabulous pictures :D

Hi there Anon :D

Morning Uli!A big breakfast treat :D I wish I could watch Jake working in my garden. I haven't actually got a garden but that's a minor point.

Exciped? Chuckle :D

Hey there Winterbird! Have a great trip - it is a fabulous haircut. Have I said I love these pics?

Ahhh - Uli, you do make me laugh :D

Morning LJF! He does look younger, and completely edible. It is good to see those beautiful eyes again, and not a hat in sight.

Have a great day everyone - Friday at last...

Good morning WDW and everyone.:)

Oh Lord, how beautiful one man can be...

I was so excited when I first saw these pics that I couldn't stop giggling and squeeing. Fortunately I was alone at work at the time. :)

I have absolutely no idea what this National Green School Initiative is but I think, in a selfish way, that Jake showing himself in public is always a good sign, like he's getting back in the business somehow, like he's promoting himself in order to promote his movies in the (immediate I hope, but near would be fair enough)future...

And all this enjoying himself doing a little gardening, lucky man.

A good week-end to all of you.

Feels like we've got our old Jake back!! :)

Hi Xenia! I was jumping up and down when I saw these too - just stunning. And yes, it's great to see Jake out and about doing public things again - I hope we have a full year of it while we wait for PoP. And as an archaeologist by training, I do like to see a man with a shovel... :D

Hey Anna! That's our boy *)

Oh my, look at the pretty! And I'm not talking about the garden.

Good morning, wet dark!
I'm happy to see Jake involved with an organization on preservation of the environment.

Finally without the hat!: D
Hair, eyes, smile ... beautiful, sexy, hot...
I think I will invade the photos and...better stop here!: D

Hi WDW, you an archaeologist? Me too! Did a little anyway. Which leads me on to the four hour ring stop and then the apparent trip to Egypt. Don't know if Im more annoyed about the snide article or the indiscrete Harrods travel agent or the Zawi Hawass type PR of the 'view of the new saqqara mummy'..uh oh, mustn't get started, been dwelling on this for days now... and I could go on, especially since he seems to be in LA all along, doing lovely gardening things. Hmmmm ...feeling much better now.
TD
PS. have to admit I do quite admire Zawi Hawass, tho' ;-)

Morning Monica! We've been so lucky lately, so many lovely photos but these are something special :D

Hi TD! You were a digger too?! Seeing Jake in LA looking so gorgeous and doing such good things is a very welcome antidote to some stuff out there :D I used to live and work out in the Middle East so don't get me started on Hawass!

A beautiful day here today, sunny and really rather warm :D

Good to see you Shy Anon! And that's definitely, on both counts :)

These are great pictures for a Friday:)

The old Jake is definitely back. The new haircut looks really good on him. He can come and work in my garden anytime...

Brothers got a mention on one of our radio stations today. This afternoon they are giving the first play of the new U2 album before it goes on release next week. Before White as Snow was played it was introduced as from the new Jim Sheridan movie Brothers. OT from what I've heard so far the new U2 material is really good.

I agree that Jake is promoting himself at the moment as a new movie release is imminent. I think the Brothers release isn't that far off as Jim Sheridan has been mentioned a bit recently on radio and tv and there have been references to Brothers. Fingers crossed we will be out of our misery soon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend:)

Great new pics, WDW, thanks for posting them. It's nice to see Jake looking so relaxed.

In the meantime, I'm still in Oz, for another week, and then flying back to the UK.
2 days ago, as I was in Byron Bay I knew that Lismore was only about 1 hour drive from Byron, so I decided I couldn't miss this opportunity. Lismore is a tiny village, inland from the Pacific coast, where the Lismore Gallery is, exhibiting the portraits running for the Archibald Prize 2008, including Vincent Fantauzzo's portrait of Heath...
I have to say I was not prepared for viewing that painting! It was a bit smaller than I thought, but much more intense, captivating and incredibly detailed than I could have imagined... I stared at it for I don't even know how long... the other visitors must have thought I was mad... but I don't care. And this intimate gallery was the perfect setting for viewing this incredible, emotional portrait. What I loved the most were the details in the contrast light-shadows on Heath's skin, all the details including the tatoos, and how powerful his expression is, in all 3 perspectives, front and sideways. I didn't want to leave, I really didn't. I hovered about the gallery entrance for a while, pretending to read the catalogue etc., unsure whether to walk in the main room and see the portrait again...
I spent the rest of that day thinking about that portrait. It haunted me, but not in a bad or scary way, not too much, at least. But yes, like other people have said, it has a haunting quality that stays with you a long, long time... I'm so glad I made the trip and went to see it.

All the best,
Paola x

Hi Carol! Thanks so much for the U2 info - I like that the song is becoming part of the publicity for the film. Maybe this is the beginning. And, of course, we have Jake promoting himself too and looking incredible!

Hey Paola! Definitely a Free Traveller :D It's so good to hear how you're getting on and the painting sounds an experience. This sounds like something you won't forget. Such a powerful painting. Good luck with the rest of your travels - we must arrange something when you're back!

(((Get Real))) I'm so sorry about your bad day and I'm very glad Jake's been a help. And yes a good cause is sexy! I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Good news is I had PC troubles yesterday but I fixed it :D I hope everyone has a great Friday evening.

Hi WDW and other guys. I'm a long-time avid reader of your blog, but I've never posted before. I am posting for the first time because I captured the PoP poster in an AVI file during a visit to the movies last night. I'd like to share it with you fellow Gyllenhaalics, but I'm not sure how to do it. Not sure if I can post it or make it available to you some other way. I'll play around with it a little, but would appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Speaking of Brothers soundtrack in your earlier post WDW, I had the good fortune today to hear some of the new U2 Album No Line on the Horizon driving home from work today. I got home before White as Snow played, and I searched for it online and found it - it is just beautiful. Very fitting for what I imagine the mood of Brothers the film to be. Bring on Brothers! :)

JoeAnn said...

I've been searching online all week for a pic of the PoP poster shown in Confessions. I'd love to see it, anonymous 01:30. I'm surprised it's taken this long actually to make the rounds.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:30, you can post it in some online album like google's picasa, or flicker then post the link. Is that possible?
I cant wait to see the Prince!

please?

WDW, he's always extra plus hyper huggable. :)

The first thought that came to me when I saw the third picture is from the now closed Jake Watch blog: "Back away from my man."

Anonymous said...

The guy in this pic Wes from the production company during an LA photo shoot 5 Feb 2009 is the same guy Unabomber Jake was hugging on a street in 2006.

Morning everyone! Another lovely day and I'm set for a full weekend of Jaking :D I hope you'll join me.

Hi there TD! Love the name :D Archaeology over there is completely different from here. Mind you most of the diggers I know are beig laid off, it's not a good time. Good word!

Hey Anon 1:03! I'm glad you've been reading :D That's great you have an avi image. If you're not sure what to do with it - because we are all desperate to see it!! - you could email it to me and I can host it. The email's wetdarkandwild@googlemail.com - it'd be so good to see it :D Thanks for commenting.

Hi Anon 1:19 - ooh, thanks for telling us about the song. I've seen the lyrics but not heard it yet. I must find it!

Morning Joe Ann and Monnie O!

Hey Anon :D It does me too. I love some of the expressions that Jake gets to see when he's out and about!

Hi 3 Years Later :) Thanks, that's interesting. I was wondering at the time who he was. I vaguely remember that someone said at the time he was a screenwriter but there wasn't much of an idea. Always good to see Jake hugging his lucky friends :D One thing I have been grateful for is that we didn't see that outfit again...!

Ooh blimey, Few Inches!

Have a lovely day everyone :D

Uli said...

Oh right, WDW! It's your jaking weekend! You girls have fun - I'll be with you in spirit! Maybe I should join you and watch a Jake movie, too... Finally! It's been a long time! Hehe, or a mix of best-of scenes! :D :D :D

Enjoy your weekend, WDW - and everyone else!! :)

Hi Uli! I wish you could join us, hopefully some time again soon. I think you should watch a film - but which one? I wish we could see a new one... Have a lovely weekend.
