WDW makes two! Brothers and Nailed, however, don't make Cannes...

Wet Dark and Wild is two today, which I'm afraid means that the site has entered into the terrible toddler phase. This means lots of craving for sweet drinks and an irresistible urge to pull things off shelves, spill perfume and spit out sprouts. Before WDW grows out of this phase, I thought I'd celebrate the beginning of a third year (one which should have at least one film in it...) by indulging in a bit - and I'm not saying which bit - of cheeky Jake. Talking of whom, Jake Gyllenhaal wrapped in gold paper and a red bow would be a perfectly acceptable present, if someone could arrange it. A big thank you and cake all round to everyone, including Jake, for making the last two years very busy and a lot of fun. A lot of fun.

Meanwhile, the list for Cannes has been announced and, maybe not surprisingly, Brothers and Nailed are not on the list. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus will premiere in Cannes, outside of the competition, while in it will be Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if we see Brothers and possibly Nailed at a festival in the Autumn.

Includes pictures from IHJ.

YAYY! I'm the first! Surprisingly odd...
If our two beloved movies starring our man of our dreams are not in Cannes, doesn't that mean the general public would have a problem watching these movies? Cos won't it be a limited showing? Then I would have to wait FOR-EVER to get access to these movies?!?!? Please tell me I'm wrong cos I am hyperventilating!!
Oh, I love the afro/unibrow Jakey! I just love a man who can make fun of themselves!! And again, my heart melts for him.

Sad that both film aren't in Cannes, on the other hand, I actually prefer festivals like Venice and Toronto more... so there are still hopes :)

Go back to the previous post: great pics of Oxford! what a lovely day :)

I got a feeling that we will see a more relaxed side of Jake when his films finally release, it must be rather frustrating sometimes to wait to the response and final product of your work - I know, I am waiting impatiently to see his new films!

Morning!

Hi Dailing :D I don't think a viewing in Cannes would have meant either film would open more widely. I suspect that Nailed will get a limited opening whatever! But hopefully we will soon have info on Brothers. I love Afro Jake!

Morning Winterbird - I hope you're feeling better today :)I much prefer Toronto to Cannes and there is always London! I suspect that jake is as impatient as us with these delays or lack of info.

Glad you liked the Oxford pics. It's looking gorgeous again today :)

Have a good Friday everyone!

Jake should chip in and give us some gorgeous well-behaved pics for WDW's 2nd birthday :)

Have a good one :)

Thanks Winterbird :D Yummy pics would be good. I've been having another look at those Vogue pics in the post, posing with the skinny model, I think Jake looks sexy in them and he also makes me giggle - I like that about these pictures here :P

Happy two year anniversary WDW! I'm glad it's been a lot a fun for you because it must also be a lot of work. It sure has been a lot of fun for us and we appreciate all the efforts you put in your posts. You deserve to celebrate, long live WDW! If Jake shows up at your door with a bow, please take pictures and share them with us. :D

What lovely pictures of cheeky Jake. My favorite has to be the one with Ang and Uma, I love all the pics of this set. They are so funny, I've always wondered if Jake was a little tipsy or just his own goofy self.

The top right corner picture of the Vogue set has to be one of the sexiest pictures of Jake I've ever seen, he looks so intense. Can you imagine what it would feel like to have him looking at you that way? I don't think I'd survive it. :) But that girl really needs to eat a sandwich (or twenty)!

Have a nice day everyone, it's gorgeous weather here in my part of the world.

All the Jake news that's fit to print, and then some!

So no Cannes this year, but I know we will be rewarded beyond our wildest expectations!

Our weather in western ma is gorgeous today and for the weekend. happy days, everypeeps!

Happy Second Birthday to WDW - it's the terrific twos, not the terrible twos, for you! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY/ANNIVERSARY WDW!! Two?? Wow!! Congrats!! I thank you for all the wonderful posts and look forward to more, more, more, more, more in the future (no pressure or anything). :)

Nope...no surprise about Cannes...but to be this far into the year without any official release dates for either movie is getting a bit ridiculous. What are these movie studios doing?! What on earth is the hold up?!

*practices patience*

*fails*

We must be strong (hee hee) for so many reasons! 2009 has been an...ummm...interesting year...

Have a great "birthday" weekend - whooowheee!!

xoxo

Happy Anniversary WDW!!

I'm so pissed that there are still no news about both Nailed and Brothers. What's holding them?ugh
It's been so long since we saw Jake on big screen.I want to see a new Jake film already.I missed him :( And i want people to talk about his acting rather than his personal life.I wanna read nice reviews and god!- new interviews!(Both to read and watch)It has been damn too long. *sigh*

But anyway, thanks for the pics :) Pity we don't have a video of that Sundance performance.(or do we?) I've only seen a bit of it.
And i love love love that 2006 oscar pics. He's so funny.

Back home after a lovely and very cultural and literary evening with Rubes - er and booze.... Thanks so much to you all for the comments - very kind, thank you *)

Love and hugs to you too, Paola xx

Thanks so much Olympia! It is hard work, but the hours are well worth it. If Jake shows up with a bow tonight, I'm keeping him under wraps :P

In those pics with Uma and Ang, Jake is definitely tipsy! I love them. That Vogue girl is far too skinny - I look at her and I want to feed her. Glad to hear it's lovely weather over there for you too. This evening has been lovely here.

Thanks, lovely Get Real *) I love the headmistress image - I'm gonna try and live up to that! Yep, fingers crossed for Toronto - definitely.

Pia, thanks *) Huge thanks must go to everyone who's read and commented over the last two years - I'm so grateful for the company. Ooh, lovely spring weather for you too :D

Thanks so much, 19:54!

Thanks BBMISwear *) The two years have flown by. But YES! What are the studios up to? We need to get some info - I feel like I'm going purple in the face waiting.

Thanks 20:52! I totally agree with you. I am so ready to see new films, and read new interviews, I can't tell you - that's the Jake I'm interested in. Our lovely shining movie star Jake. It'll come :)

I've only seen a bit of that Sundance segment too - shame, as it's priceless.

Thanks to everyone and thanks to Ruby for a lovely evening!

I'm not going boozing with a headmistress. It's not possible, please think of another role-model.

All credit to you for doing a daily post for a year with no friggin' movie out!!

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Rubes! Glad you got home ok - lovely evening xx Really, I suppose headmistresses let their bunned hair down now and again?

Gotta say, it'd be a lot easier doing a blog on movie Jake when there's a Jake movie... But next yea we could get three!

Jake with Stephen Gaghan.hmm..
Well i must admit i'm not a big fan of Traffic.or Syriana.I'm not really a big fan of political movies like that in general actually. While i do appriciate them and certainly watch them they just don't stay with me most of the time.
oh he also directed Havoc, starring Anne.

A different anon. than other anon.
Never bad to be talking to an academy award winning writer.
Had just looked him up and also how WB had signed for him to be involved with the "Dead Spy Running" Book(s)to be turned into a movie. It's lead character has a hint of James Bond but also has a boyish charm. Hmmmm.
Maybe he's talking to him about something else - but it sounds like the kind of movie Jake would like to do... even if it might not be what they were talking about.

Morning all! Weekend at laast and whaddya know it starts chucking it down :/

Hi there first anon :D These are lovely pics to wake up to and I'm doing a new post. I'm not a big fan of Traffic or Syriana either but they're certainly quality.

Thanks for the info other anon :D I've been doing some reading around and Dead Spy Running does sound like the kind of thing Jake might want to do.

Thanks X! Good to see you *)

Have a good day everyone!

Cannes generally steers clear of remakes, WDW, as does Venice. Not surprising Brothers isn't there. Also,
the studio and the marketing people have decisions to make about how much $$$ to spend and buying advertising and doing promotion simply for Cannes may very well be cost prohibitive. Brothers may screen at Toronto, probably not at Venice.

Last I heard, David O. Russell was laying the soundtrack and doing final editing for Nailed. Money comes in sporadically for these tasks so it will probably not be ready to screen until fall. He may even wait for the PoP hoopla and release it next year in March or April. This makes sense since a distributor would probably take advantage of the PoP promotions of Jake, and just ride it.

Happy anniversary! Very nice blog. Smart, funny and interesting.

Thanks Anon - I'm glad to hear you like the blog - that's a very nice thing to say, thank you :D

That is a very interesting point about whether it would make sense to launch Nailed in the wake (or advance) of the PoP publicity. taking advantage of Disney's dosh. I agree that Brothers is more suited to Toronto, although I also have biased hopes for London.
