Nightcrawler! Trailers and news of the film's special presentation at this year's TIFF

Nightcrawler approaches! Jake Gyllenhaal's next movie Nightcrawler arrives in US cinemas on 17 October but, as now seems traditional with Jake's movies, it will also be showing at the Toronto International Festival - its special presentation will take place at the Elgin Theatre on 5 September at 9.30pm.

It's fitting then that we now have not only a promotional clip 'Hardworker seeking a job' but also the first official trailer.

The blurb with the trailer tells us: 'NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling -- where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou thrives. In the breakneck, ceaseless search for footage, he becomes the star of his own story.'

There is also a poster to go with the trailer, as seen on Awards Circuit

So, whaddya think?!

Catch up: Jake Gyllenhaal turns Pittsburgh into NYC and Maggie is an Honourable Woman

Good to see you all! I'm back from one lovely long holiday in Cornwall (having returned looking like a radioactive lobster) and now getting ready for another jaunt to Rome. Jake Gyllenhaal is working through his summer, with shooting continuing on Pittsburgh into next month at least.

This report from Pittsburgh shows how the city is being transformed into NYC, complete with billboard posters of Jake's - or Hope's - next fight:

'The former Saks building is being turned into Madison Square Garden for the movie featuring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, 50 Cent, and Lupita Nyong’o. A banner advertising “the light heavyweight championship” boxing match between Gyllenhaal’s Billy Hope and another boxer hung outside the building. New York City taxi cabs and police cars were also seen on Smithfield Street. The film is shooting in Pittsburgh through early August. The film previously shot in Indiana, Pa., in June.'

If you want to be an extra, there may still be time!

Maggie is making a bit of a splash on British small screens at the moment with the well-received The Honourable Woman. To mark its screening, Maggie was interviewed in the Guardian with this, less that controversial, comment about Jake: 'Understandably, Gyllenhaal discourages speculation about sibling rivalry. "He's one of my best friends and I really adore him,"' Incidentally, Maggie's English accent in The Honourable Woman is impeccable.

Thanks to IHJ for the new stills from Enemy. I love these posters.

I hope you're all having a good summer/winter!
