A step closer - Brothers' US distribution deal signed

The rumoured deal between Lionsgate and Relativity Media has been signed according to Variety and this means that Brothers has a US distributor and it means that Brothers will be the first film to be released under this new agreement. Who knows - maybe this means we will get a date relativity soon (sorry, couldn't resist).

Another indicator may also be on the way. Natalie Portman, the girl caught between brothers Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire, has been at Tribeca promoting her new website MakingOf, which aims to provide a guide to working in movies for professionals and fans alike. It was revealed that Natalie has interviewed Brothers' director Jim Sheridan for the site. It's not on there yet, but it's clearly a site to watch.

Good news about Brothers! I still hope it will do a film festival round first though.

Must be difficult times out there for film industry... can't imagine so many films are struggling to find distributors... the box office ruled by kids situation is not helping either... how could Beyonce's new film got the number 1 spot? Everyone says it's awful, even people from Vogue who were interviewing her! LOL...

I don't know... can't see Jake making the films that are dominating the Top 5 spots in US box offices these days.

Sorry... ranting over - gotta cook! Thanks for the news! :)

Hey Winterbird! Brothers is coming...I'd never even heard of Beyonce's new film. What a state of affairs. Thank heavens Jake is on a different course - I think we'll see something special with Brothers. I'm intrigued about how the publicity will go. I'm still thinking Toronto/London. Enjoy the cooking!

Good night, Wet Dark!
This is good news! It is one of the movies that I'm more anxious to watch, especially after I saw the Danish version.

Thanks for the good news about Brothers, WDW.
All the gyllenhaalics in the world will be finally repayed for our proverbial patience. I know it. :)

Apparently Italy had a distributor for Brothers before US did, since I read that it will be the 01 Distribution months ago. Isn't it odd.
Take a look, it's at the bottom of the page :
HereThere are new pics of Jake and his hat departing from LAX airport on IHJ. :)

A good day to everyone. :)

Good morning everyone! Lovely day again :D

Hi Anon! I'm glad to say that Brothers already has a distributor in much of Europe and its distribution deal for the UK was done last Autumn. I think they've probably wanted to get things settled with the US before announcing a release date for the UK.

Natalie and Jake look great together in these pics :D

Hi Monica! That's good to hear you enjoyed the original. I'll see that after I get to see this version.

Morning Xenia! Yes, I think Europe is pretty much covered by distribution, fortunately. Hopefully, a fair bit of the rest of the world is too now.

Lovely to have new pics of Jake and that means... another post! Have a good day everyone!

Great pictures of Natalie and Jake. They've known each other since she was 15 and they dated around the time they were about 18 or 19. They remain friends.

I just wanted to say that James Sheridan doesn't make 'bad' films. If this film's been delayed it isn't because it is inferior to the original, or to anything else. I also saw the original, and it was a very fine piece. I am sure that while Sheridan will pay homage to the original, he will do his own "Brothers."

Hi there Anon :) I do agree that I don't think Jim Sheridan would be interested in doing a straightforward remake. This will be his film. And the friendship between Jake and Natalie can only contribute to making this a film to watch - sooner rather than later! Thanks for commenting.
