*Emergency Post* Jake Gyllenhaal to appear on the US stage this year in 'If There Is I haven't Found it Yet'

We have news from Variety and it's corking! So find those opera glasses, dig out some posh togs and book those tickets! And I quote...
Jake Gyllenhaal will make his U.S. stage debut later this year in an Off Broadway staging of Nick Payne's play "If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet."
Show will be produced as part of the 2012-13 season at the Gotham nonprofit Roundabout Theater Company, which also has added the world preem of "Bad Jews" to its Roundabout Underground season of smaller-scale productions of new works.
Payne's comic family drama bowed at London's Bush Theater in 2009. The Stateside preem will be helmed by Michael Longhurst, director of Payne's "Constellations," which earlier this year won Brit plaudits in a run at the Royal Court.
Gyllenhaal, who starred in Kenneth Lonergan's "This is Our Youth" on the West End, will play the estranged uncle who arrives for an unannounced visit with a family whose members include an overweight and bullied teen girl, a mother trying to protect her daughter and an environmentalist dad.

"If There Is" begins previews Aug. 24 ahead of a Sept. 20 opening at the Roundabout's Laura Pels Theater.

More details at Variety and no doubt much more to come! Watch this space.

O!M!G! This is incredible! There actually is a possibility that I might be able to see Mr. Gyllenhaal on stage this fall! I'll be asking for tickets to this Off Broadway production as a gift for my birthday / anniversary / Christmas... for the next two years at least.

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

I am so happy for Jake. I'm sure he's totally excited having opportunity to play in USA' theatre, and no doubts he will be great in it. I can imagine that crowd coming to see him. @Susan, I understand you completely. If I lived in NYC I would be going to see his play at least once a week!
Here is a bit more of a plot, may be spoilerish.
Jake Gyllenhaal's U.S. Stage Debut

On previous post - thx for those interviews,Kate. Always a pleasure to listen to Jake's voice. I never heard that one about his love to London. I bet you were very proud and pleased, Kate, hearing him say such nice things about your country's capital. I would be.

Great, Great, Great news! As WDW has mentioned here, many of us long time fans have heard news of Jake doing a play in NYC over and over again with it never coming together for one reason or another. And now it finally has - whooowheee!

What a 2012 is right Carlotta! Filming early to mid-summer, a play late summer through fall, and a new movie release in the fall - wow! When it rains it pours. I love all of it!

Good times! :-)

Now his turning down of various projects makes complete sense. It's too bad that a lot of people had to come down on him for doing that. You never know what's in the works. I was positive he had very good reasons for not taking on several projects. I'm glad I did not rush to judgment like some did.

Hello! Thanks so much for all the comments - an exciting day. Farragut North was also announced like this but this does look more hopeful. I can't imagine Jake wanting his OffBroadway career to be cancelled twice.

That would be fantastic, Susan!

Good to see you, Karen :D Hope things are good with you!

Thanks for the link Mermon :) And yes, it makes me so happy hearing Jake talk about London. I love how he loves it here.

Carlotta, that is so kind, thank you!

It's so fantastic, BBMISwear :-) I can hardly believe it!

Hi there Leslie! You did well as I was a little peeved myself. I knew there'd be reasons but I am very impatient when there's so little information. But all looks good!

Ooh, interesting, MK! We must see. maybe the wedding was announced after he said he'd do the LA Corps awards an he's since cancelled. Or maybe the tweet was in error. We shall see!

My pleasure, GforJ!

So, if Jake is in London tonight, I can only apologise for the weather - this is the wettest drought on record...

I'm really excited about this. I remember Farragut North being a bit like this too but this one does feel more real.

Looks like the quiet times are coming to an end. 2012 is shaping up to be quite a journey for Jake and all of us.

Really looking forward to it all and sharing it with all of you here:)

I think with Farragut North Jake just did a reading, but he wasn't in line for it. I don't think he was ever up for the play. He was talking to the authors about making a movie of it, but he lost out to Leonardo Di Caprio and George Clooney.

This is much different. The Theatre has announced it's schedule and he is part of it. This is real.

Kate, to be clear - I wasn't implying anyone here . . my comment was more about the media and a lot of comments left on news articles when he bowed out of that one movie. People can be cruel, and for some reason especially when it comes to Jake.

Morning everyone! Some trouble with blogger but got through in the end...

Hi Carol! It does feel like dejau vu a bit but definitely looks ore hopeful - quite a year!

It's brilliant, Daniela! have a good weekend :)

Hi 1:31 - actually Farragut North with Jake went a lot further than you think and it wasn't because of the movie. Second Stage Theatre was booked and the programme was released with Jake on it - just like now! That was for some time in 2007 but then it was put back to Autumn 2008 in the theatre schedules but still with Jake's name attached. I was trying to get tickets. Finally the director dropped out and with him Jake. So this is very familiar.

No worries, Leslie! You're right :)

have a good Friday everyone!

Thank you for explaining this, about Farragut North, WDW. I had no idea you had tried for tickets.

Still I am hopeful this is more certain since it is scheduled to begin in only three months.

As I look back on The Ides of March, and no offense to anyone, I cannot help feeling the story was made for Jake. He would have been outstanding in the role.

Now I am happy to look forward to this new play, whether I ever see it or not. I do wonder how it will affect EoW promotions.

This is wonderful news. I only wish I could be there. Very doubtful at this point. BUT I expect all who do go to give us a FULL report. I wonder if Jake will do other plays after this one?

I thank you too, Kate for telling us the story about Jake in Farragut North. Never heard about it before, never knew he supposed to play. Was it planned for UK or USA?
New management works very well for Jake, thx goodness for that change. It almost unbelievable how many things goes around Jake now.
So tonight in LA or tomorrow in UK?
