A new PoP featurette - The Princess of Persia - Jake Gyllenhaal makes the People most beautiful list and a Joe Namath update

We have a new Prince of Persia featurette this evening (I will do a catchup with Prince of Persia featurettes as soon as I've catalogued and classified them - I've catalogued Roman nails, I can catalogue Prince of Persia featurettes). This time the focus is on the Princess of Persia, the feisty Tamina aka Gemma Arterton but there is some Jake Gyllenhaal in it.

We even have captured here the punchline of one of Jake's infamous fish jokes...

There was a Disney press day today in London and it included a screening of the film introduced by Mike Newell. Understandably, no-one's allowed to say much as yet but there was this: 'Prince of Persia is wicked. Good adventure film. Part "Pirates" part "National Treasure" with a hint of "Indiana Jones". Its a great mix.'

Talking of Prince of Persia, I'm delighted to say that I appear to have several PoP books and keyrings in the post to me at the moment. I ordered these so long ago, it'll be quite a lucky dip, not to mention a heavy load for the postman.

People magazine has today announced it's most beautiful people and there amongst them is - not surprisingly - our Jake: 'He plays the adventurous – and buff! – Prince of Persia this summer, but off-screen the actor, 29, is a regular guy who doesn't need much to make him happy. "I feel my best after a home-cooked meal with family and friends," he says.' Is that a photo from the Mysterious Photoshoot that I see?

Elsewhere on the internet there is an article by original Joe Namath writer David Hollander suggesting that previous 'news' about the revival of the Joe Namath project with Jake Gyllenhaal at the helm may have been pure CGI. According to Hollander, the project has no studio, no linked star (it was Hollander who had wanted Jake for the role) and very little future. However, Hollander argues that if we all pay for our news then we will get the truth.

Good to see Jake in the Most Beautiful People issue. Is anyone else hoping he makes the cover of the Sexiest Man issue?

I'm waiting to hear 'Mind Blowing' or 'over the top' after people viewing POP.

So Joe Namath is a no go :( I was looking forward to Jake pumping up again to play the famous football quarterback (if you look at pics of Joe Namath when he was playing ball and Jake you'll see some similarities)

I have to squee a little - I love Tamina's costumes and hand-painted tattoos - especially on her wrists. This is going to be one gorgeous film. I love these pics of Jake and Gemma laughing - Jake has a great laugh. :) I loved that Jake talks about how much kids are going to enjoy it. I think they will enjoy Tamina's character too. The background music is great - looking forward to the soundtrack.

Bertie

I'm getting impatient to see Prince of Persia.

Hi there everyone!

hey Silver :D I know, it's lovely. There's not much Jake but it's great to enjoy the interaction with Jake. That is good to read. I saw that there was a PoP day in Manchesterday yesterday and London today - it's all happening now!!!!

It's so good to see, Leslie :) Yep, I am!

Hi Sweetpea - The Joe namath project is still open to whatever may happen. We know that Jake's keen on it so we'll just have to wait and see :)

Me too, 21:08!

Hi Bertie! I loved all the details here, the henna etc. I'm looking forward to the soundtrack too - I've ordered it all ready!

I have to start with saying I am so so so so so glad People chose that GORGEOUS photo of Jake for their Beautiful List (we all know how sometimes magazines do NOT choose the best of the best photos of him)! I can't wait to see where else the photos from that awesome photo shoot are going to turn up. Exciting times!

I have to say that based on the full website article about the Joe Namath project it doesn't sound quite as dead as it does in the quote that is circulating around the internet (which is the point the writer of this article is trying to make in the first place)! I'm with this guy and going to hold on to my hope based on what he says about the LA Times having a paid staff to do their research - the director said he's talking to the producer - this really may happen after all!

Of course I personally think it's going to happen because Jake told me it was first hand - LOL! But this was 2 years ago (hey...2 years ago tomorrow in fact!!!) so he may have really believed it was back then too! He wouldn't lie to me, right?! Time will tell I guess (per usual we must be patient while waiting for official news on Jake's projects).

Oh WDW you made me smile from ear to ear when I read your comments to Silver about our Moonlight Mile location adventures back in August last year - OMG what memories!! Makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time!! I have to go back and look at those pictures again - so much fun!

On a hockey note (sorry people!) I had a feeling you were a bigger Montreal fan than Ottawa, Olympia, even though you live in Ottawa - ha ha! Well I'm glad to at least hear you'll root for Boston if Montreal doesn't make it tonight. I wish I could say the Boston fans around here were as nice as you but they're not when it comes to Montreal! Another slight problem is Pittsburgh...please tell me one of your junior hockey alumni on that team is not Matt Cook. Please no. You know what he did to our star player earlier in the season right? Big time revenge to come...it's going to get ugly if these two teams see each other in the playoffs. Sorry again people. I'm done with the hockey talk now!

BTW, WDW - the 13 year old would love to help you with your Lego project - we plan to send you pictures of our finished result - ha ha! (Seriously, we are). He also tried to tell me what cricket was about when I told him you like that more than hockey - I just rolled my eyes. :-)

Sorry this got so long...I finally had a few free minutes here and felt a little chatty I guess!

Until next time... :-)

Ooh great comment, BBMISwear :-) where to begin...

Is it really 2 years tomorrow for your extraordinary Jake adventure?! If anyone hasn't read that yet you must. If you need direction, just drop a comment here.

I remember that Jake spoke to you about Joe Namath and, yes, a lt can happen in two years. But at the end of the article today I feel none the wiser.

I'm looking to see where those pics show up too! Something tells me we'll get a run of them in a couple of weeks :D

I hope so much that anyone who hasn't read out Moonlight Mile adventures will do so!!! That was an incredible time! Look back here in the archives to late August 2009 and follow the posts.

Rolling my eyes at the hockey :D But yes! Love for the lego tips and pics!! And cricket is very serious... especially when you have a hamper and cucumber sandwiches and gin. Good days!

My new british word for today is hamper, I was wondering why you would bring a laundry basket to a cricket game. :DD Thank you again Wikipedia. Are cucumber sandwiches and gin really good together? I think I'll stick to hot-dogs and soft drinks.

The only reason I want Jake to do the Namath biopic is because I'm hoping they'll have him do the pantyhose commercial, I so want to see that! :D

"I personally think it's going to happen because Jake told me it was". LOL! I love how you can say that so casually, BBMISwear. :D I'm so jealous!

No, no, the junior hockey alumni I'm talking about is Maxime Talbot. He's a great guy and a great player and the best captain we've ever had. All right, hockey talk over, everyone can stop rolling their eyes. :DDD

Hi Olympia! Not understanding the hockey talk but otherwise... :D Yeay hamper! Oh yes, cucumber sandwiches and a gin and tonic or, more perfectly, a pimms, are just what you want for a hot summer's afternoon cricketing. It's all about the tea breaks :D Please... no hotdogs...

I fear Joe Namath is a North American thing but love to hear BBMISear reminisce!

He sure is a beautiful man! He looks gorgeous in the People pic. And LOL at him yelling in English accent across a pool. Fun interview. :)

Nice video of Gemma and PoP. You can see that she and Jake got along.

Good morning everyone!

Hi Get Real! i think you have mind reading properties as you're referring to the subject of the next post ;D It's such a lovely video - gemma looks like a lot of fun to be about :D

Have a good day! I'm in for an extraordinarily tedious one so I'll look forward to catching up with you later :D

Most people would be in an enclosed space getting voice coaching lessons. Oh no, not Jake. Why a pool though? Me thinks he just wanted the chance to take his shirt off :DD

At last People have made some good choices this year and have not just recognised the outward beauty. I think Jake has made this list before.

Thanks WDW for the previous post and a trip down memory lane. I'd forgotten we've done the animal post. Loved the bear and how could I have forgotten Bubble Guinea! Have a great day too :)

Just a quick stop by as snowed under today:(

Well done People for choosing a nice pic for a change. I feel the Sexiest Man cover will be happening this year fingers crossed!!

OT had a wonderful time at Rufus last night. Well worth getting up at an ungodly hour this morning to head back home and work:)

Hello All,

Cucumber sandwiches must have the crusts cut off. Otherwise the dog might choke on them. ;D

I'm so happy about the People's Poll. Will there be more to see of this?

Have you read the long article about Nailed and David Bergstein in The Daily Beast? Fascinating.

Hi Sheba! I do love Bubble Guinea. That film is most definitely due a rewatch.

I'm so glad you had a good time, Carol :D

Hi TD! I have read that article and it's in the new post. Crusts should always be removed from cucumber sandwiches...
