Jake Gyllenhaal visits his mum on her Very Good Girls' set and End of Watch premiere details

Not content with spending time on his own filmset, Jake Gyllenhaal took off to New York City this week to spend time on his mother's. Naomi Foner is director and writer of Very Good Girls which stars Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen and Demi Moore. Both Dakota and Elizabeth were on hand as Jake took a tour and helped drink the coffees. Interesting to see how some media sites couldn't accept that Jake would be visiting his mother at her place of work and instead insisted that she was visiting him. You can see a video of Jake's visit here.

The photo below is crying out for a caption...

End of Watch has a premiere date! A competition has been announced in which you (if you're American and nor from Alaska and Rhode Island) can win a trip to the LA premiere on either 23 or 24 September. Interestingly, I'm reliably informed that If There Is I haven't Found It Yet, Jake's play, isn't  playing on Sunday 23 September. (sorry it was my mistake earlier with the dates.)

Talking of If There Is, thanks to a reader for letting me know that there's a Q&A with the cast before or after the performance on 20 October. See the comments for a code for booking tickets.

Thanks to IHJ for the pictures!

I was laughing out loud reading captions on websites about Jake's mother visiting him on the set of HIS movie! They live by the old adage "better to be first than right" don't they? I indulged in a bit of smug satisfaction as well for knowing the truth. Then I realized the level of celebrity trivia I was reveling in and promptly logged on to cnn.com for some actual newsworthy articles. But I got bored, so here I am again!

Thanks, Kate! Love the photos you posted!

Hi Susan! I was very irritated by it - Naomi does stuff in her own right and should be recognised for it. Also lazy 'reporting'. But lovely pics!

I am confused. Why is there an official "premiere" in November, when the movie will be in theaters in September.
That's 2 months later. Most theaters will not even show the movie anymore at that point.

Can anybody explain this to me?

Sasha, it was my stupid mistake - it's September not November. Sorry about that but thanks for letting me know - changed the post. oops!

Lovely pictures, Kate! Thanks for posting. Looks like Jake attracts the most attention from his family. Lately I read about Stephen Gyllenhaal's latest film Grassroots and he was presented as Jake&Maggie's father. Nice that all Gyllenhaal are so active in business! Naomi's film may be interesting, nice, young cast.
I would love to see the play October 20th! @Susan! Aim at that date!

Hi Mermon! I'm very interested by Naomi's film - excellent young cast and so exciting!

Thanks for clearing that up, Kate.
Maybe you were thinking about the UK premiere date while writing,ey?

Wonderful post WDW - so exciting about End of Watch and I love the pictures from Naomi's film set.

Wow, is he Lookin' Good or what?! This is the exact look I love the most on him - normal to long length hair and stubble on the face! Of course we all have our personal preferences (as does every blogger and tweeter on the internet - ha ha)!

Can't wait for If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet - whoooowheee!!

:-)

Ooooooooooh, talking about all the photographs taken July, 18:

T-shirt and shorts have never seen an ironing board.

Shoelaces are undone – yet again!

The camouflage fabric beckons – yet again! (but this time wrapped around Jake’s somewhat bulky [?!] waist)

And our beloved face pet is slowly coming back, too.

Still, I MUST admit that I like this, aherm, scruffy look of his a lot. So very Californian, is it not?
;-))

Who are you, the fashion police? As far the ironing board remark, who irons a t-shirt? And for the record I did not notice the clothes were not iron. He's very co-ordinated in the pics. The untied shoelaces is actually a guy thing.

Or maybe his feet hurt, I like it.

Will he show in the movie credits?
If he's contributing, he should right?
Beautiful post Kate, thanks!

That'll be it, Sasha! Seriously though I'm number dyslexic so I can get into all kinds of trouble writing numbers and dates!

he looks great, BBMISwear :-) Such a good look. Reminds me a little of the longer hair for Rendition look. Liked that.

Hi Antje, it's a great look!

Hello 3.10 :) we've had a lot of fun giving Jake lots of clothes and hair and shaving advice here over the years so don't spoil it! These things are important!

Thanks Eureka! I doubt he's helping out, it's probaly just a set visit, but so good to see :) Best pics we've had of Jake in ages.

Have a good day everyone - Friday!

For what it's worth, permanent-press T-shirts never need to be ironed. I haven't needed to iron anything in 30 or 40 years.

There was a massacre in a movie theater in Colorado yesterday. They were showing "Dark Knight rises." I worry that incidents like that might make people afraid to go to the movies.

Paulh - I was just joking when I commented about Jake's t-shirt two days ago.
Are you here often? We comment about Jake's looks all the time/constantly - but in a friendly, amusing way.
We do so because we are great fans of his. And most of us think he is just
GORGEOUS!!!

Hi Paul! Good to see you! Me neither - I don't even own an iron... A terrible event and seems even more horrible because it happened in a place that gives people so much pleasure. Just horrendous.

Hi Antje - Paul is an old friend and has been a supporter of the blog since its very beginnings. Always good to see him here :)
