Hello from the Lizard! The home of the oddest weather on the planet - one minute you're basking in sunshine and warm breezes; the next you're wrapped up in a big jumper, wishing you'd brought your wellies and your own personal foghorn. The good news is I have internet of a sort and so I can do something of a post. This means that I can roll my eyes, shake my head and tut to the high heavens at the totally expected but still irritating news that Jake Gyllenhaal was beaten at the Teen Choice Awards by the Pale One - Robert Pattinson. The completely bewildering part of that was that the PO won for Remember Me which, I believe, was seen by 10 teenagers on three continents. So what team am I? Team Jake!
Nevertheless, Brothers has quite a following and the young star of the Last Airbender, Dev Patel, had this to say: 'I cry a lot but the last time was watching 'Brothers', starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire. I was on a plane with so many people walking around, but I couldn't help shedding a tear.' I'll take that as a compliment for the movie. If my mascara stays on for the full length of a film, I consider myself shortchanged (bearing in mind that I could weep through Tomb Raider).
Many thanks to IHJ for these glorious new images from Rendition. It's been a while since I had a good look at Douglas Freeman and after looking at these I feel more than ready to see the film again. Never mind the story, nothing divided audiences quite like Jake's hair in this film. I like it. And here are my favourites from the selection.
WDW Interlude - Cornwall Day 2
Thanks very much to everyone for being so kind about the pictures I posted yesterday from the most beautiful Charlestown, Cornwall. So, encouraged!, here are some pictures from the Eden Project, which was very mizzly today. But stunning in the greenhouses (biodomes). My tip is buy your ticket in advance off the net as the queue was incredible - they were even handing out sweets. So worth the long wait, then...
From there it was a long drive through the narrowest of roads with the tallest of hedges to The Lizard. Tomorrow, I'm off to have a look for basking sharks and dolphins - wish me luck!
Includes pictures from IHJ and WDW.

I have a confession! I've never seen Rendition :O or Highway for that matter. I'm a bad Gyllenhaalic, i'll get round to it someday :) Love your pics WDW looks lovely.

I am ashamed to admit it...I once too was one of the annoying fan girl teens gaga for the Pale One. But after two years, I eventually got bored...and then I saw Prince of Persia. Please keep in mind that I always knew who Jake was. I had always admired him--and his looks--for his amazing acting. So therefore, I was pissed that he lost to RPattz for Fantasy Actor and Drama. It just goes to show that children voted the winners this year--and always WILL.
Hi Silver! Not seen Rendition... oh dear... you must rectify that, Jake is very hot indeed in it. As for Highway, I think you should meet Piiiilot :D
Thanks - the weather round here is odd to say the least. But lovely to see the sea.
Hi Georgie and welcome! And congratulations from making it over from the dark side :D oh yes, Dastan... Amazing :D I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that teens vote for this award (considering its name) but hopefully when they're older they'll realise there's another actor to be obsessive (passionate) about! Jake will wait :)
I have internet in my hotel room in one corner... I also have a Rendition DVD with me :D
Everyone should meet Pilot, he's such an adorable druggie. Jeez, that's a sentence I never thought I'd say! :DD
Georgie, we forgive you and are glad you saw the light. :D
That first pic is smoking hot! I like Jake's hair a little shorter but that lenght would be amazing to run your fingers through it. :)
The Eden project seems like a great place to visit, it looks huge! What a fantastic place to take pictures. :)
Olympia
Beautiful photos from your trip, WDW, both today's and yesterday's (I'm a bit behind so commenting here on the last few posts). It sounds like you're enjoying your vacation and I am personally thankful you have better internet connection now! :-)
I also wanted to make sure to tell you that I so enjoyed the BBM post from the other day...I read it but got pulled away before I could comment. *sigh* I just love those BBM posts. I've been loving the many new/old pics that have been showing up...these Rendition ones are breathtaking and the one from Sundance was adorable - didn't you realize those were goggles on his head - LOL?! The celebs like to ski and snowboard while at Sundance of course!
One thing about Jake being back in L.A....we should see more pictures and hear more movie news soon. *tries to be patient* And maybe a beard shaving? *tries to be patient again*
Oh, and another thing I just had to share even though it doesn't matter to anyone but me...I finally, finally, finally caught up on all the WDW May 2010 posts that I missed - Whew! I spent hours and hours combing through each and every one - how great! I hated being so busy at the end of May and not being able to keep up at the time but it was nice to carve out some quiet reading time over the last month or so to go through all of it and take my time. Wow...you had some killer posts that month WDW! A gazillion hours worth of work at least! Thank you again for all your hard work...man, you certainly deserve this vacay (even though of course you have WDW with you)!!
Speaking of work...back at it for me...but it was nice to get a little break and spend it here!
Looking forward to hearing more about your trip...
:-)
Hypes like Dan Radcliffe and RPatz & co will be either forgotten in a matter of years or losing out on the roles they want because their faces are too well-connected to the franchise that made them teen heartthrobs. So yes, Team Jake it is and with great pride! :)
...and hadn't it already been with great pride, then those Rendition stills would have done the trick. *thud* Although for some reason I hardly ever get past that 3rd scene. ;)
(the shirt-with-blood pic begs for a caption game, by the way *lol*)
Gorgeous holiday pictures again WDW, thank you! :)
Hi WDW
The Rendition pics are lovely - I may take another look. Again. :)
Ahh I do so love the Eden Project, when I was there they had a fantastic horse sculpture made from driftwood - quite beautiful.
You can't destroy Cornwall's hedges, what would the dragons shelter behind? That was my Green Smoke reference - the dragon's breath - from the children's book of the same name. You'll just have to roll with the lanes, summon the courage and watch out for hidden walls of rock! And dragons.
Gosh I do hope you see some dolphins and other creatures.
TD
I really like that first picture on your last post - with the single boat. I wish I'd taken it. :D Cornwall has such beautiful light.
The Rendition pictures aren't nearly so pretty ;-) :D
Ooohhh some great Rendition scenes. Gorgeous photos from Cornwall too, WDW. :)
Hi there! So good to see you all over here at the edge of the world :D Sorry that I don't have the internet to chat too much but had to say hello!
Hey Olympia! I love the Rendition hair, I must say, although I thiink the London PoP length hair is my fave :D The Eden project is huge - absolutely massive. In a very stunning spot as well.
BBMISwear, you caught up! :-) I'm so glad to hear it and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yep, I did realise they were goggles - I just thought it was funny to see Jake with such big 'glasses' the day after the little kid pic :D I want pics, sigh...
Thanks Lady Ekster! Hopefully one of these days, they will see the light :) Rendition is a strange film - some of it is hard to watch but Jake is just so gorgeous in it.
The horse is still there, TD! I love the art there. And some of the real life birds too that you see around the place. OMG, there are dragons behind those high walls and hedges? Errr, I feel so much better now ;)
Yeay! Thank you, Ruby :D That means a lot. With a half decent camera it's hard to go wrong really here. The light is unbelievable here - as is the fog...
Thanks so much 22:00 :D
I hoe you're all having a good evening/day. I'm watching the news and they're talking about Oxford - rather strange when I'm all this way away :D
I rather enjoy DanRad, I think he's an under rated actor. I don't he is as hyped as the "pale one". And I think any actor who had the lead role in those dreadful Twlight movies would have made the same impact on Twlight fans. When the mayhem over that dies out, I would really be surprise if RPatz will be that popular or in demand. Even he's sick of Twlight. But too be honest, I think the Teen Choice awards are just an extension of a high school popularity contest, acting skill has nothing to do with it.
Omg Cannot forget how beautiful Jake looks in rendition! I'm team Jake of course!! That twillight dude makes me sick. Lol a great post kate, and loved the Photos from your trip, keep having fun!
Hello WDW - good to see you enjoying your holiday. Hope the weather clears up for you, sounds like what the weather can do here in spring, ah not just spring actually all year round - we call it four seasons in one day. I looked up the Lizard and The Eden Project online - interesting.
Those Rendition pics were hot. I never get tired of looking at Jake's face, it's like a beautiful landsape.:)
Cheers
Tui
Daniel R. has come a long way since he was a child in the first Harry Potter movie. He has gained as an actor and he is not a flash-in-the-pan type. He has done Broadway with good reviews and will be going back for a musical before long. He has done Other movies also and done a good job. I think he's going to be one of those English actors who works and works and works.
Pattinson. I think too whoever would of played Edward and was good looking and mysterious and broody would of caused just as much attention. His movies so far outside of the Twilight Series have not done well as for so many he Is Edward and that's all they want him to do. But he has movies coming up that are more "mainstream" and i imagine he'll do o.k.
Every generation has something that really grabs them and it's fun to be apart of the crowd that does like an actor or singer.
Luckily tho Jake hasn't followed that type of thing and he has done movies that have not been aimed at a "teen only" audience.
(Tho lots of movies and music "aimed" at one group doesn't always mean only people in that group like it.).
KC
Morning all! A stormy day today - just what you need for a big boat trip. Hopefully won't be re-enacting The Perfect Storm.
Hi 23:44 - I think Daniel has great potential. He's done some interesting other things. Which is great ad I used to think he was a terrible actor! Not now :)
Thanks so much Linda!
That's great you looked places up Tui!
Hi there KC :D
Apologies for short comment. In one room with wifi and they've just put a big veggie cooked brekkie in front of me :D
RE Jakes hair in Rendition: I like it too. :D
