Jake Gyllenhaal, still in NYC, has lunch with Naomi

Well, wouldn't you Adam and Eve it, I just put a post up, ending with some vague thoughts on Jake's current location now that Maggie is in Chicago - and Jake turns up. Jake was spotted having lunch in New York with his mother Naomi Foner, although both of them seemed more intent on their phonecalls than on what they were eating. Were they talking to the same person? Was there certain news (such as, pulling a random thought out of a hat, a Broadway play role for instance) to share with father and sister before it could be announced to the public?

The first thing that struck me when seeing this picture of Naomi is how much young Jake resembles her

Have a look at Jake in City Slickers

How true, Incognita! Hadn't realized that before.

I'm keeping absolutely everything crossed that the play is good and Jake has committed to it.

Hi Incognita and Beckela!

I agree - sometimes Jake really has a look of both his parents - as does Maggie.

Glad to hear you're keeping everything crossed Beckela!

OMG..he is such a mama's boy...which is a good thing, of course. I think he is so freakin' hot in that sweater...but that scruffy look...has got to go. I hope he is not growing the beard for the the play...that would really disappoint me. Loving your site so much..Michele

Incognita, I had the same thought when I first saw the picture of him sitting next to his mother, how much he resembled her when he was young, I don't see it much now. Maggie looks more like her to me.

As for the beard, I can tolerate it as long as it doesn't get any longer than this. I would hate for the play to be spoiled, if he does it, with his good looks obscured. I can't get over how much grey is showing lately. Maybe I never noticed it before. But since Cannes it definitely seems more noticable. I started getting grey hair at age 15! I am kind of liking it on Jake. I just don't want him to end up looking like Sasquatch!

Hi Michele and Dani

I'm happy with the scruff but not with the cardigan...I'm sure that as soon as Jake is ready to be the public movie star and actor again, the beard will go - but I kind of like it!
