In need of a good home: Brown leather Polo Ralph Lauren dress shoes, size 11

Even better, they're autographed (and possibly polished) by Jake Gyllenhaal.

It's always good to see Jake supporting a good cause, and his contribution to a celebrity shoe auction will help raise funds for foster care childrens' charity Hillsides. It will also clear valuable wardrobe space. The downside is that while Jake is donating a perfectly decent pair of Ralph Lauren shoes, he is hanging on to green crocs, missing a great opportunity to swap them for charity dosh. Mind you, how would one sign crocs...? Needlesstosay, one can never go wrong with a good pair of Nike whatever the occasion, but if one (ie Jake) insists on venturing out without the swoosh, this post includes some examples of the alternatives.

Jake's footwear even received top billing in his Cannes self portrait.

For the most part, I like what Jake wears on his feet. I'm not observant enough to figure out the comings and goings of specific pairs of shoes, though. The brown shoes he wore in Martha's Vineyard were nice, and looked comfortable, but I would have no idea if he has worn them since. I'm just happy that he goes with comfortable stuff.

I don't even know what crocs are. Are they something like sandals? I hate sandals, but obviously if Jake likes them they can't be all bad. :-)

Happy Birthday Paul!!

Crocs were those orange and green plastic things that Jake wore last spring, admittedly with the very good excuse of a dodgy ankle. But on the whole I agree with you, I've always loved Jake's boots, shoes and sportshoes and I would love to have a signed pair :)

I can never hear enough of your MV experience, by the way. I hope you're having a good birthday :D

Ooh, my Benjamin Button is in the post!

Hi Anon :D Thanks for the link. I've been very interested reading all this today- I don't think it's very convincing - a very odd press conference - but maybe it will get more people to enjoy the film :)

Hi Winterbird! Like your thinking - But a US size 11 is a UK 9.5 :D Nevertheless...

Woah, woah, whoa! Jake, if you're reading this, I'm sorry but socks and sandals should never, ever, be an option! :D

I've been looking at a site that gives movie schedules and they have Brothers listed in the "Spring 2009-date unknown" section. That's the first time I' ve seen it there. Maybe it means it actually will be released in 2009! But there's less than two months left of spring so I'm not holding my breath...

Happy birthday to Paul! :)

Morning everyone! Happy May Day! I saw someone dressed as a fried egg butty drinking a pint this morning , and a cowboy in pink - Oxford goes CRAZY on May Day! The pubs open at 6am... and thousands gather to hear the choir at dawn.

Nouskie! OMG - I love that line :D

And an Anon with the same line at the same time! Love it. Hello :)

Morning Misnomer - I like that expression too :D Jake does have an effect on innocent bystanders...

Hi 22:54 :D Ooh, do pick a name!

Morning Olympia! I think the Spring 2009 reference dates from some time ago, when it was originally due to be released in teh UK etc in February and March. But I think it'll be the Autumn. Yep, about the shoes and sandals...

Good to see you all! Have a lovely day - a beautiful one here.

Hum...I don't think we have May Day in Canada. What is it exactly? I'd love to see a pink cowboy passing by my office window, it would sure lighten up this grey looking morning! :D

Have a nice day everyone!

Hi Olympia! May Day weekend is quite a big holiday in the Uk with lots of things going on, mostly involving morris dancing and beer (we get Monday off)! May 1 is a big thing in Oxford with the centre of the city closed and revellers out at dawn listening to a choir sing and then having a pub breakfast. So many drunk people about at 8am! I've not got the stamina...

I hope you had a good day - such a busy one for me but all done now :)
