Jake Gyllenhaal answers fan question no 3 and Duncan Jones tweets 'Jake is fantastic!'

It's Thursday and you know what that means - Jake Gyllenhaal answers another fan question! This time it's a question asked by a bunch of fans: Has Jake played the Prince of Persia games? You can see the video here.

'I played the original Prince of Persia game when it first came out - first created by Jordan Mechner - when I was a kid. And then when I was researching for the movie, I obviously picked up and played a lot Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. And my experience was that it was pretty tough actually and I had a hard time with a lot of the levels. Maybe with a bit more practice I could do better. It was pretty cool.'

The fact that Jake knows that there are 'a lot of levels' suggests he did much better than me. I have sand monster issues and my sands of time appear to have a malfunction.

I Remain

We've been talking over the last couple of days about Alanis Morissette's theme to Prince of Persia - I Remain. You can enjoy it here.

And finally...

Duncan Jones, director of the Source Code, has tweeted in the last few hours that this is not a good day. However, taking solace on the SC set, he did reveal 'Jake is fantastic! Ridiculously in shape as well... I want to go on the Prince of Persia fitness regime after this film!'

Hi Olympia! Me too :) I've been waiting for this all evening. Jake should do us a video every Thursday of every week all year - sigh...

I had problems on several levels too!
Duncan Jones is always adorable!

Me too, Monica! I had so much trouble when those sand monsters ganged up on me. The more I learn about Duncan the more I like him. What an interesting man for Jake to work with :)

Ohh, Jake interviews/question response are great! Looking great too. :)

Sorry to hear about Duncan getting screwed by the studio. That sucks big time.

On the other hand I love hearing Duncan say Jake is fantastic!

Ohhh... that Facebook video... could Jake be any cuter?!?
Love the chuckle when he admits he found it tough to play some of the levels... :)

Thank you, WDW, and have a wonderful and relaxing Easter weekend!

So excited for POP! :D ive been trying to avoid previews etc. but they're so hard to resist. Just been looking at some other films released in May and it's a definatley a blockbuster month! First theres Iron man which will probably stay top of the box office throughout May :/ then Robin Hood, then Shrek 4 followed by POP and Sex and the city sequel a week later! Definatley a LOT of competition. I hope it has a high gross. Fingers crossed. POP trailer has 2 million views on youtube, Robbin hood has 3 and Iron man has 10 million.

I hope they don't ruin any of Jake's scenes by playing this song over them. They should play it at the end. I don't mind the song. I like it better without the singing!
Her singing seems rambling or something. I wish they'd have found someone more contemporary for this task. Maybe Shakira!

Thursdays are my favorite day for so many reasons, the main one being Jake talking directly to me for 45 seconds. I still only have a vague recollection of what he's said over the past three weeks. Too busy looking into those eyes and watching him lick his lips.

I've just started following Duncan Jones on Twitter and I missed the Jake mentions. Bad fan!

From listening to the song, I have the feeling our couple is not going to get together ... at least not in this first part. The lyrics sound, to me anyway, like a Dear Dastan letter. They'd give part of the story away if it wasn't used at the end :(

Great video. I wonder how many questions he answered?

I feel bad for Duncan that that movie went to DVD and he isn't seeing a profit.

I am glad he's keeping us fan in the loop as he films SC about Jake

What a wonderful way to start Good Friday, Choc eggs & Jake what a day!! & i love hearing him chuckle. Cant believe the studios are treating Duncan like that, but am sure for him its a lesson learnt for the future still shocking though!

Morning all! Loving these lazy starts to days off :)

Hi Get Real! Good to see you :) Yeah, it's bad about Sony doing that, no wonder he feels rips off. It's Jake's mission to try and keep Duncan entertained on set.

I like that chuckle too, Paola! Have a great Easter weekend :D

Hi there 23:56! Definitely going to be spring of blockbusters - although ewww to another Sex and the City as if the first one wasn't a trial enough... I cannot wait for Iron Man 2 but I've gotta say I'm not in a hurry to see Hollywood do Robin Hood yet again - much preferred the Brit TV series on that.

It's so great to be talking about one of Jake's films in this context! It makes a real change from Brothers, which barely brushed our theatres here. I'm glad Jake's done a film that families can watch.

Hi there 3:45 :D I can see that Alanis Morissette's style is not for everyone - although personally I've loved it from her very first single. I think the song is confined to the end credits so you should be ok!

Hi Stace! The lip licking is extremely distracting, especially when he's looking straight into camera like that, straight at you. Such a wonderful idea these Thursday clips..

Hey 5:04! I like that - calling it a letter to Dastan. It does feel like that. I think it does show that they get together though because in the second half she talks of their union. I like how the song tells of the changing feelings and the difficultieis they have to overcome. I see this is Alanis' new single so I hope it's available very soon. Yes, agreed, it has to stay at the end as it tells a story.

Hi Sweetpea - we're lucky to have Duncan :)

Hey T! Chocolate and Jake is a fantastic combination and a diet I wholeheartedly recommend. I'm shocked by how many easter eggs I've eaten lately! And I'm looking forward to them being reduced in the shops next week so I can stock up :D

I think it is a lesson for Duncan - I can see why he said he'd stick to directing. Problem is, Moon is a wonderful film - I saw it again last weekend - and it deserves better.

Have a great Friday everyone!

Happy Friday to you too! Didn't get a chance to comment yesterday but, of course, enjoyed the video (a few times)! There is something about him that day he recorded these videos....

Looking forward to hearing more about Wondercon this weekend!

Hi BBMISwear :-) I hope you're having a good holiday! Definitely something special about that day :)

I'm having a good day - been to see Clash of the Titans to avoid the rain and gales :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Before Clash of the Titans, they showed the PoP trailer!! The first time I've ever seen a trailer for one of Jake's films in this country!!! I wanted to stand up and tell the packed cinema to SSShhhhhhh!!!

I'm glad - it does sound like they may have to separate for a time because of her obligations. :(

Looking forward to hearing about Wondercon!

I'd better keep quiet and stop speculating! ;)

I really have fallen for this song - I love how the ending just blossoms. Can I wait until May? I hope so. :)

Wet Dark and Wild said...

I like the speculating, Anon! It's that kinda song and that kind of film - it's epic, romance, escapism, drama - the song cries out to make you speculate about the film, and the relationship between Dastan and Tamina :)

I can't wait to hear more about WonderCon!

It really does cry out - that's what's getting to me. Sigh.

Oh well, we'll have to wait and see. :)

Yep, the SFX cover is in the post, which I finally got up there...

My feelings towards gossip are well known :D

BBMISwear said...

I love yet another PoP magazine cover but what on earth is with the American magazines?! Every PoP magazine article and cover has been a British mag (which is great) but, again I ask, what on earth is with the American magazines? Is Disney an American company? Is the lead of the film an American actor? Do the American magazines prefer to talk about husbands who cheat on their wives? And the answers are: Yes, Yes and Yes. It's bulls*#t if you ask me (not that anyone did). Maybe every single solitary American magazine will have Jake on their cover in the month of May (which would be really, really nice) but what about creating excitement? Leading up to the big opening month? "First Look" type stuff in the early months? Nothing with a capital "N". Why? See notation about husbands cheating on their wives. *rolls eyes*

Okay, rant over...sorry.

Looking forward to more WonderCon tidbits (not that any American news publications will cover it...even thought it's happening in...oh, that's right: America)! Ha!

Happy holiday weekend to those who celebrate it! :-)

Hey BBMISwear :-) Thanks for this - I was wondering something similar myself. I commented on your post in the new thread as I'm interested to know what people think.
