Jake Gyllenhaal to present at the Oscars!

This emergency post comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter which has just revealed that Jake Gyllenhaal is to present at the Oscars this Sunday. While this is great news for everyone (who is able to watch the Oscars and not have had its nation's TV Oscars coverage abolished due to a state visit by a certain pontiff last September), it does mean that Jake cannot curl up on the sofa to watch it with a big bag of doritos.

So... which award do we want Jake to present?

More details to come, no doubt. Watch this space!

That's great news WDW! So so so ridiculous that it's not broadcast on terrestrial tv, even sky1 would be fine. Skymovies is the one thing i don't have :(. I hope it's a big award so they don't cut him out, they condense a 5 hour show down to two, usually. Out of curiosity, is that new pic?

Just to let you know I do still read here regularly, i'm more of a lurker than a commenter right now :P you do such an amazing job with this blog, it must be such hard work, it's really appreciated! Best Jake blog/site on the net by a country mile :)

Wonderful!
I've checked my TV program and no Oscar night for me. I don't have cable TV as well, so maybe on-line. But like you said WDW, the hour for Europe is not convenient, especially on Sunday night. It really should be on Saturday:(
What category for Jake? I just don't know. I just wish for him some important category, so he could sparkle and flash with his witty talent about something important. But probably the most important categories are already given away. We will see. I'm so happy for Jake!

Thanks, WDW,

Well in 2009 I had wished he was going to present for best supporting actor (which would mean he would have read off Heath's name)

I wish he could do best actress cause I believe it will be Natalie.

any category at this point would be fine with me. Just so long as I see him in a tux

It's great news, Silver! And so good to see you - I'm so pleased to know you're there reading. Hope things are going well - and thank you :)

Hi Mermon! Hopefully we'll see it in video afterwards - I'm looking forward to seeing Jake sparkle too.

Thanks Sweetpea! It would be great if it were Natalie's award although I thing that'll be for last year's best actor. It would've been lovely to see Jake present for Heath in 2009 but these big awards go male-female and vice versa, I think. Be great to see Jake in a tux!

Thanks so much for the emergency post, WDW - I'm glad to know you are keeping your priorities in proper order.

What wonderful news! I, too, hope it's a "big" category, but I know he'll be handsome, suave, and witty regardless. I'll be thinking of you while I'm watching the broadcast curled up on my sofa with a big bag of Doritos. Or maybe Wotsits...

Enjoy it, Susan! I'll be snoring away. I always get nostalgic, remembering those times when I've been in LA for the Oscars. Probably just as well I can't watch it :)

I forgot to mention, Silver, that the picture in the post is from 2006, from the Oscar rehearsals.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway do 'Grease' - 19 seconds of Oscars rehearsal. Hm, they do look like they also have a chemistry. Anne looks good. I didn't see "127 hours" yet, but James looks like a nice, cool guy.

Yay! Yay! Yay! I was watching anyway but this news makes it much more exciting (to me anyway)!

I know it doesn't work for some to watch live but you'll probably see the clip of Jake on line shortly after as that is usually the case. (And with any luck you'll get the full broadcast on DVD by the following weekend WDW) ;-)

I agree with this 100% Silver: "Best Jake blog/site on the net by a country mile" - and then some!!

I'll be checking back...and I'm hoping for some 'out and about' photos leading up to a busy weekend.

:-)

That's great!
I won't be watching it though.. I think that my red bull attempt to stay awake last year was too much for me lol. Stayed awake (if you can call it that, I was more like a zombie) until Maggie's category had been on and I went out like a bang, had to get up again 1 hour later for school.. naah can't be adviced! So even though there's no school for me anymore then I think I'll get my beauty sleep instead.
