Update: Jake Gyllenhaal to present at the Golden Globes, a San Francisco shave? Vote for Brokeback and Peter Lovelace Sarsgaard

UPDATE: the Speculative Shave (see below) may well be in a good cause, Jake Gyllenhaal has just been announced as one of the presenters at the Golden Globes next Sunday (15 January)! So not long now and we get our first official look at Jake in 2012.

On with the post...

With the agility and speed of a modern day Scarlet Pimpernel, Jake Gyllenhaal was one minute in San Francisco and the next he was back in LA. On Sunday evening tweets put Jake on a plane back to Burbank, on which he seemed to cause a little flurry of excitement. But before the flight back, there were sightings of Jake all over San Francisco - hiking in the Marin Headlands, buying kale at the market, dining out at Hapa Ramen, in bars, and...., I think this one deserves a dramatic pause.....

and another pause...

Getting a shave. Yep, San Francisco is good for Jake. It gives him shaving urges: 'The trip to the barber was more exciting than normal, since we just missed Jake Gyllenhall getting a shave, apparently.' Let's just hope it wasn't too drastic.

Hopefully, now that Jake's back in LA, it won't be too long before we can judge the results.

Peter Lovelace

Meanwhile, talking of facial hair, Peter Sarsgaard has been spotted on the set of Linda Lovelace. Peter plays the husband of pornstar Linda (Amanda Seyfried) and there are no prizes for guessing in which decade it is set. Don't say I didn't warn you... Let's just hope this isn't the look Jake went for. Source.

And finally...

Focus Features are asking audiences to vote for their favourite Focus Features movie. It would be great if you could go pop along and vote for these guys. When I voted, Brokeback was number three.

Includes pictures from links and IHJ. Many thanks to BBMISwear for the help with the SF links!

My review of The Artist is now up on MovieBrit.

Funny post, Kate :-) Seems Jake has been busy in SF. Hearing about his visit to the barber's is exciting. I really like him better shaved (although he looked georgious in Berlin in april).
Voted ! BBM is still #3.

I loved JR interview, too. Watched it several times :-)

I'll be in Berlin in February for a few days. So I wouldn't mind if someone get to know about Jakes hotel or other interesting things about Berlinale :-) Will anyone of the other "Gyllengirls" be there, too. It would be great to meet some of you (again).
Have a lovely evening everyone.

That news was certainly dramatic pause-worthy and elicited a rather dramatic gasp from me! Has he tired of the face pet for a while or merely trying to tame it? :)

I like Peter Sarsgaard and have enjoyed him in many roles, but I admit my first reaction to this latest one (Chuck Traynor) can best be summed up as "eewwwww!" Still, I think I'll probably see it as soon as it is released.

Thanks for the great post, Kate. I don't know anyone else who can elevate a simple act of grooming such as an overdue shave into a world-shattering headline. Kudos!

Hey thanks Susan! Chuffed you liked my dramatic pause :D Here's hoping he went through with it. And NOT loving that look on Peter - poor Maggie. I bet she can't stop laughing...

Is it true? Did The Great Shave finally take place?! It would be quite appropriate given that The Great Freeze aka TDAT is on the telly here tonight. :)
AND he's presenting a Golden Globe? I daren't believe my eyes... What a yummy post to start the week with!

Peter's look and expression made me laugh. He better look a bit more, uhm... modern when Maggie gives birth or their baby will scream and cry for days on end. *smirk*

I was reading about Palm Springs award to Michelle Williams and how these were prior to Golden Globes. Searched for this and your blog showed as first result. Ha,ha.
Wonderful news, God bless the Golden Globes org. They will give us a great sight. ;o)

After LadyX - "What a yummy post to start the week with!"

Jake lives his busy private life and we got excited about anything we may find. In the time between his movies and public appearances. I am so happy he will present on Golden Globes, despite it will take a short while, probably we will see him on red carpet, maybe in some interviews. Can't wait. Working Jake is always so charming and nice to his fans.
I have to admit I like Peter's look, it's so funny and in style. I bet Maggie loves it. This movie may be interesting and has a great cast.
I don't think Jake is completely shaved, maybe he just trim the beard. Some girl met him and wrote that "he was still "beardly" recognizable." But there are still few days to go.

It's like Christmas on gyllenworld, after weeks of slow news, we get three in a role.
First, we will see jake at the globes
Second,he left CAA for WME, a fresh new start is always welcome.
Third, it looks like we will finally see that beautiful face shaved.

Peter looks so funny, but still adorable, Ramona most laugh seeing that sideburns.

Oh yes...that dramatic pause was a good one WDW! LOL! At last year's Golden Globes he had the face pet but it was nicely trimmed (and very soft!) and his hair trimmed and styled nicely as well so that may be all we get. We'll see! I'm so glad he will be at the Globes so we can get a glimpse. I hope with End of Watch coming out this year he will do some red carpet interviews as he will have something to promote. It won't be anything close to the wonderful slow 45 minute walk down the carpet with the many, many interviews like last year since he's only a presenter and not a nominee but maybe he'll do a few. Or maybe he'll pull the old slip in the side door 10 minutes before it starts without any interviews at all (he's done that before). But I hope that won't be the case!

Sounds like he had a fun weekend in S.F. Now back to work I hope! And Peter looks...ummmm...well, I don't even know what to say! But it makes me laugh!

Do you still have the link to the BBM Focus Features Voting, WDW? If so maybe you can add it to the post and future posts? It's really bothering me that it's still in 3rd place. *sigh*

Thanks and talk to you next time!

:-)

I can't believe how Jake's beard has its own name 'face pet'. It's like it has a life of its own. Just remember when it goes, da da daaaa..... it will come back. But in another form. Just look at Peter hhehehe. I love those guys, they're so bold and don't give a 7^%£. I also can't believe that in that picture with his beard he is only 26!! He looks younger now.

So happy to see Jake at the Golden Globes just before I get rid of my Sky. He scrubs up very well and I wonder which beauty will be on his arm this year. I bet he will be introduced as 'from the Star of forthcoming movie, End of Watch ...' Come on distributors and WME, work your tushies off for our guy.

Hope your day improves dramatically WDW. {Cyberhug}
