Duncan Jones on Jake Gyllenhaal: 'incredibly gracious and talented'. Source Code is on the way!

Our good friends at ManMadeMovies have done us all proud and published an interview with young Brit director Duncan Jones, providing us with a much welcomed update on Source Code, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga. As we've seen, Jake has enthused about SC and Duncan Jones throughout the PoP tour and so it's great to hear more from the man himself, especially when he has things like this to say: 'fortunately I was supported by the incredibly gracious and talented Jake G, who really got behind me and trusted my instincts'. It is good to learn that SC continues Duncan's habit of working closely with his actors, as demonstrated so wonderfully with Sam Rockwell in Moon. It gets great results.

We learn that SC will be out early next year, and that 'Source Code is very different than Moon… its quite a bit different from a lot of films, to be honest, and I'm hoping when we are ready to show people, the patience will pay off.'

'I know that performance-wise we got some great stuff from Jake, Michelle, Vera and Jeffrey [Wright]. I know that the script was always tight, and the film has a hell of a fast pace to it. I know that I did my best to inject some humor where I could.'

Read the full interview at ManMadeMovies - and it's a goodie. I'm more excited than ever about Source Code and it's great news that it's moving along quickly. And Judge Dredd?

Well, well, well. I read yesterday's post but couldn't comment. Wanted to, so the plan was to do it early today. But before I could do it, there's another post! Can't complain cause this is a great way to start the day! :-)

And I'm really excited about Source Code too! Great to hear we won't have to wait too long to see it! Call me shallow but I loved Jake's haircut for that role (as I loved Jake's hair in Prince Of Persia: mmmh, guess I'm not that picky when it comes to Jake in general). So, starting from there, I am really enthusiastic about the film! Yay!

Lovely comments from Duncan Jones... Really can't wait!

Good day to WDW and its readers, btw. :-)

Hi Alejandra! Thanks for that! I couldn't wait til this evening to post this as it's just too good. And it's great that the source is ManMadeMovies, which is such a fab site :D

I know! I like the hair both ways too - Jake looks hot in SC that's for sure and a good film to boot so win win there. I Like how Duncan says it's a very different film - sounds extremely interesting. Can't wait!

Hope everyone's having a good Wednesday :D

What I wanted to say yesterday was: Congrats for getting to chat with Alfred Molina! Never got to see "Prick Up Your Ears" but always wanted to and I rememmbered his name from there all these years. Loved him in PoP: how he could be joking and laughing and a second later he was dead serious and scary. ;-)

Had to say it. And also, in this still early morning for me, love your current avatar. :-)

Hurray!!!
Two good news in the same day.
My dvd's order arrived! I have a batch of movies to match your reviews now.
It's going to be hell for my husband the rest of the week. He,he.

Thanks WDW

Fantastic news about Source Code! That's great that you got to chat with Alfred Molina, WDW - Prick up Your Ears was the first movie I ever saw him in, and Gary Oldman too.

An afternoon post! *jumps around* You're really spoiling us, thanks (and you gave me an excellent reason to take a break from my thesis work *grin*).
I can't wait for Source Code, it sounds so very promising. Love Duncan's words about Jake. :)

Thanks, Alejandra! I hope you see Pick Up Your Ears - well worth a look. The range of Molina is incredible - and a very nice guy. Ooh, glad you like the pic - one of my faves :D

That's great news, Eureka! Tell us what you think of them as you see them :D

Thanks 15:12 :D That was the first film I saw Fred and Gary Oldman too - an amazing film. I remember I'd just read the Joe Orton Diaries.

My pleasure, lady Ekster :D This did merit it. I'm a big fan of Duncan Jones and becoming a bigger fan by the day - Jake is in safe hands there :)

Some Source Code news:) Great comments from Duncan. This is a movie I'm really really looking forward to.

I do like Duncan. I especially liked when he mentioned wandering around Comic Con with his girlfriend and nobody giving him a second look. I don't think he's going to be that under the radar for much longer.

Hi Carol! I loved that too - the idea of Duncan walking around unnoticed, no doubt wearing one of those cool t-shirts everyone admires. He is such a good bloke! Can't wait for Xource Code.

Just got back from seeing The Rebound and when I came out of the Vue they were turning people away as every single screening of everything was sold out! Seems like the cinema is more popular than ever in Blighty :D

I think Jake makes director who worked with him all fall a bit of man-crush on him. :)

Jake in SC looks like he's ready to be a FBI agent, a well mannered lieutenant - formal and manly hotness :)

Reading the Duncan Jones interview, I am more than ready to see Source Code.

I watched that interview with him in a car that was linked here - he is a very interesting man. I'm waiting for Moon to come out on DVD here. My brother recommended the movie so it is obviously getting exposure.

Happy Jaking everyone. Thanks WDW for your post.

Cheers
Tui

Hey Winterbird! Great to see you - I hope you had a god trip :) Jake looks so hot in Sc - and I agree, he has that kind of FBI look about him!

Hi Tui :D I'm so glad you watched that interview with Duncan in a car - I loved that! Do see oon when you can - it's one of the best films of the last year - remarkable, really.

New post on MB if you're interested (it's a bit heartfelt!) - RomComs and the Rebound

Great couple of posts WDW :) My internet has been on and off (AOLs fault!) so im reading when i can. Great that you got to speak to Alfred, i think he's great :).

What a great SC interview! I love Moon more with every watch, it's such a brilliant debut, i wish more people knew about it. Dunca has a great sense of humour, i loved his subtle MOON sign in the carpool interview ;) I agree with Carol, if Source Code is a success, i pray it will be, then hopefully it will solidify him on the radar. I love that fans can communicate with him on twitter, he replys a lot. I've got a reply four times! How cool is that :D I think i told you about the first one when i asked if Jake was hurt on the SC set (pics of J with blood on him) and he replied "that's what you get when you try to improv without permission on one of my films! ;)" I learnt that SC was filmed in 42 days :) and non-related to SC - he told me he hadn't expressed an oppinion on Inception yet. And the best one yet:
Duncan: Driving through California countryside has made me really want to write a Western. One day...
Me:Do it!! Collaborate Sam Rockwell
and Tom Hardy as Good guy v. Bad guy .. perfect. :)
Duncan: @erinwellings love Tom Hardy... And you know I already love Sam. What an awesome idea! :)

He told me i had an awesome idea!? The guy who made Moon. Hahaha. I hope this western happens one day, it would be.. awesome ;)

I squee every time i get a reply :P
He's such a nice guy.

Gosh! That was a long comment, for me, thought it was appropriate to post my chat with Duncan on a SC post :D hope you don't mind :)

Silver made me laugh with that long comment...usually I'm the one that is long winded around here...LOL! But what a great comment - so cool about corresponding with Duncan on Twitter!

I found this interview with Duncan on line earlier today while waiting in a doctor's office for an appointment that was a half hour late - I didn't mind at all since I got to read all this about SC!

I do have to wonder about showing this movie to people to get opinions...I just learned they are currently showing it in Kansas City. No disrespect to Kansas City but why THERE?! Boy I'd love to see a Jake movie close to a year in advance...imagine?! The only down fall would be seeing it once and needing to wait so, so, so long to see it again (talk about withdrawals)! But Kansas City?! *rolls eyes*

I plan to read about the movie you just wrote about on MB, WDW...sounds interesting!

Until next time... :-)

I imagine they are wanting to test LAOD all over the country as there are other areas in the country besides the East and West Coast.
And i bet there are Jake fans in Kansas City. As they do have movie theaters there.
The Plaza is quite the place in K.C. and has one of the best Christmas lightings in the whole U.S.
If anyone wants to know about the city that has more fountains than any other city in the world, except for Rome - go here..

Morning everyone!

I love all that, Siler! It's so cool! I missed a couple of those so I'm really glad you posted them here - love the western idea :D Thank you! All makes SC that little bit more speial :D

Hi there BBMISwear :-) They're doing screenings already? Amazing. It must be strange seeing movies without the music and special effects - I remember hearing reports of Disney showing PoP in that state! But I'd seriously love to be a part of this SC audience - but mybe they'd think we'd be biased... Us??! Surely not :D

Thanks for commenting on MB :) And thanks to Tui too!

Hi there 03:22! Thanks for commenting and telling us some more about Kansas City - a place I know shamefully so little about. That's wonderful about the fountains. And yes, I bet there are Jake fans there too.

I thnk the screenings were of SC but I may be wrong. Actually, there's only one place suitable for these early screenings and that's Oxford, England ;D

Have a good day everyone! Is it Friday yet...?

From a screening of LAOD in Kansas City - looks like the movie is also working for guys:

LAOD review

"This film was by far the best romantic comedy I have seen. It’s smart, sexy, raunchy, and hilarious."

The review contains spoilers.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi Molly! Thanks so much for the link - wow - that sounds GREAT!!! Interesting to learn a bit more about the relationship between Jake and Annie's characters. Thanks!

And so yes, I was totally wrong - screenings were of LAOD and it's a hit!

Could of added too Kansas City's population is over 475 Thousand and is the home of Hallmark cards.
And so much more.
Lot of history there and famous people from it and it's up-to-date.
(Think it's in Oklahoma the musical with the song - "Everything's up-to-date in Kansas City").
OK, enough I know but have to step up for a beautiful city.
Because it's in the middle of the country doesn't mean there's "nothing there". People do know what's going on in the world and are as diverse as any other place.

I loved this review, because the person spoke more about the movie than the nudity. And people are enjoying the movie. This is very important.

Wet Dark and Wild said...

Hi 13:04! Thank for that - it's good to stick up for places you love :)

Hey Monica! It makes great reading - although the nudity's not bad either... ;D
